This is the second installment of what will hopefully be an ongoing weekly series of \u201cSpotlight\u201d races.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The intent of the \u201cSpotlight Race of the Week\u201d is to draw focus to some of the non-graded stake races and give some attention and recognition to trainers and their horses that don\u2019t compete at that level.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

In the first race, I was successful in picking the winner.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The pressure is on so let\u2019s see if we can make it two weeks in a row.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This week, the spotlight points to the eighth\u00a0 <\/SPAN>race in Argentina<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It\u2019s an allowance race at 5 furlongs for all horses 4 years old an up on the dirt with a purse of $26,000.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>We have a field of 8 entered and here are the contenders:<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

\u00a0<\/SPAN>1.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Super Time\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN>4-1<\/SPAN>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>-Front running horse who has done well in allowance sprints.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Super is 1-3-4 in 9 starts this year.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Needs to find a way to hold on to lead.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Looks to be a factor in the exotic wagers.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

2.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Color Me Bald\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>3-1<\/SPAN> \u2013Another front runner with a 2010 record of 1-0-7 in 10 starts.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speed numbers are a blip better than Super Time and will also need to find a way to make it to the wire on top.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Also factors into the exactas.<\/P>

3.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Imperioso\u00a0 <\/SPAN>38-1<\/SPAN> \u2013Imperioso has one win in 23 career starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He broke his maiden this past September and his career best speed is a 92.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s in a tough spot as many others in this race are consistent with speeds of 90 and higher.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Looks over matched and may be more competitive in the claiming ranks.<\/P>

4.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Goldisgood\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>6-1<\/SPAN>\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>-This horse has seen a lot of race time this year with 14 starts and a record of 2-1-2.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has averaged a speed of about 90 over his last five starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He moves up to the allowance after a brief stint in moderate claimers.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Gold has been off the board in last 6 allowance starts and recent trends show him tiring in last quarter to half of race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Does take drop in distance which may help.<\/P>

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/P>

5.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Eleven Euros \u00a0\u00a0<\/SPAN>5-1<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>\u2013This late closing horse found some success late last year and the earlier part of this season running and winning in $40k claimers.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In April, he won a 5f allowance with a speed of 102, his sole race north of 100.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Since this milestone, he\u2019s averaged a speed of 91 in three races at the allowance, starter and stake race levels.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Could be a bit of a price if he gets back to his earlier form.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

6.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>S J W\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>77-1<\/SPAN> \u2013SJW has been on the board twice this year in 14 starts, both in his first two starts of 2010.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>SJW is simply outclassed at the allowance level and he has one win in 39 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He might find better success in the lower\u00a0 <\/SPAN>claiming levels, perhaps even in turf events, but just doesn\u2019t fit here.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

7.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Another Word\u00a0 <\/SPAN>7-1<\/SPAN> \u2013This horse has the ability to pop a speed of 100 or higher which makes him a threat.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He doesn\u2019t hit the board often as his 1-1-1 record this season reflects in 10 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Another moves up from claimers and looks to have outside chance of scoring upset.<\/P>

8. Fulldrive\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>9-5<\/SPAN> \u2013Fulldrive is the favorite in the race, the heavy favorite, but he can be beaten.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This year, he has been the crowd favorite 6 times and was beaten in 5 of those starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s in a nice spot and has late speed with numbers ranging from 94 up to 112 during 2010.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He drops in distance which may be a disadvantage as he may run out of room for his late speed to drive him to the lead.<\/P>

Fulldrive needs to time late rally perfectly and top rider Seifert (30% win) can do that, making this horse my top choice, but is beatable.<\/P>

Color Me Bald gets my second selection, barely.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His speeds are just a tad better than Super Time, who is my third pick.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Either of these may find a way to hold on and beat the favorite.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Best to box all three in triples and exactas.<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
