As I recall it, this may have easily been my best one since starting out as a simulated jockey. Just last month all this culminated in a second place finish on Kafka(OK) in The Coney Island G3 followed by a win in The Cup Of Europe also G3(G1 in the alternative reality-sic!) aboard Buddenbrook(FL) the following week-both horses prepared by my regular sponsors from platero y yo stables. But, now, can you imagine how disappointed I was this week after the last morning work on Incadenza, the moment when platero pretended to be broke and so he told me that he had to cancel my engagement and save the cost of my flight to Newmarket for the Duetoburst Stakes. Come on, man, instead he hired Newmarket’s top jockey A. Craig!?

I would have gone by feet and swam through the English Channel for free to participate in this race. Btw aboard Inca’ I felt really sharp this week. I think platero either feared the disgrace if I would have to give some interviews there(as you may have noticed, my english is not so good-I am just trying not to mangle the english language all to much), or it was a mental thing for which I have to blame this jupiter guy, who was not amused about my ride on his Cosa Mentale last Saturday.

Never mind was my first thought, we have a last hurrah with the Winter Gin Special in Germany, and the phone would hopefully ring anyway-but it is getting apocalyptic: outside cold and silence is covering the inside of my apartment. This is the time for two pullover and hot tea with honey or for the Winter Gin. In this case I prefer the latter, so here are my recipe for the Winter Gin:

peel a piece of ginger and cut it into 5 or 6 thin slices, stir it with gin(a gusto), liquid sugar(one third compared to the gin) and lemon juice(half part), fill up with crushed ice and eject little dashes of soda water, still stir all well, finally garnish it with leaves of mint and a halved kumquat in the tumbler, cheers!

Now to get one’s act together I have to plagiarize this Iant guy; I really like to read his btb articles, except if he covers one of my muppet horses.

It is incredible with how much information about the sires he provides us! I see only one pitfall that is that I think he makes a category mistake in his comparison between simulation and reality. For me those are two different entities. If Mike always would adjust the suggested modifications, on a day by day basis in the worst case, I think the simulation would get very tedious soon. If a sire is released here in the simulation, he can fulfill his ideal state of life, thankfully there are no incalculable fertility issues, our simulated horses are not at risk of life-threatening injuries etc.

In contradiction to Iant I would like to demand that the reality has to adapt to the simulation -yes, this would be more useful for betting- which is chronological anyway ahead of the reality, and nevertheless I think Mike is really doing an incredible good job at his (not only freshman) sire ratings, for example the above mentioned Buddenbrook, one of my rare graded winners, is by, you guess, the leading first crop sire in America Congrats, so my only complain would be, why did I have to wait three and a half years till he wins a graded race?

Sorry, I totally missed the point today. In the Winter Gin or better in the real life counterpart here in Germany the reigning queen(in german: Koenigin, therefore Winterkoenigin- that’s a speciality of the german language, you can add noun after noun together) of the 2 yo fillies will be crowned. Normally the winner of this race over a mile on turf will be the favorite for the ladies derby equivalent called The Diana next year.

Here are the pedigrees of the real life participants:

Aigrette Garzette (Peintre Celebre x Gone West x Green Desert)

Danedream (Lomitas x Danehill x High Top)

Wolkenburg (Big Shuffle x Alkalde x Nebos)

Achinora (Sleeping India x Seattle Dancer x Arctic Tern)

Dalarna (Dashing Blade x Koenigsstuhl x Nebos)

Djumana (Aussie Rules x Barathea x Shirley Hights)

Global Magic (Lando x Darshaan x Windwurf)

Lips Poison (Mamool x Ashkalani x Royal Academy)

Sword Style (Desert Style x Laroche x Windwurf)

Temida (Oratorio x Red Ransom x Sadler’s Wells)

Turia (Call Me Big x Turfkoenig x Nandino)

Aigrette Garzette is the deserving favorite with one of our best jockeys Andrasch Starke by one of our best trainer and horseman in general Peter Schiergen and furthermore in relations to the pedigree(although nothing special), as I see it, in simulation or in the parallel universe.

The other pedigrees from a simulated point of view: the rest is a nightmare.

Now, finally I am coming to the only 5 entrants in the Winter Gin Special.

In contrast to reality in this small field nearly everyone who is anyone in the sim shows up:

Trainer confessor(24,7% wins) from the mighty Given Stables(24,6%) saddles the 7/5 favorite SPRING SICKNESS(IRE) unbeaten in 2 races and backed up by Germany’s top jockey T. She won a maiden and an allowance over the mile and already placed 2nd in The Animale-G3, in which she showed the best SF of 87 for this entire field. Her sire is Cape Cross mated with the sex-changed D ranked Empire Inferno(Empire Maker x Nureyev). Although there is inbreeding in this horse too, I like this breeding a lot, because you find 12 different useful sire names in the simple breeding pattern. And the best is she always showed improvement in all her four races and her two wins were both here in Germany under J. Walsh. So she is the horse for this course.

The last one is BLIND TOUCH(KY). I find this a pretty adequate and congenial name for the global character of this simulation. Blind Touch was produced when Touch Gold met the B ranked mare Light Blinds. So she has a well balanced 4x4x4 Northern Dancer inbreeding. Although she only won once in five races, she increased her SF from race to race.

If my buddy C.
