Horses are firming up their positions for the upcoming Breeders\u2019 Bowl Mile and this weekend\u2019s event is one of their last opportunities.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Some of the best have shown up for their final tune-ups and it should be quite a ride.<\/P>

Fusaichi Magpie<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Punter59<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>6\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>With only 12 starts under his belt, this upstart is proving to be a runner of substance.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His last two wins have been a second and a first in graded company and he is moving quickly into the top tier of milers.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Never off the board in a turf race or a route, this stalker should figure prominently in the race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/P>

PJ Long and Windy<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Flyingfinn<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>13\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Son of Peintre Celebre has been solid in overnight stakes, but has been off the board when he steps it up to graded company.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019d expect more of the same \u2013 a respectable run, but no winners\u2019 circle for this guy.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

Top Jimmy<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Sdmf2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/I>9\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>A really nice colt who looks like he\u2019s making up his mind between the Turf and the Mile.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This race will be a terrific test for him.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s run beautifully at 9-11 furlongs, but this will be his first graded attempt at a flat mile.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Success in an overnight stakes at this distance looked promising, now we\u2019ll see what happens when he take on the big boys and girls at a mile.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>If he does well, he can try for BB glory without trying the Turf, arguably the toughest race of the year.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Smart placement by the trainer this week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Comes from outlandishly far back; if he runs well he\u2019ll be lots of fun to see.<\/P>

Peintre Indyman<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Milnerton<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>19\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>A horse who shows that they can really surprise you sometime.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has bombed in every graded race he has run\u2026.except for the Grade I he won last year with a 121 fig.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I don\u2019t see any reason to believe he\u2019s going to repeat that brilliant performance this week given his recent races, but he\u2019s walking proof that longshot can run a surprisingly big race sometimes.<\/P>

Red Theatre<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Phillipj<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>16\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Solid 4th<\/SUP> in the recent Maudlin Cup, but has otherwise looked like more of an allowance horse.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I think\u00a0 <\/SPAN>he\u2019s in a little too deep with this crowd.<\/P>

Tough call here with several horses quite capable of winning, but I see Xtremely a Fan<\/B> coming from out of the clouds to take the lead in the race and keep the lead in the division.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Without a ton of speed in the race, I expect Congo<\/B><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> <\/B>to take the lead an hang on for a piece (maybe even steal the race?).\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>No real daring picks this week, I expect the classy Jolie\u2019s Song<\/B> to benefit from her very good jock and hang on for third against some other very nice competition.<\/o:p><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
