The best trick is to use Rafi, as it allows you to search for the races your horse is qualified to enter. So, if you look at the week your horse is trained for and do not see a local breed race you want to enter, you can search the weeks around your target week for alternate races and then re-train accordingly.

Searching tips

Always try your preferred conditions first. For example, I might search for a maiden special weight going 8 on dirt for fillies. If this fails to find a suitable race one thing to consider is changing the sex conditions to all races the horse fits. It is not often done by many trainers but with local bred races, fillies are often at the same level as the boys and can win. I have a filly that I place in any allowance on dirt regardless of sex and age restrictions. This works especially well for 2 year olds but it can work well for older horses as well. The game cards more open races because of the small number of local breeds. This way those people with fillies don’t have to wait they can just run against the boys.

Another trick is looking for races against winners. I find that for the 3+ age group, it’s not such a big deal as there are lots of maiden special weights and allowances for them and often times a MSW is an easy spot. But for 2 year olds, there are so few races and horses run so long in between you may look and see no maiden races. However, by clicking the “vs. winners” box in rafi it will give you more options for races open to winners. Remember you’re likely not the only one doing this, there may be other maidens entered and you can even win.

Classes of LB Races

One thing people don’t know about and do not often ook for is LB starter races. I always forget this and I am betting it’s a good place to find a mid-level spot or even an easy race. They look to be small fields generally. There are no LB stakes races as of yet though that maybe implemented in the future. Other than that, there are the usual maiden claiming, maiden special weight, claiming, starter allowance, and allowance events carded. Most are fairly easy spots.

Remember to look ahead and plan. If you just say hey my horse needs 3 weeks rest then look that week chances are you won’t find anything. But if you check the surrounding weeks you may see 4 weeks out there is a race at the right distance and surface even if it’s against colts or older horses.

There are many ways to obtain local breeds. One place is the auction where someone never tried local bred racing and just dumped them for an inexpensive sales price. Compare the speeds to other local breeds from that area and then you know if it might be competitive. Claims are a good way to search out and find horses that are good in local breed races. Most owners have to lower in class when there is no local breed race.

That allows you to pick up a horse for a good price. Another trick is to look ahead and consider available race options when hunting for new horses: if there isn’t a race for that horse in the next few weeks claiming them may not make sense.

Check the YOSS Sim Tools site to see what races are not filling. When a race isn’t filling, you can know to keep an eye out for a local breed that can run at those conditions. Local breed racing is picking up popularity and people are finding out it’s a good place for that older horse that normally would be dropped to claims. They can keep him earning points until the time to retire.

A moderate to poor runner can earn you a lot of points in local breed claiming races. A good bargain breed who is just not up to the class of allowance races can win in LB allowances. Local breed racing adds another level to the game. It keeps more horses in use longer and gives a chance for newer players and those not wishing to spend a lot of credits a good way to earn points and have fun.

[4

post-8435","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general
["GET
