The weather man got it wrong when he predicted an 85% chance of an off track as the skies have cleared and the track has been rated good.

Once again this year it is a small field of 7 all shooting for the $750,000 purse that was last year won by Wall Street Ghost in 1:55 3/5 which was one second slower than 2009 when Obey Your Master won with a SP of 106 in a field of eight.

Lets take a look at the field….

PP#1 – Grayone (RED DAZZLER (AUS) x ROYAL APPLAUSE(GB) x SALT LAKE) 6/1
It’s fair to say that this colt has always raced above his weight. One ungraded stakes place doesn’t really rock my boat in his 21 starts. Raced 12 times as a 2yo with just two allowance wins and with just the win from nine starts this year he will not get my hard earned. Graded company looks too tough for him and I would say he may look at 10-12f on turf in allowance company after this.
Effort LTO was very disappointing when a 5/2 chance in small allowance field to finish 5th of 6 and will not get near the winner this week. Ranked 532 in division and will not improve on this.

PP#2 – Kayseri (DUKE OF MARMALADE (IRE) x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x KRIS(GB)) 7/2
Now this is what I like to see. 14 starts, 10 times ITM including 4 wins. Ranked 103 in division, brained opposition LTO with over 6 length winning margin and a proven graded performer with a G3 2nd place and G3 3rd place. 5 starts this year for 5/2-2-1 record shows good form however must step up a notch to graded company for first time in 2011. Races best when he stalks the leaders and looks to be in this up to his eye balls.
From two-time stakes winning mare who has 4 progeny – of which one is a stakes winner and another is a graded winner with Kayseri looking to improve on his graded placed status here…

PP#3 – Boo Boo Bee Boop (GREEN DESERT x DIESIS(GB) x STORM CAT) 6/1
Trainer nextbonus is certainly a ladies man – taking it slow and not being too eager to get to the grand prize…. Since the start of 2011, he has guided this well bred filly through 5 races for 4 wins and a second place including her first stakes win which was against the colts and was stakes placed LTO. Likes yielding turf but has proved herself on top of the ground as well. Will sit on the speed or lead this and the step up to 9.5f will suit her down to the ground. It is a shame she has not progressed quicker as she looks as if she could get a 12f classic.
Out of graded placed and two-time ungraded stakes winning mare, Boo Boo Bee Boop is currently ranked 62 in the division and will improve on this based on her last three performances.

PP#4 – Charles In Charge (INDIAN CHARLIE x ELUSIVE QUALITY x STORM CAT ) 6/1
This colt may find it tough here however the distance may well suit. Was gaining ground LTO and just missed a cheque in what was a photo finish for 3rd. If he can repeat that effort and swoop late, he can run top three. The race looks as if it may have some genuine pace and with his late charging style, he may just get there. Carries a 747 ranking in the division and if things align he could improve on it.

PP#5 – Frisco (DYLAN THOMAS (IRE) x SADLER’S WELLS x MILL REEF) 4/1
Has not really done too much wrong in his 12 turf starts. Very unlucky to run out of ground in his first race this year which would have seen him win four in a row before running 3rd in the G1 Italian Derby LTO. Breed to run ten furlongs plus, he was outclassed at the 12f by the top two runners but was far superior to all others and should give all opposition a real run for their money at 9.5f this week. Drew away by over three lengths in his first stakes race to take the winners cheque before the Derby and will certainly improve his 90 divisional rank. Has won when leading wire to wire and also sitting further back from leaders and his versatile racing ability may prove to help with this race.
From G1 placed and eight time stakes winning mare, Frisco is ready to go go…..

PP#6 – Code Of The Street (FUSAICHI PEGASUS x STORM CAT x AFFIRMED) 7/2
Cheeky little introduction to the turf LTO when he came charging home from over eight lengths down to just miss running ITM by a half length. Took some huge scalps in that run leaving them in his wake and looks to be in the mould of champion The Gun Went Off who also turned a promising dirt career into a world beating turf campaign – may not be as good but looks familiar…. Another parallel between the two is Code Of The Street’s apparent requirement for more ground as he looks to want at least 10f based on his turf runs and turf endeavour.
Code Of The Street is out of a G2 placed and ungraded stakes winning mare and is ranked outside the top 1000 for the division. Barring him breaking down or being shot in the stretch by an unsatisfied punter, he will run top 2 and look to a classic race soon. Did I mention that Lenny has trained a few decent horses…..

PP#7 – Rude Tude (APTITUDE x FORTY NINER x DANZIG) 4/1
Horrid bounce LTO or did he not handle the Graded stakes pressure – lets assume it was a bounce. Race record is 12/6-2-0 for $153,270 on turf – yes that’s right, turf. Despite his breeding all starts have been on turf and why not with that record. Two starts back he posted a 104 SP to take his first ungraded stakes cheque and looked to have 10f turf at his mercy. His breeding suggests he could murder them on dirt and this race really could determine which path he will take as a repeat performance of his stakes win will result in a Graded victory this week will surely thrust him towards the classics later in the year.
Ranked at 140 in the division and has already out performed his he-mare, Rude Tude is either set for something good or may badly disappoint…..

So there they are. My tips…..

1st – Code Of The Street
2nd – Kayseri
3rd – Boo Boo Bee Boop

Also include Rude Tude if you are looking to box 4 for a trifecta……….

Cheers,

Lado

[2

post-9332","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
