In trying a new method for writing a btb article I teamed up with the head honcho of the upstart Blazing Saddles Residency to chat horses and dope races… The outcome might not be what everyone expects but i think it will make a good read… We took the kid gloves off because every trainer and every horse in this race has had a phenomenal season and no one needs any more pats on the back… If you got here you are better than pretty much anything in the sim… But still some are more great than others… The Dirt Mile is one the most important races on the card today and we will here some pretty sharp tongued comments so take this as a warning the faint of heart or thin skinned owners can close this article down now…

larry 9:34 pm
btw I agree you did much more work on turf i will balance that with the dirt

markkelly1976 9:36 pm
One of the many 6-1 co favs in this race telling me its a bit wide open
larry 9:36 pm
beautifully bred and lightly raced storm cat x mr p… doesn’t really have that one superstar win that marks the best in this race… has top level figs in opens but can he step forward in a race of the best?

markkelly1976 9:37 pm
got mixed feelings on this guy obviously its a hypomating wet dream

larry 9:37 pm
odds are likely a bit overlayish based on how well he is run in opens

markkelly1976 9:37 pm
yet I feel incomplete because he feels like he got in on the basis of that 4 yr old only restricted race last out and will face a harsh battle on the front end today
larry 9:38 pm
not for me but pretty to look at

markkelly1976 9:38 pm

and he loves this guy for good reason.. the spf’s are amazingly consistent and eye popping large

markkelly1976 9:39 pm
Legend has made it to his 3rd Breeder’s Bowl mile after finishing 3rd in 08 and 1st in 09, perhaps a 2nd place finish today to round out the tri ?
larry 9:40 pm
Dan is hoping he has the missing juice at 6

markkelly1976 9:41 pm
indeed laz his form appears more erratic now but could still have one big one left in him

larry 9:41 pm
and he has prepped for this mile like it was a sprint

markkelly1976 9:41 pm
Only oddity I see is that this prep was a Rodot and not a bought planned one seems extremely odd plus it was some time ago

larry 9:41 pm
will he have the heart in that last click or will he come up short thinking the race is over after 7
certainly classy but his stable mate might be the one to watch

markkelly1976 9:42 pm
Feels like a toss to me this go around but I do acknowledge his greatness and wish him the best

dan said “Probably one of the more talented 3yo’s I’ve had, this Tiznow colt was pretty good as a 2yo, winning a G1 at a mile, and then as a 3yo won the Equinics mile race. It seems like most G1 winning 2yo’s don’t run on as 3yo’s, but this colt has pedigree on his side, as his half-brother, Doth’raki, won G1’s as a 2yo, 3yo, and 4yo! The Beggar King has been sprinting his last four races including a close 2nd in the King’s Bishop, and I think he should be very sharp for this race.”

INAUGURATION has been great this year, his win in the Eddie Haskell was a great race. He would have been able to draw into the Classic, but we felt the Mile would suit him better. He was a bit of a departure pedigree wise for us and I bred him while I was watching Obama’s inauguration on tv. I think he is sitting on a big race and should run well Saturday. from whirlwind

markkelly1976 9:54 pm
Slightly better then our joint horse honoring Obama (Obamination)

larry 9:55 pm
you can say that twice and I guess honoring the win was a better idea than our class statement

markkelly1976 9:55 pm

This guy was 7th in last yrs BB Juvy so its impressive to see him back again but it was largely on the back of the huge Haskell win
larry 9:55 pm
he might have been better off in the classic

larry 10:21 pm
Motion Dismissed (Dirt Mile) – This guy is a funny one. After showing massive ability as a 3yo (huge 114 speed figure in just his 9th start), he seemed to plateau. And it lasted forever… he never could take that next step, and in fact was having problems consistently beating allowance horses. This summer, after finally getting him in reasonable form, figured might as well make that move up to stakes. And he responded with a solid 2nd in a fast overnight stakes. The G1 for 4yo’s only popped up on the schedule, and that fit him to a tee. He proved that was no fluke by beating solid runners of all ages in the G2 after that. He’s had a pretty busy campaign, so I wanted to give him a break after that race to get him ready for the BB. But I didn’t want to go into the big one off an 8-week break. So I gave him a nice easy spin in an allowance which was solely a prep. He’s set up perfectly for a huge effort on Saturday. Based on how sharp he is right now, I honestly think he’s the one they all have to beat. The fact that there should be a TON of early speed to set up his kick is a big positive as well.
dixie is the ef hutton of the sim so when he talks i print every word
