The final run of 2010 and then we start it all up again, but what a final week for simland with the help of DPCD. Thanks a bunch from all the rest of us that get to share your generosity.
I picked the Grade II Dancing Blade to preview because I have a filly in it, and that adds quite a bit to My interest in the field. The race is for 2yr old fillies going a mile on the turf, and it’s a very deep field of fillies, but I think I can speak for all of their owners, all but a couple that is, in saying we hope ‘The Libertine’and ‘Infection’ decide to take the day off. Well, I guess even if they don’t take it easy on us there’s eleven other trainers with an idea of upset these two fine fillies in their mind. So now let’s take a look at the field from the rail out.

pp)1 – 7/1 – JUNMAI GINJYO(KY) – 2tohold – Simply Super stables (also trainer of The Libertine mentioned above)decided this Distorted Humor/Dynaformer gal deserves a shot because she just won this race 4 weeks ago. Winner of The Dancing Blade Stakes in her last out she has to be the hunch bet of the field. How stupid are you going to feel when the winner of The Dancing Blade Stakes wins The Dancing Blades Stakes ? Her habit of running faster every time out while coming off an 88spd at the distance should worry everybody else amply.

pp2) – 20/1 – MONT SMURF(SWE) – calle2 – Nickesyd Irish based stables brings a lightly raced long shot, a Heart Of Oak(SWE)/Montjeu collaboration that has been quite successful to date. Her last out was a 9.5f stakes where she ran 2nd with an 85spd. I’m now wondering if she can adjust to the mile, due to her closing from around nine lengths back at the 9.5f route. As far as her contending today, I feel it could go either way, but my hunch is she’ll want more ground, so you should be in pretty good shape with my track record for predictions.

pp3) – 7/1 – START THE CLOCK(KY) – cashcall – Flagdown Stables from Pastures of Green res appears to have a live one with this 51st ranked Unbridled’s Song/Galileo filly. She’s thrown back to back 90spd#’s at the mile on the turf condition, her last start being a second place finish with stakes company. Now this one I have a hunch wants a bit more ground,(these hunches are the result of having my own filly’s well being in mind) either that or she’s going to explode with another big step forward at the mile, which won’t help my chances but is likely nonetheless.

pp4)- 16/1 – SOUTH CONDUIT(JPN) – justicesmu – Legendary Stables from GR Simsters has this price shot filly coming in off a new high 83spd in a GR sim turf mile restricted stake condition. It appears this Conduit/Pivotal filly is going to prefer the grass, and she may really enjoy coming right back at a mile on the grass, but I think she may need a bit more seasoning to compete for top honors with this Graded type of field.

pp5)- 8/1 – INVISIBILITY CLOAK(IRE) – wistful3 – Topicount’s stable’s brings in the #13 ranked Grade III winning filly on quite a roll. I’ve been watching this gal for awhile as her sire/damsire breeding matches my fillys (who’s further out the pp line) with an Invincible Spirit/Diesis match. She exits the Breeder’s Bowl Filly mile where she ran a new best 91spd# finishing 5th . Prior to that she won a stakes event at 8.5f, but seemed to really want the mile if you base it on the spd#’s. Now she comes right back at the mile and is plenty tough. She does her running late, and should be in the mix coming down the stretch.

pp6) – 10/1 – PATA(KY) – usoz – The familiar R R silks of Rafa Stables will step into the sixth gate with the 35th ranked filly, a Birdstone/Sadler’s Wells mix that’s doing quite well. Her last effort resulted in a stakes winning 88spd# mile on the turf, prior to that finshed a real close up 4th vs Grade II, so she don’t mind the company she’s keeping today. She runs right up close to the pace and grinds it out to the wire, so she’ll also take some beating. If she can get first jump on the field, she may take it all the way home.

pp7) – 20/1 – THE ISLE OF SKYE(AUS) – jarrod3 – Red and Black striped silks of Corza stables adorn this Incosta De Lago/ Point Given filly. The good news is she’s undefeated, more questionable news is that she’s ran once at 6.5f on the turf vs maidens. More good news, she won that race, the 73spd# leaves a bit of work to do here, but Corza may have a real good judge of ability at these conditions after this one. You never really know about these 2nd time runners, but, not this late in the year vs Graded is a pretty safe stand to take.

pp8) – 5/1 – THE LIBERTINE(KY) – ritchie – Simply Super brings filly #2 to the race. Not only is she the second filly from this stable grouping, she’s also the 2nd ranked filly in this division. Her Giant’s Causeway/Kingmambo blood clicked so impressively two starts back when winning vs open co. in the Grade II Grand Critter Stakes with a 96spd# at the turf mile. The bounce in the Breeder’s Bowl was somewhat expected, but so is the overpowering return trip off the bounce. That’s what has me thinking she’ll be very tough to hold off this time around, though she may have to catch an unbeaten ‘Infection’ in the stretch in order to claim top prize.

pp9) – 11/1 – RHUM BOOGIE(KY) – lujac – Lujac Stable of Lujac stable has a fine bred filly with Smart Strike/Storm Cat lines. She has steadily improved since switching to the turf mile, her best to date was a last out 86spd# for a 4th plaace finish vs Grade III. She’s going to need another big step forward to contend here it would appear.

pp10) – 16/1 – IT RUBS THE LOTION(AUS) – hewett – Briant Breeding and Racing Empire send their Redoute’s
Choice/ Theatrical filly in off a two race win streak where she broke her maiden and then won an Alw race both at a mile on the turf. Her spd#’s are low for this group, but maybe she’s just going fast enough to win and she’ll find a new gear when needed. Oh by the way, it’s definately going to be needed.

pp11) – 7/1 – D’S SPIRIT(IRE) – thereason – Here she is, my 4th ranked filly with the Invincible Spirit/Diesis mix that brings two girls to this dance. In her last out at the Breeder’s Bowl she was supposed to be my “other” filly as I had ‘Special Me’ in the race and Special Me didn’t do her best finishing 6th right behind INVISIBILITY CLOAK(IRE). As it turned out it was D’s Spirit’s day to shine as she ran a new high 94spd# to finish 3rd in Breeder’s Bowl. If she wasn’t mine I’d have an even stronger hunch that she may well bounce off that Breeder’s effort.

pp12) – 5/1 – INFECTION(GB) – jonsnow2 – Given Stables of GR Simster fame brings in the co-fave and why not, as she is undefeated in her first five runs. Her last three wins have come at a mile on the turf, including the GR Simsters restricted stakes where she ran a 96spd# to take the cup. As with my filly to the inside of her, she’s coming off a real big run and will need to avoid the dreaded bounce to extend her win streak. Nobody’s beat her yet so that bounce isn’t as predictable here, but to remain undefeated you never get to have an off day. Given will know more about his filly after this one.

pp13) – 12/1 – CIOPPINO(KY) – harvey – HEY the trifecta has arrived as Simply Super brings filly number three to the fray. This Malibu Monn/Danehill Dancer filly ships in off a Grade II second in Hong Kong, where she ran an 85spd# going the turf mile. Always a good sign to do well against Graded company regardless of the spd#, it seems to bode well for the future. If she can outrun her stablemate I’d bet she won the race, because I don’t see her friend ‘The Libertine’ being denied.

Best of luck to all, and remember you can’t win a Graded race if not entered in one.
