And to that I say Merci beaucoup! A wonderful day is upon us and of course its upon these horses as well, they are racing for $500,000 in the G1 called Vermillion Stakes, it us run over 12 furlongs och the turf. You may know France for their wine and good food, but there is much more when it comes to this country, special when it comes to horse racing! Who can forget a classic sire as Blushing Groom, Lyphard and Riverman, no one! I guess most of you have heard of these very nice french horses, sure they were breed somewhere else maybe, but it still doesn’t take away their fame and glory they received in France! Thirteen horses are lined up and ready to race, who will go to Breeders Bowl?

1. THIS IS THE LIFE (13/1)(DYNAFORMER x EMPIRE MAKER x A.P. INDY):This 4yo mare is light raced with only 12 starts, she didn’t start racing until she was 3,5 and she did try the dirt track at first. Without any real success the trainer switched to turf instead and saw an instant improvement of her, she was winning her allowances and then continued to go to stakes level were she won directly, moved to graded stakes and finished second in her first, but last race she failed to be top-5 in a G1. I think she will have a better future, but in this race the future haven’t started yet. Top-5 is realistic and I would be impressed if she is first or second over the finish line.

2. ROCK HARD PORNSTAR (22/1)(ROCK HARD TEN x A.P. INDY x STORM CAT):This 4yo have raced 24 races, winning 5, another 5 place and 6 shows. She have mainly been racing in allowance and to be honest she had a hard time convincing in that class as well so I doubt she is ready for the Graded Stakes class, the best performance so far is probably a second or the third place in two stakes. She really needs to take the lead if she is going to make an impact on her end position. The trainer should be pleased if the horse end up in the top-5 positions.

3. HARD VICTORY (9/2)(HARADASUN x KINGMAMBO x STORM CAT):One of the two favorites to win this race according to the bookmaker, I have to say I disagree with her or him. I do believe this is a great race horse winning 9 of the possible 25 starts, but the first feeling I have is that this horse should not be racing in a 12 furlong race. She have made two starts at 12 furlongs before, winning one and the other one she finished fourth. She is coming to this race with two 11 furlong races with decent speed, but no winning speed. I think she should race around 9,5-10 furlong races to be able to be a lethal horse. In this race I think the trainer should be pleased if she ends up among the top-5.

4. HOPE OF KINGDOMS (16/1)(UNBRIDLED’S SONG x NORTHERN DANCER x SEATTLE SLEW):This very nice 3yo mare by Unbridled’s Song has made 12 starts in the career and she sure did start her career in a amazing way! She won her first 4 races until she entered the Breeders Bowl last year for 2yos, there she failed and I don’t know the reason for it, maybe the tempo was a bit to high at start for her to take the lengths she lost at start or if she was injured. Going on to 3yo she had some problems at the start, making one start and the second start it seems like she got injured or if she had a day off, she is coming to this race after four G1 starts in a row, one win and two second places, it will be interesting to see if she can go even one more step in the right direction, then she could win, but I think that the trainer would be pleased with a top-3 position.

5. GHOSTHORSE (9/1)(NORTH LIGHT x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x SADLER’S WELLS):One of the two six year old horses in the race and she had a decent career. She haven’t won a graded stakes so far and haven’t been really good in regular stakes either so in this race I think she won’t be able to produce more then a fifth place at most, I would be really surprised if the horse was top-3. She is performing some good speed though, but not good enough to be a winner at this level. All her four wins in the last 12 months is from the allowance class and I do believe that the trainer should keep her there, not since she is a bad horse, I just think that the race is on a level she is not able to compete at.

6. SMART MARI (14/1)(TAPIT x CAERLEON x DIESIS):This 3yo mare out of sire Tapit have had a tough start in her racing, she already made 20 starts so far. It took her 12 starts until her first win and I am a but surprised at the trainers tactic here, she made an incredible 11 starts as 2yo, could it be some kind of record in modern times of the sim racing? After the maiden win I would say that she started to show some potential and I would like to believe that this race is to short for her, I think she needs 2-4 more furlongs to be at her best. She is coming to this race in really good form, last two starts have been 102 and 106, the last result there was at 13 furlongs. She haven’t won stakes or graded stakes yet. The trainer should be pleased with a top-5 position and hopefully this mare will have a longer race next time.

7. STORMWALL (7/1)(STORMY ATLANTIC x STORM BIRD x LYPHARD):This 4yo out of Stormy Atlantic is a bit hard to get a grip of. She seems to be very uneven performing really good numbers as 113 one race and the next going a lot slower, I have my doubts about her running at 12 furlongs and would consider that she is at her best at 10 furlongs, she have made her best starts there according to me. In the career so far she have made 15 starts and won 5, she started of at dirt and after only decent results there she tried turf with instant success by winning her first 2 starts. She have won a stakes race and been in the top-3 for a few graded as well. I would consider this horse a candidate to be top-5, but as she is a bit uneven and not really know what distance she prefer she could win as well.

8. KETARING (13/1)(EL PRADO x FAPPIANO x KRIS S.):What an impressive start for this 3yo mare, in this race going up against older horses for the first time. Seems to like the conditions of this race of comparing to previous races, also seems to be able to run even longer as well. Have a G1 victory a few races ago and finished second in the G1 before that, so there is a lot of potential in this El Prado sired horse. I have this grey mare as my winner of this race, she have the least experience in number of starts compared to the rest of the horses, but she sure have the speed and she have shown she is a winner! Then only question mark would be if she is able to adapt to running with older horses. 9 starts and 5 wins is the record for her so far.

9. GAI (8/1)(CRYPTOCLEARANCE x SADLER’S WELLS x HABITAT):The other old lady in this race with 4 years of professional racing. She have 36 starts so far and won 6 of them, one of the starts was in the Vermillion Stakes last year and there she finished fourth so this is not a new race to her, even though this years field is new and she is the only one with experience from this race before. Will that help? I doubt it, it seems like this lady is on her last 1-2 years of racing even though she find some really good speed from time to time. Over the year she seems to be a bit uneven and maybe therefore she haven’t won that many races, but you should respect this horse anyway. The trainer should be pleased with a top-5 position, but if she have a good day she may as well win, but I doubt it.

10. FALDO (15/1)(FALBRAV x EL PRADO x THEATRICAL):One of the horses that would need a huge improvement to be able to be top-3. This 3yo have made 21 starts and only won 3 of them so far. I would consider that her speed could take her to a top-5 position, but since the field is pretty strong I doubt she would be able to make it, a few more allowance races with her as a winner would probably make more of the other trainers fear her in a race like this. The only win she have this season so far is a Local Bred allowance and even though Japan have good sires it doesn’t make any of the other trainers that scared. The trainer should be pleased with top-5 and a really lucky one if the horse is top-3.

11. IMTALKINJUNGLEDEEP (5/1)(DEEP IMPACT x A.P. INDY x FAPPIANO):Solid, solid, solid and solid. Thats how I summarize this 4yo Deep Impact sired mare. She have started 22 times in her career and won 13 of those, only one time have she been outside the top-5 positions in a race. The last 15 starts she have been running 100 or above in 13 of those starts. She is coming to this race with a fresh G1 win on T12 so she will be up for it and if not she is always in top-5, almost! I have her as my runner-up in this race, mainly due to her solidness and also that she is producing really good speed.

12. KANTIA (9/2)(ALKAASED x SHARPEN UP x RIVERMAN):This 5yo mare out if Alkaased have had a good career in terms of racing so far, 30 races and winning 13 of those. It seems like she have put her best racing behind her, for around a year ago she was really amazing in terms of speed and have had a dip in her form for a few months but have started to show some really good lifts in the form coming her with a G2 win. She seems to be able to run a bit longer then 12 furlongs and maybe that fit her better, but I have her as my third horse over the finish line.

13. GANCONAGH (17/1)(MONSUN x GALILEO x RAINBOW QUEST):This 3yo is also one of the horses with least races in this one, making 12 starts so far, but with a solid 5 wins in those. Seems like she like a bit more longer races and has so far improved her speed running 12 and longer, she have been running two races at 12 furlongs so far, winning both with more then 6 lengths. I think she will be up for a good challenge her, if she is able to put that last race speed into this race she will have a chance at winning, but I would say that top-5 is the realistic goal for her. She is my outsider of this race.

I think there are 3 blocks in this field, the first block is the 4-5 horse duelling for the win of this race, the second block is the horses that have been decent over the years and produce some solid numbers, I do believe that this block will have 1-2 horses in the top-5, but if that was to happened I think that 1-2 horses from the first block would have to have a really bad performance. The third block is the horses that will be really happy with a top-5 position they shouldn’t have anything to do with the top-3 at all since these horses have a hard time getting good results in allowances and regular stakes.

We could have a few of these horses in Breeders Bowl in November and the winner of this race would increase her chances a lot and some of the horses already seems to have enough points to make it, even though they don’t win this one. I guess that the winner will have around 110 in speed and to be able to make top-3 I would say that they need to perform a race around 105 or more. Good luck!

This will be the top 3 from my view and I also have my outsider for the race:
1. KETARING
2. IMTALKINJUNGLEDEEP
3. KANTIA
Outsider.
