This is my first of what I hope many \u201cSpotlight\u201d races.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>While many of the articles written for the BTB cover the big graded races, and rightly so, I\u2019ve checked with the powers-to-be (Thanks Squirrel!) and have obtained approval to start this series.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The intent of the \u201cSpotlight Race of the Week\u201d is to randomly pick a non-graded race and do a race review, and hopefully pick a winner.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>At the same time, hopefully trainers that don\u2019t have horses racing at the high levels will have a chance to have some recognition given to one of their entrants.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

With that said, the initial race I\u2019ll be covering is in Minnesota, a 15,000 Starter Allowance to be run on the dirt track at a distance of 7f, open to fillies and mares age 4 and over.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This is a bid race for Trainer Slowjet who enters Hoochie Glide and hopes for a repeat win in the same race he had last month.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/SPAN>1.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hoochie Glide\u00a0 <\/SPAN>10-1<\/SPAN>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>-Been racing at allowance level much of 2010 and took drop to claimers in September.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Last race in starters with nice closing move to gain win in speed of 92.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has home field advantage.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

2.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Blue\u2019s Riff\u00a0 <\/SPAN>52-1<\/SPAN> -Dirt bred horse that just has not executed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Won her first race but has been shut out in last 16 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Ran mostly allowance, dropped to $4k claimer in last with no results.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speed numbers are low and looks unlikely.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Maybe time to try out the turf.<\/P>

3.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Profound\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>5-2<\/SPAN> -She\u2019s been putting up great speed numbers throughout 2010, mainly 93 up to 106.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Claimed by Heckleb in June after winning 4 in row for Tsunami20 for mere $5k.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Rough start for new connection in first 2 starts running at higher starter levels.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Dropped in October and responded with win.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Fits here.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

4.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Parce Que\u00a0 <\/SPAN>20-1<\/SPAN>\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>-Parce Que has had a hard time finding a stable to stay in.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Trainer Simpride1 is the fifth one trying their luck with this girl this year.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She\u2019s been heavily raced this year with 15 starts already with a record of 3-2-1.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Much of that success was at lower level claimers and at the 9 furlong distance.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Doesn\u2019t seem to fit in this moderate level starter race but does have recent win at 7.5f.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/P>

5.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>New Fallen Rain\u00a0 <\/SPAN>38-1<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>\u2013This mare last visited the winner\u2019s circle at the end of 2009 and has been winless in her last 14 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She hit the board once this season, a recent third.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Going off at 38-1 are highest odds she has seen and it looks like her woes will continue.<\/P>

6.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Princess Roy\u00a0 <\/SPAN>10-1<\/SPAN> \u2013There looks to be value in this entrant.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Horse has been lightly raced this year with 6 starts to date.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>From February to June she raced on grass 3 times with fair results.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Switched back to dirt in September and has won two straight with speeds of 90 and 99.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Longshot players dream!<\/P>

7.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Talladega Gal\u00a0 <\/SPAN>10-1<\/SPAN> \u2013Talladega<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> like to run near the leaders but has history of tiring in final furlongs.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She has one win since April 2009 with most of the races at allowance level.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Not looking to promising.<\/P>

8. Woette\u2019s Holiday<\/st1:place>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>40-1<\/SPAN> -5 year old is on to 7th<\/SUP> trainer, Thestable, who has tried her at a variety of distances and class levels.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Still winless since the end of \u201909 and has only 3 wins in over 40 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speed numbers are low and her best results have been at the $2k level in both claimers and starters.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Overmatched here<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

9.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Smart N Lucky\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>6-1<\/SPAN> -5 of last 6 races with speeds of 90 or higher with 3 thirds and 3 fourths in those races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She shows some late speed, class level fits nicely and could be a factor in the triples<\/P>

10.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Camp<\/st1:PlaceType> Out<\/st1:PlaceName>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>15-1<\/SPAN>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>–Camp<\/st1:PlaceType> Out<\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place> has been struggling most of her career with only 3 wins in 22 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She is able to pop speeds in the 90\u2019s but not with any regularity.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Seems to run best on wet track.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Could get a piece of the pie if she can get the speed going.<\/P>

11. Saints Town Honor\u00a0 <\/SPAN>5-1<\/SPAN>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>-Started \u201910 season on turf with decent results, hitting the board regularly.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Continued with success when returned to dirt in August.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Won last two going mile +.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speeds are good but may not have enough time to execute late speed with drop in distance<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

12.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Lake<\/st1:PlaceType> Pal<\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>8-1<\/SPAN> \u2013Ran well on wet track earlier in career.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Last 3 were on wet surface and she just couldn\u2019t last in higher claimers.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Probably pace setter who has done well on dry track this year and could put in a game effort with a bit of a break in class.<\/P>

13.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Heart n Dixie<\/st1:place>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>7-1<\/SPAN> -Heart hasn\u2019t one a race since July, 2009 and been on board only 3 times in 14 starts since.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Best shot looks to be if she can set pace, and that doesn\u2019t happen much.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Tough times look to continue.<\/P>

Profound has her act together lately, speeds are good and has won 5 of last 7.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Gets my top pick.<\/P>

Princess Roy looks to be making a positive turn for the better since returning to the dirt and offers nice reward at 10-1.<\/P>

Hoochie Glide won on this track in last start and showed good late speed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Worth a shot.<\/P>
