The Legoland (G3) is a mile long dirt race, open to all three-year-old horses and offering up a total purse of $100,000. We will have scattered thunderstorms at the track early this week, which will depart on Thursday, but the cloudy conditions on the days to follow will prohibit the track from drying out completely, leaving it listed as good for this weekends race. The weather may have had a factor in the number of runners we have this weekend, with a total of eleven horses going to the gate this weekend.
1. Saints Dance (IRE) – (Danehill Dancer (IRE) x Kingmambo x Danzig) – twoofus2 of Twoofus Stables – M. With a total of two wins in seven career starts, the brown colt has brought home $27,342 in lifetime earnings. His most recent start was in an allowance caliber race at eight and a half furlongs over the dirt. The colt won this race in wire to wire fashion with an impressive speed figure of ninety-one. This came immediately following his maiden victory at eight furlongs. The colt is versatile but has been showing his speedier side in his most recent races, though in the past he ran further off the pace. We’ll likely see him continue in his front-running ways this weekend, likely looking for the lead out of the gate.
2. Wild West Show – (Kodiak Kowboy x Summer Squall x Shirley Heights (GB)) – nadioprah of Novanora Stables – D. He is lightly raced with just six lifetime starts in his career, winning two of these starts. The horse made his most recent start here in Louisiana in the Sam’s Town Delta Jackpot (G3) at a eight and a half furlongs over a fast dirt track. The chestnut colt was one of the last out of the gate in the race, as he was held back in eleventh place for halfway through the race. When the field reached the final turn the colt finally started to slowly pick up the pace and moved into tenth. In the stretch the colt really started to pick up the pace on the outside. Despite his powerful stretch drive, the colt would cross the wire in sixth, seven and three-quarter lengths off the pace. He recorded a speed figure of ninety-four.
3. Silver Wager – (Silver Music x Valid Wager x Lear Fan) – silvermusic of The Golden Gale Stables – C. The homebred colt had his most recent start in December during the Sam’s Town Delta Jackpot (G3) at eight and a half furlongs on the dirt. The colt broke out of the gate and settled just ahead of the mid-pack runners in fifth position. As they came around the final turn, the colt started to make a move and went around horses to slide into third. As they came down the stretch though, the colt would run out of steam and finish fourth across the wire, six and a half lengths off the pace. He set a speed figure of ninety-five. Prior to this start the colt had won a listed stakes, The Snake Memorial, at six furlongs by a length and a quarter. Usually the colt is forwardly placed in his races, but in his two most recent starts he has been further back at the break. With the distance at eight furlongs, we can probably look for him around fourth or fifth out of the gate.
4. Candy Inferno – (Candy Ride (ARG) x Nureyev x Green Desert) – correction of Dixiedotco Racing -C. Wall – 13/1
Making just his fourth lifetime start over the dirt after beginning his career on the surface before trying out the turf, the Kentucky-bred colt is out of the graded placed broodmare Red Inferno. The colt made his most recent start at eight and a half furlongs in Nevada during the Pleasure Stakes (G3), in which he was one of the last horses out of the gate. However, the colt put in a tremendous stretch drive, but only enough to get him home for fifth at the wire. He set a lifetime best speed figure of eighty-six. His prior dirt start, at allowance level, ended in a two and three-quarter length win for the brown colt. The colt will likely either be running as a stalker this weekend at the rear of the field, or he could be guided up further ahead to run in the middle of the pack.
5. Hail The Band – (Bluegrass Cat x Dixieland Band x Saint Ballado) – kingswan of Sledge4 Stables – Bo. Ryan – 10/1
Finishing off the board only twice so far in his career, the impressive colt has made a total of six career starts. The Kentucky-bred last saw the track in late November during the Club Stakes (G2) at eight and a half furlongs. Placed near the back of the field for the majority of the eight and a half furlong race, the colt didn’t make any moves until the stretch. Despite gaining a lot of ground on the rest of the field, he only got up to finish fifth in the race at the wire. He set a speed figure of eighty-nine. Prior to this the colt won an eight furlong allowance race by a length. The brown colt is a versatile runner, usually running at the back of the field or mid-pack in his races.
6. Hooskick Street – (A.P. The colt broke out of the gate and slid into a mid-pack running position for the early part of the race. He gained some ground in the turn before the stretch, but would fade when it came to coming down to the wire. The brown colt finished seventh, seven and three-quarter lengths off the pace, with a recorded speed figure of ninety-four. His only other stakes start, in this case a listed stakes, in the GRSimsters Championships – 2yo Juvy Dirt Restricted, also resulted in a seventh place finish. His most recent win was at allowance level, by one and three-quarter lengths, over the distance of a mile. He’s never seen an off track to date. The colt will likely vary somewhere between running just off the pace in third position or so out of the gate, to running in more of a mid pack position.
7. Xmas Parade – (Grand Martial x Awesome Again x Raise A Native) – simond4 of Hornedfrog Stables – I. The brown colt has never finished off of the board in any of these starts. He has won two races to date. The most recent start for the three-year-old was an eight and a half furlong allowance race run over a sloppy dirt course in Ohio last December. He took the race in wire to wire fashion, winning by half a length while setting a speed figure of eighty-five, a lifetime best for the colt and nearly a full ten points up from his prior start which came over the fast dirt. The colt is out of the stakes placed broodmare Alliwantforxmas. This colt too will likely be out for the lead this weekend, likely looking for it right out of the gate.
8. Gone For Gimlets (JPN) – (Tanino Gimlet (JPN) x Gone West x Sadler’s Wells) – skunkfeed of Skunkbarn Stables – T. This weekend’s race will be the first try at dirt for the colt and just his second start in the States. He made his most recent start in the Bred To Blitz (AUS) Stakes, a listed stakes race at seven and a half furlongs in New Zealand. This year the race was run over yielding turf. The colt took off right out on the lead at the start of the race, but ended up fading to finish third as they crossed the wire. He set a speed figure of ninety-three. His most recent win was also overseas, this time in Ireland during the Nationwide Stakes (G2) at seven furlongs. He would win in wire to wire fashion by a length and three-quarters. The colt has gone a mile only once, in the Grand Critter Stakes (G2) in which he finished second. He will undoubtedly be a speed influence this weekend, and will likely be our pacesetter this weekend. His biggest challenge will likely be the surface change.
9. Well Sensed – (Street Sense x Sadler’s Wells x Afleet) – zooom of Zooomr Stables – A. He made his most recent start, along with many of the other contenders in this field, during the Sam’s Town Delta Jackpot (G3) at eight and a half furlongs here in Louisiana. The colt broke for the lead in this race, but began to fade as they entered the last turn. By the tame the field made it into the stretch, it was game over for the colt, who would cross the wire eleven and three-quarter lengths back in tenth position. He set a speed figure of eighty-nine. The colts most recent victory was in the mile long Darling-Squash Futurity (G3) which he won by a nose in a photo finish. The colt is a versatile runner, but usually doesn’t go out to the lead as he did in his most recent start. He will usually hang back towards the middle of the field, either making a gradual early move or being asked to bide his time until the field starts to approach the final leg of the race.
10. Tiz Flappin’ Now – (Dixie Chatter x Tiznow x Forty Niner) – tracktailes of Universal Racing Club Inc. – F. The chestnut colt hails from California and is out of the broodmare Tiz Reasonable. The colts most recent start came in New Jersey in the Cupid’s Companion Memorial, a listed stakes race covering eight and a half furlongs over the dirt. The colt broke eighth in the pack out of the gate and started to move forward in the final turn. The chestnut would show his turn of foot down the stretch as he went on to win to two and a half lengths and post a lifetime best speed figure of ninety-nine, also easily besting the other horses that will be in the field this weekend. He has had a single graded start, this coming in The Nashua Special (G3) at eight furlongs in which he put in a speed figure of ninety-one, though only crossed the wire in sixth. The colt will be placed somewhere between mid-pack and at the back of the field.
11. Birditude – (Aptitude x Birdstone x Alleged) – randy5 of Randy619 Stables – JR. The Kentucky-bred colt has won two of his five lifetime starts, with all of his races coming over the fast dirt. His most recent start was in a local bred allowance race in Eastern Kentucky at eight and a half furlongs. The colt took off out of the gate and went straight to the lead in the field. He continued to lead the way for much of the race until the field reached the stretch where he finally started to wear down and would ultimately finish second across the wire. He was beaten back by a length and three-quarters, though he set down a speed figure of eighty-nine. His sole graded stakes start was in the Bluegrass Cup Juvenile (G3) at eight and a half furlongs, in which the colt would finish fifth, again after taking the lead right at the break. He is yet another colt in this weekends race that will be vying for that first-place position out of the gate.
Flrancho’s Picks
Win: Wild West Show
Place: Tiz Flappin’ Now
Show: Hail The Band

[2

post-8802","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
