Ah, the first weekend in October, one of the biggest weekends of the year when it comes to graded stakes. If you properly place your horse you could be headed to the Breeders Bowl, which for the next two years will be in Kentucky. Eastern Kentucky has two grade three races this weekend for the two year olds, both on the turf. For two year olds, sometimes just a grade 3 will get you in the race. In the JPMC Jessamine G3<\/B> a field of six fillies will run a mile and a sixteenth over a good turf course for a purse of $150,000. It looks like one of the entrants is already BB bound, but a few others with good showings could solidify their spots as well. <\/P>

Drawing the rail is saver\u2019s <\/I>Biblicalproportion<\/B>, who tries winners for the first time. Biblicalproportion is a daughter of Awesome Again, out of God\u2019s Fury a daughter of Sadler\u2019s Wells. God\u2019s Fury as a racehorse was grade 1 placed, and a grade two winner. As a broodmare she has produced four horses of racing age, with all to win, including a graded winner and a stakes winner. In three starts Biblicalproportion has won once, and placed once, earning over $27k. She is however one for one on the turf, with a career best speed figure of 76. In her dirt races she tried to close from a few lengths off the pace, on the turf she wire the field by three lengths. Stepping up in class, skipping over allowances straight into stakes makes it hard talk about her chances. She clearly liked the switch to the turf and has won at a route, but has not faced winners yet. Biblical gets a freshening with not running since mid August which may help her, but if she\u2019s recovering from an injury this could be too much to handle. At 2\/1 she is the morning line favorite, but so far is not my favorite. She won\u2019t be the only one going to the lead, so she\u2019ll have to endure a speed duel or change her tactics. <\/P>

Breaking from the two hole is wistful3\u2019s <\/I>Invisibility Cloak<\/B>, who currently is the only one in the field with the proper earnings to get into the BB Juvenile Fillies Turf. Invisibility Cloak is a daughter of Invincible Spirit, out of Scimitarra, a daughter of Diesis. On the track Scimitarra was a grade 3 winner, with ten wins lifetime. As a broodmare she has produced three horses of racing age, the oldest two being graded winners, and Cloak is a stakes winner. In five starts Invisibility Cloak has two wins and three thirds, earning over $71k. She is currently ranked 11th<\/SUP> in turf routes, with a placing today she should solidify her spot in the BB Juvenile Filly Turf. Cloak comes into this race off of a routing stakes win, which was also over an off track. In that race she posted an 89 closing from well off the pace to win by a quarter length. She did use the dirt to turf trick to get a better performance, but then again that\u2019s only a theory, it doesn\u2019t always mean a greay effort. She has closed in all of her races, so I don\u2019t see that tactic changing today. At 5\/2 I only see the increase in distance as a positive. In my mind she\u2019s the one to beat. <\/P>

Going in the middle of the starting gate will be fab36\u2019s <\/I>Green Grass Hunter, <\/B>who is exactly that a grass runner. Green Grass Hunter is a daughter of Bluegrass Cat, out of Declaration a daughter of Jade Hunter. On the track Declaration was a multiple listed stakes winner. As a broodmare she has produced five horses of racing age, all of them winners, including a graded winner, and two stakes placed runners. Green Grass Hunter has raced four times winning and placed two times each, earning over $100k. She is currently ranked 74th<\/SUP> in turf routes, a win today may get her enough points to go to the BB. Green Grass has not won since May, but has placed twice since that last win. She is stakes placed at a sprint, and allowance placed at a route, with a 79 at a sprint being her best speed figure. Green Grass has a variety of running styles, on the lead which is how she won her last time, and placed in her last race. In her maiden win she was never more than a nose behind, and she has also tried to sit a little over a length off the pace, but was unable to close in on the winner. At 4\/1 it looks like being on the lead is her best style, but not being able to wire a field in an allowance mile, makes me wonder if she can handle a g3 going 8.5 furlongs.<\/P>

Drawing post four will be super26\u2019s <\/I>Not For Cats<\/B>, which this race is not, its for two year old fillies that are horses. Not For Cats is a daughter of Not For Love, out of Grooming The Cat, a daughter of Storm Cat. Grooming The Cat on the track only won once as a three year old. However, she has proven to be a much better broodmare, with eight horses of racing age, seven to win, one stakes winner and two stakes placed. Not For Cats has raced four times, won twice, and placed once, with earnings of over $50k. She is however two for two on the turf, and one for one going a route. Currently ranked 103rd<\/SUP> in turf routes, a win today may be enough to get into the BB. Since switching to the turf Cats is like a new horse, especially at a route, earning a speed figure that was 20 points higher than her maiden win, an 83. On the turf she\u2019s gone straight to the lead in both her starts, and I don\u2019t see that changing today. At 9\/2 as long as she can handle a little more distance, I think she\u2019ll out kick the other horses that go to the lead easily, its just the matter of holding off the closers.<\/P>

Picking up post five will be tripwire\u2019s <\/I>Beastly Kitten<\/B>, who in size is a beast compared to her competitors. Beastly Kitten is by Kitten\u2019s Joy out of Beast Lord, a daughter of Gone West. On the track Beat Lord was a listed stakes winner, and as a broodmare Beastly Kitten is her first foal. Beastly Kitten has run four times, winning three of those times, earning over $60k. She is currently ranked 95th<\/SUP> turf routes, with a win today she may have just enough stakes earnings to get to the BB. Beastly is an allowance winner, who in her stakes debut was unable to close fast enough for the win, finishing fourth. To her credit she broke her maiden on an off course, but speed figures are better on the firm going. In her route win she let the leaders get over five lengths away before closing in on a two and a half length victory, posting a career best of 80. Last time out she tried stakes, finishing fourth beaten three and a half lengths posting a disappointing 73. At 9\/2 she\u2019ll have to bounce back from the poor effort to be in contention today. She should have plenty of speed to run at, but she\u2019ll need a good closing kick.<\/P>

Drawing the outside rail is fats\u2019 <\/I>Tiz A Buda<\/B>, a centered maiden winner, trying winners for the first time. Tiz A Buda is daughter of Tiznow, out of Seeking Seattle, an offspring of Seeking The Gold. On the track Seeking Seattle only won once in twelve starts. Tiz a Buda has one win and a show in three starts earning over $13k. In Tiz\u2019s favor is she is one for one on the turf and routing, Her speed figures jumped from a 67 on the dirt, to a 75 on the turf, which is about average for the majority of this field. Last time out in her win she sat about two lengths off the pace and started closing around the third call to win by a half length in the end. Yet another maiden winner making it difficult to gauge how she\u2019ll perform against winners. At 6\/1 she\u2019s considered the long shot, but she has just as much shot in my mind as the other maiden winners do. <\/P>

A small field of six, mostly due to the short closing time on entries will allow for one of these lucky ladies to get a graded win that they may not have made it in for during a normal week. My choices are Invisibility Cloak, Not For Cats, and Biblicalproportion.
