The majority if the $250,000 purse goes to the winner and 7 horses will take to the gate to vie for the prize.

1. Leozig 5 year old horse (Galileo X Danzig X Nijinsky II) Trained by Peeps6 this horse has been running almost exclusively in graded competition. His last win came in the only stakes attempt where he posted a 110 speed going 6.5 on turf. He has managed a few seconds and a third recently but I am just not convinced this is his distance. He closes but always get out closes ending up 2nd by 1 ½ or 2. Or he cannot hit the board. His speeds are not bad, but other than that 110 stakes race he has not managed over a 106 in graded competition. Not too long ago he ran a 115 and won a graded sprint. So the talent is there. Perhaps, a break from racing 8 weeks off to bring back his fire, with only 31 starts he could run for a long time still.

2. Vision and Prayer 3 year old colt (Dylan Thomas X Seattle Slew X Northern Dancer) Trained by Stormboot also known as Dixidotco, this 3 year old will be taking on the big boys but given his last race it is a well deserved chance. The distance was 7.5 and I would have opted for a different distance. But either way very nice horse hope he can prove himself against the old horses. Given his last race, if he bombs this one a mile is definitely in order. He closed so well in his last start and the race before he won nicely going 6. So he does do well at the distance, question for this little man is can he get the speed at 6 furlongs. Tough position for a 3 year old but he is game.

3. High Side 5 year old horse (High Chapperal X Irish River X Kingmambo) Trained by Firfight, this guys two best races as of late came in two in a row 7 furlong wins including the G2 all the ages which he won by almost 2 lengths posting a 114 speed. His most recent race over this distance he finished 3rd with a 109. He appears to like just a bit longer of races as his last race he covered 6.5 and finished only ½ a length from the winner. This race might just be too short for him. But given his speed his 5/2 odds making him the favorite are well deserved.

4. Dancebymoonlight 5 year old horse (Moon Ballad X Green Desert X Cozzene) Trained by Supapoqa6, after three allowances wins in a row this colt jumped in class, and ran 4th in a G3 race. His last 5 races have been over 6 furlongs and the consistency is only making him stronger. His last two races he ran 2nd and won a stakes race. The 2nd he was so close ½ a length and posted a 112 speed. With that number and the finish I say this jump back to graded competition is well earned and I think he can get the job done. His 7/2 odds says he can as well.

5. Seven String 6 year old horse (Saratoga Six X Northern Dancer X Roman) Trained by Axeracing0, this New Mexico bred is out of place in this race but very welcome. Not many from his state make it to graded competition. At 6/1 odds he is a warm choice but he has been well placed in his last few starts. In his last 7 races all of those on firm turf he has hit the board, with 3 stakes wins and two thirds in graded races. His top speed of 107 will have to be beaten if he wants to hit the board here, I think. There are some speedy horses and as consistent as he is I bet he puts in a game effort. Will he get there, only the racing gods know.

6. Road Not Taken 5 year old horse (Storm Cat X Machavellian X Deputy Minister) Trained by Focusforce, Road Not Taken is a nice little sprinter. Won his last two races going 5 furlongs in stakes races. His graded attempts were not very successful but he had a nice break beginning of the year and his last two wins he has increased his speeds. If he can continue to do this he could hit the board. As to the distance, he placed 2nd in a 6 furlong stakes race and ran a 102 speed. It was a very small field but hopefully that is a sign he liked the distance and will run well here today.

7. Thor’s Odyssey 4 year old colt (Unbridled’s Song X Mr. Prospector X A.P. Indy) Trained by Aaafarms, this 4/1 betting choice is regally bred. He has been making some nice paychecks in 5 furlong graded races. However, given that this is a 6 furlong race I would like to point out the race before those. He ran in some stakes races placed and won with some nice speeds. The 115 is very impressive. Then his tackled tough competition in the G1 Sand Castle Turf Sprint. He finished 2nd with a 109 speed. I think he like 6 furlongs better than 5 and given the competition in the race I like this horse!

My picks. Dancebymoonlight, Thor’s Odyssey (very easily could also win), High Side.

[2

post-8357","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
