District of Columbia<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> is the place to be for this week\u2019s edition of the Spotlight race of the week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The third race is the selected race which features a good sized field of fillies and mares running a distance of a mile and three quarters on the dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This is a claiming race with a tag of $2500 and the race also has a purse of $2500 and the race is restricted for fillies and mares age 4 or older.<\/P>

1.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Blue Blue Moon\u00a0 <\/SPAN>7-1<\/SPAN>-Career speed mark of 84 was set at this track in October, 2009 in 12 furlong starter allowance finishing 3rd<\/SUP>.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has run in fields of 10 or more 16 times with only one win which doesn\u2019t point to a winner.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Does like track and may factor into triple, however, this is offset as she has been racing every two weeks since November 6th<\/SUP> and speed numbers have been on decline.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/P>

2.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Walk With Mamie\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>15-1<\/SPAN>-Speeds have been in mid 60\u2019s to mid 70\u2019s range.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Mare has been winless in last 21 starts and has only one win in 33 tries.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Seems to be racing at appropriate claim level.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hard to see her in winner\u2019s circle and sole start on this track back in mid 2009 wasn\u2019t productive.<\/P>

3.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Extending Grace\u00a0 <\/SPAN>12-1<\/SPAN>-Has done well in the three low level claiming races she\u2019s been in with a win and third as maiden and second in NW2L conditional, which happened to set her 81 career best speed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She looks to be in a good spot in this race and will need to get into 80-speed numbers again.<\/P>

4.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Matter of Crime\u00a0 <\/SPAN>5-1<\/SPAN>-Trainer Jijiji took ownership of this lady in the Spring of 2009 and DC seems to be the home track for racing this gal.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In 11 starts on this track, she has a place and three shows.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Since November 2008, her lowest speeds have been in races of 10 furlongs or more.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She\u2019ll be going 14 furlongs for first time and doesn\u2019t seem to figure well.<\/P>

5.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Frighttime Phantom\u00a0 <\/SPAN>14-1<\/SPAN>-Mare has high in-the-money percentage, hitting board 23 times in 29 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Faces field of 10 or more for first time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Been racing at higher levels and may have class advantage, but this is off side with speed numbers being on low side, generally in upper 60\u2019s to mid 70\u2019s.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Toss-up.<\/P>

6.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Arranged\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>51-1<\/SPAN>– 9-year old mare approaching retirement with 92 races under belt, leaving 8 more to go.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>2010 speeds ranged in 50\u2019s to 60\u2019s, but did pop a 79 once.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has been off board in last 13 starts and chances here are not rosy unless she can pop another big speed number.<\/P>

7.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Betty Davis Eyes\u00a0 <\/SPAN>15-1<\/SPAN>-Decently bred Corinthian mare has had tough time on the track.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Switched from dirt to turf with only 10 days rest and fared poorly.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Returns back to dirt and tries 14 furlongs for first time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She didn\u2019t race well in her last outing, and I feel it was related to the short rest.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She again gets short rest coming into this race and I expect similar results.<\/P>

8.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I Make it Rain\u00a0 <\/SPAN>2-1<\/SPAN>-This lady likes racing in January.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In 4 starts, she\u2019s 1-2-1 during the month.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has an average speed of 84 over last 5 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Takes a sizeable drop in class from $100k claimers as well as allowance races and pair of stakes she tried out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has been resting since late November and looks well placed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Wouldn\u2019t be surprised if claimed from race either.<\/P>

9.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Tootsie Bite\u00a0 <\/SPAN>3-1<\/SPAN>-Claimed for 5k in win on 12\/18 over sloppy track with speed of 80.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has been galloping with speeds in upper 70\u2019s to upper 80\u2019s since late summer.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has pair of seconds over DC track, including career speed record of 92 set last January.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Strong late closer could get the job done, but 2 weeks rest is something to consider.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Another one who may get claimed despite being 9.<\/P>

10. Lawn Grooming T\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>8-1<\/SPAN>-This lady has been busy in 2010 with 15 races resulting in a record of 4-1-3.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speeds since this past summer have been mid 70\u2019s to mid 80\u2019s.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In fields of 10 or more, she\u2019s been on board twice in 11 races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hard to figure but is down to low claimers where she has done well in past.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

A couple of horses have early speed, but nothing dependable.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019m making Tootsie Bite top pick with her late kick.<\/P>

Second choice to I Make it Rain who is on class drop and speed numbers are better than others in the field.<\/P>
