In the preview for this race I called the winner a ‘hard worker who will give 100%…’ Well, I was spot on there. Unfortunately, I also said he ‘seemed a bit overmatched against the first two favorites.’ Well, one outta two. <\/P>
Lil Dog E. <\/STRONG>stayed out of trouble and ran a great race, showing tons of heart as he edged front-running favorite Russian Theatre <\/STRONG>by a scant 1\/4 length Saturday in South Dakota’s Courage Under Fire <\/EM>‘Cap. Normally hard-closing finisher (and 2nd favorite at just less than 2\/1) High Five II<\/STRONG> took third from longshot Mischief Maker, <\/STRONG>but had nothing at the end and was a well-beaten 8 3\/4 lengths from the winner.<\/P> Lil Dog E. is\u00a0a son of Sadler’s Wells (from an Awesome Again mare) and trained by samsonfarm<\/EM> stable. He’s run faster times before, but I’m not sure he’s ever shown more heart and determination than he did this race.
