Hello and welcome to the main event of the year, The Showstopper.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This race consists of some of the best classic milers in the claiming community.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>A full field has entered again and you\u2019ll see a few horses that are just home at higher levels as well as start allowance with a few prior stake winners thrown in there.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The race really consists of two strong runners who seem to be a step above the rest, Call Me Rowdy <\/B>and Goldbricker<\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Both horses have two distinct running styles.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Call Me Rowdy <\/B>will more than likely go straight to the lead while Goldbricker <\/B>will be satisfied to sit back behind the main group and make a late charge.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>There are huge group rated slightly behind those two who will look pull the upset led by Aza Major <\/B>and Perfect Trip<\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Any combination should make for a nice trifecta payout.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

El Paso Connection <\/SPAN><\/B>was a much heralded three year colt a couple years ago.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This 5 year old Macho Uno horse was well bred and won the G2-Heat Less Stake as a three year old.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He continued to fare decent the remainder of the year in listed stakes and allowance races but it\u2019s been a while since he\u2019s competed at a top level.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Ran mainly as a sprinter lately, you have to go all the way back to September 2008 to find his last win at two turns.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hard choice here but makes a drop in class from allowance company to try to make a go at it.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Could surprise many. <\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

Goldbricker <\/SPAN><\/B>makes his first start under new connection, Maverick Racing Stables<\/I>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I saw this colt a couple a weeks ago and liked the breeding but the four year Touch Gold cold was having difficulties at the allowance level.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He makes a nice drop in class here and should run well.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>As our number two pick at 6\/1 he would make for a good payoff.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He will likely let Call Me Rowdy <\/B>lead the pack while he drops way pack of the field for strong stretch close.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Pace make the race here.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

Wow!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>What a difference a trainer makes.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hats off to the Starpukie Stables<\/I> for having a great eye when this colt was nabbed in February.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Up to that point, Call Me Rowdy <\/B>was 1 for his first 36 and not showing much of anything.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He was quickly claimed for $5k and he\u2019s been on a run ever since with wins in five of his last six starts including two Allowance wins.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He makes for a strong morning line favorite.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Look for him to break quickly out of the gate and try to take the field the whole way.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

A solid performer, Norverre Brush <\/B>is what you most trainers would be looking for in a claiming horse.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This Norverre sired horse is making his debut for the Kiddman Stables<\/I>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s coming off a second place finish in a $15k claimer and has been racing consistently in the mid to high 90\u2019s.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He does have the occasional burst of triple digit speed ratings but they\u2019re too erratic to count on.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He will be looking to steal a minor piece of the purse.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

You have to go 53 races back to find the last time Cat Hawk <\/B>made a legitimate start on the dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In fact, that was his first start as a two year old.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>However, he had a great career on the grass but it wasn\u2019t until his last start was forced to the main track when the turf was just too sloppy to run on.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He won that race with ease but did the off track help?\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Flip a coin here. <\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

No doubt that Nice Reed\u2019s <\/B>connections will be looking for a repeat of his last race where he posted a lifetime high SP of 106.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He got a late start in his career as this nine year old colt only has 18 races under his belt and only started about 2 \u00bd years ago.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He makes his first start at two turns today though so there\u2019s a bit of an unknown factor here.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He does make a late charge which sometimes leaves him short but we\u2019ll have to see.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

Good news here is that Quick Distpatcher <\/B>is not the long shot in the race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>However, it still may not be enough.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Not really a bad horse as he \u00a0<\/SPAN>has some decent races and he seems at home at just about any distance.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>But there\u2019s no comparison to the favorites.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Should run well here but probably mid pack at best.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

The 9\/1 The Perfect Trip<\/B> makes a much needed drop in class for this race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Claimed back in March, he\u2019s been ran exclusively in allowance company his last six races with one win.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He can reach those triple digit SP figures but he\u2019s had difficulties lately.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His last two races have been well off the board and with SP\u2019s of 95 and 85.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>However, he may bounce back with drop in class.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Could be a sleeper pick here.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

Unnamed Ted <\/SPAN><\/B>is what you consider a true work horse.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This seven year old has gone to the track an amazing 73 times with 6 wins in that span.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He hasn\u2019t run bad in last 10 starts but somehow seems to find himself on the losing end every time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In fact, you have to go back to January of 2009 to find his last win.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>At one time a couple of years ago he was a consistent starter with speed of 100+ but just not enough lately.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s much like our group of 10\/1 choices.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Could compete for show money if he can grab a little of the past.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>
