Proper Parade got just the cushion he was looking for, and went wire to wire to capture this week’s Tuff Gong(IRE) Memorial. He stretched out the field to the top of the stretch, and held off a couple of furious closers to take a half length triumph at the wire. This is his second stakes victory, and it moves him up to forty fourth in the Older Turf Sprinters division. He posted a 104.5 speed, his best since early July.

Proper Parade left little doubt to as to what he wanted, opening up a clear lead right from the brake. He was shadowed early by Robot Pimples(GB) and Food Of The Gods. Food Of The Gods faded quickly in the second half, but honorable mention has to go to longshot Robot Pimples(GB) for digging in and holding on in a tough field, taking fourth place. By the time they hit the stretch, it looked like Proper Parade was going to walk away without a challenge, with Robot Pimples(GB) a length and a half back and four and a half lengths to the next competitor. A couple of the other contenders had other ideas though, with Offstage(GB) and Weed Rat(IRE) both making furious closes down the stretch, making a thriller out of this one. Offstage(GB), from nearly six lengths out at the half, ate up four lengths down the stretch, making it to within a half length, still closing at the wire to grab second place. Weed Rat(IRE) was seven out at the half, and closed nearly five in the stretch to finish third two and a quarter out.
