Montana<\/STRONG>–\u00a0\u00a0Shiny Gem(G2)<\/EM> hero Vindiana Jones<\/STRONG> brings his pacesetting\u00a0talent\u00a0to Montana this week in the $40,000 Roo Crowning Bonanza<\/EM>.\u00a0\u00a0 The sophomore not only faces older horses for the very first time,\u00a0but he also stretches out to the macho 12-furlong distance……..<\/FONT><\/DIV>
<\/FONT>\u00a0<\/DIV>
Vindiana Jones (9\/5) \u00a0came into his own over the late springtime.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0By Vindication, peeps6’s colt\u00a0was a possible upset starter versus the top sophomores in the 10f Princess Cup(G2).<\/EM>\u00a0\u00a0 The colt had blossomed into the listed ranks previously, but wound up finishing sixth in the big race.\u00a0 The effort didn’t keep the pacesetter down — he placed in a Grade 3 afterwards before springing quite a mousetrap in the Shiny Gem(G2).<\/EM>\u00a0 The colt won the 9f photo — he’s since tired a bit in the Winchester Derby(G2)<\/EM> over the same distance.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/FONT>Granted, Vindiana Jones hasn’t been past 10f — that Princess Cup came over an off track though, but he does display some appreciation for the sloppy surface.\u00a0 Hmmm…….\u00a0kind of a flip of the coin here then.\u00a0 He’s the class of the bunch, but he’s up against the distance.\u00a0 I think this is too much of a gamble.<\/FONT><\/DIV>

Instead, look elsewhere with one of the three accomplished 12f-type\u00a0runners:<\/FONT><\/DIV>
  • Layeguada’s Kursaal<\/STRONG> (7\/2) hasn’t won much (4 for 30 lifetime), but manages to stay quite consistent.\u00a0 The 4YO A.P. Indy colt closed well to earn some honest cheques recently in 13f+ marathon listed stakes.\u00a0 Could appreciate the cutback in distance — don’t know if he can run down this short field, but has a shot if he’s on target with a good afternoon gallop.\u00a0 Sleeper.\u00a0\u00a0<\/FONT><\/LI>
  • Ozzy sends out a 4YO filly who clearly enjoys this distance:\u00a0 Black Wood Nymph<\/STRONG> (4\/1).\u00a0 The Black Minnaloushe speedster wired a 12f field two back and just missed over 11f LTO.\u00a0 Has the SP#s to upset the boys.\u00a0 Unfortunately, she’s gonna face the tough sophomore pacesetter Seeking Pie, who appears\u00a0quite talented.\u00a0 Outside shot at the board.\u00a0 Tremendously useful filly though … not a lot of true female marathoners in the game.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/FONT><\/LI>
  • Here’s your winner:\u00a0 jefahl’s Seeking Pie<\/STRONG> (3\/1).\u00a0\u00a0 The sophomore colt by Seeking The Gold has loads of stamina in female family (Theatrical(IRE)).\u00a0\u00a0 And, boy, he sure needed the ground.\u00a0\u00a0 After faring so-so at a flat mile, his trainer got him some much needed distance\u00a0schooling in ALWs.\u00a0\u00a0 The result:\u00a0 victories at 10f (100 SP#) and 12f stakes score versus his age group (106 SP#<\/STRONG>).\u00a0\u00a0Excellent chance if he can overcome pace pressure from Black Wood Nymph.\u00a0\u00a0<\/FONT><\/LI><\/UL>
    The rest of the field:<\/FONT><\/DIV>
    • Turf specialist Myvan<\/STRONG> (6\/1) can stay 10f over his surface.\u00a0\u00a0 Wild spot for the Rainbow Quest 4YO — a lot to ask coming from his preferred surface.\u00a0 Not much of a chance.\u00a0 <\/FONT><\/LI>
    • Finally, blueangels sends out longshot Seascone <\/STRONG>(10\/1).\u00a0 The former starter ALWer enjoys the marathons, and, quite frankly, deserves a chance at the stakes ranks after exhausting his conditions.\u00a0\u00a0A board placing at best for this 4YO though with those\u00a0SP#s.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/FONT>\u00a0<\/LI><\/UL>
