The last Spotlight race I covered was two weeks ago as I was away on vacation last week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>That race was an allowance race in Sweden and Alpine Special\u00a0 <\/SPAN>rolled off to a two length win as my top choice at 5-2 and he was the second choice with betters.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

8-1 ZZM took second, who I stepped away from, as his form was just not there\u2026..well, now he may be getting back to the same shape he was in last year.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>My second choice was the favorite Blush Again who finished forth.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

Coming in third was Fly Dubai who I also tagged for third.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The 4-1 shot I felt could \u201cimprove immensely\u201d off the 87 speed in his last race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He did, scoring a 97 rating.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Now onto this week\u2019s race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN>We\u2019re in Ireland this week for a Starter Allowance race, which is the fourth one on the program.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It is open to fillies and mares that are four and older who have recently raced in a claimer with a tag of $5,000.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The gals will be running 6 furlongs on the turf.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

1. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/SPAN>Formal Approach\u00a0 <\/SPAN>9-1\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>-Seems to be stuck in second gear, with three consecutive seconds.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Lifetime she has one win with six seconds in 20 starts.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speeds have been in low 80\u2019s and has an outside shot in this race as favorites in race are showing better numbers.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

2. \u00a0<\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN>Lantana\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>58-1<\/SPAN>-Last hit the board in early 2010 when she was running speeds in mid-70\u2019s.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In money 4 of 39 races and looks doubtful here.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has already appeared in 12 races in 2011 racing every 2 to 3 weeks on average.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speeds are mainly in mid-60 range and aggressive racing schedule may be having impact on this one.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

3.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Steady Escort\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>5-1-<\/SPAN>Disappointing outing in last, finishing well back, but that was in slop and a throw-away race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Otherwise speeds have been low to mid 80\u2019s but she did hit 91 in April.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Could be a surprise factor in this race.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

4.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Devil in Rome \u00a0\u00a0<\/SPAN>17-1<\/SPAN>-Comes off claim and this one has been inconsistent.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She will pick up a purse check here and there for finishing third or fourth and other times just not factor into the race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speeds have ranged from 67 to 81 over last six outings.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hard to get behind.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

5.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Fatboy Viking\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>86-1<\/SPAN>-New stable Chriso inherited this runner when the stable was established.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Last week was the first time in almost four years that she raced and scored a speed of 59 on the turf.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>65 is the top speed this one ever recorded.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has one week of rest and looks to be one to dump after getting the token 20-races in.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

6.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Royal Ladyii\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>97-1<\/SPAN>-Agressively raced this gal has 14 starts this season.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Her top speed this year is 70 which she obtained when breaking her maiden back in February.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Highest speed over last five is a 65.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She races every other week and the wear shows.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hard to tell if a rest break would help, but may be worth a shot.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

7. \u00a0\u00a0<\/SPAN>Big Boob\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>5-2 <\/SPAN>\u2013Claimed in February, new connections ran once in March and this horse was sidelined until July.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Largely a dirt runner, she was moved back to turf and hit SP of 87 while finishing third.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This is her second race back after a lay off and many times there is noticeable improvement.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Worth a shot.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

8. \u00a0\u00a0<\/SPAN>On a Thin Line\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>2-1<\/SPAN>-A slow learner, this one has gradually improved her speeds from the low 70\u2019s to the current low 90\u2019s over the past year and a half.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has won three of her last five and will be looking to wire the field.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She is very capable of accomplishing this.<\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

9. \u00a0\u00a0<\/SPAN>Red Galileo\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>2-1<\/SPAN>-In the money 14 of 22 races on grass with 5 career wins.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Nice cheap claim off last race where she had been dropped from $25k claimers to $10k claimers down to $4k claimers despite finishing no worse than forth in those races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Very good spot for her to be in with two of last three race speeds in the 90\u2019s.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

Looks like the outside posts are the best here, just a matter of who will get top honors.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019m going with On a Thin line to win it with Red Galileo in the second spot.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I think both of these will be just off the pace which I think Big Boob will set and she gets my third pick.<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
