In this instance here today, I think that many trainers that may have snuck a peek into this graded race may have made a wise decision. It’s still relatively early in the juvenile season, so is it worth a possible 6 week layoff and a 4th place finish which gets you no graded points? The 3 representatives here today are the future of this early division. What this race lacks in size, it surely makes up for with talent. It would be no surprise to me to see these 3 horses make their way to the juvenile turf in October, if they can get a bit more ground when the 8f races come about. But, make no mistake about this one here; there is some young talent to showcase their ability. These are 3 well matched horses who will look to do battle and score some young graded points in there efforts. This race sets up to be a dandy and this is going be one heck of a 3 horse showdown. I compliment the collective players in the Sim that let this one unfold as is, because that’s how good these horses appear to be. As evidenced by the closeness of their odds, the winner will come down to who plays the pace card correctly and who may be better at this point in their career. Let’s get to this doozy of a race, starting from the rail out.

1) Incal- Trained by Supers Stables- Del Penn National Residency- Incal, a beautifully bred son of Giant’s Causeway (48%), comes here today after breaking his maiden at the returning track of Ireland. In his 1st attempt, Incal faced 6 others and went off at almost 5-1 at 5 ½ f. He broke in 2nd, took control at the quarter pole and just couldn’t hold off the charge of Aninspiration. Supers decided to return to the same track 7 weeks later and entered him at 6f. With a race under his belt, Incal sat 2nd again, but his learning curve kicked in as he drew away in the stretch to win by 1 ½ lengths. His defeat of 8 others earned him a 78 speed number, which topped his 1st effort by 8 points. Incal is by a D ranked “mare, whom he himself had 2 stakes wins at the tender age of 2. So we have a young horse whose lines dictate that he can win early and a sire who has one of the best % in young stakes horses. His early athleticism will serve him well here today to mix it up with the other 2 in here today. He doesn’t supply the speed numbers of the other 2 in here yet, but sometimes that’s only a test away. Capable of going forward in this race and threat to top 2 today. 9/5 and gets Clevenger for the mount.

2) Vallieres- The Conglomerate Computer Stable- A well bred 2 yr old colt by Alymaine (?) looks to dethrone the top 3 in here today. No starts, no wins; not today, not never, not dirt, not maiden locals, not against 3 maiden computer horses. Go ahead Roys, deduct 50 from the top!! Question for this guy is the over and under of lengths behind today. Let’s be fair and set the line at 14 for this sprint race. Any takers? Oh, and btw, he’s 99-1..Next……………

3) Distinguished Ted- Trainer Puddinpuss- Worldwide Racing Residency-

The class tested horse of this bunch so far, the # 15 ranked colt is here today to move further up that juvenile rank. He is the experienced horse in the field with having had 4 starts already. He started his career in a MSW in Japan where he faced 9 others. Going off at 10-1, Distinguished Ted would break from the outside gate. He timed the bell call perfectly and broke on top. He stayed that way until the wire, pretty much untested throughout. His final victory margin was 1 at the line and he earned a great 70 speed number for a February race. He would resurface 5 weeks later in the Manatee Stakes where he faced a full field of 13 others. Going 7f this time, Distinguished Ted found a few more fleet footed types in this race. He still broke forwardly in 4th, but he picked up late and missed by a closing 1 ½ lengths, finishing 4th. Another 5 weeks rest and he would ship to Queensland for the Brad Ottens Challenge. In what may appear on the surface to be a relatively harmless stakes race, it would turn out to be anything but. Distinguished Ted broke 4th in the full field, then moved to 3rd and when they hit the stretch, Ted was in full flight. As they roared down the straightaway, Ted took control late and went onto a decisive victory by a full 1 ½. His speed number was a juvenile season high of 85. The list of the horses he defeated in that race was impressive. (4 stakes placed horses, 1 Graded winner, 4 graded placed and 2 stakes winners) Always a good sign of a juvenile when the horses he already beat come back to win in stakes or graded. In that race he defeated the current #2 ranked horse in Atomic storm who came back to win a Gr2 last time out. His most recent start would be in the Gr3 Railway at a tad shorter 6f. Racing against 6 others, Distinguished Ted would finally get a little more respect at the windows and would go off at 5-1 in the 8 horse field. He would break 3rd, make a late move to 2nd and just couldn’t catch the winner in undefeated Gone For Gimlets. Some real good positives for this guy here today. I believe that he will sit 2nd with Oranienbaum down the backside. He will make his move with 2f to go, but must make sure he gets the jump on the other in the similar position. 5th race today for him, with back to back graded, but deserves the respect of slight favoritism today. Even money and leading jock Loesch in the irons.

4) Oranienbaum- Tazdevil Stables- Universal Racing Club- The Taz man comes here today with a son of Stravinsky. He has had 3 starts to his career and was victorious in all 3 of them. He started his career off in 14 horse Msw race in Sweden on the dirt. Going of at 14-1 Oranienbaum would stalk the pace a length off and make his move at the top of the stretch. He would widen his margin through the stretch and win by 1 ½ lengths. Taz would ship the young guy across the pond to run him in a small stakes in Oregon. Facing 5 others, he would break 2nd and stay that way until the stretch drive. Jock Hawkins tapped the big boy on his flank, and Oranienbaum would respond immediately and drew off to a 2 length victory. His speed number of 78 was 12 points higher than his maiden. So I guess Taz was thinking what to do next. His breeding screams turf, and if he’s that good on dirt, maybe he could actually be better on turf. So Taz decided to give Oranienbaum a shot in the $100,000 Goats That Faint Juvenile. Facing 7 others, Oranienbaum would relax early and do his usual tactics of laying right off the pace. Jockey Knott would ask the boy for some run again inside the 3f marker, and Oranienbaum, as he did on dirt, would respond to the jock cues and draw off again by a length victory. His speed number of 84 was impressive and confirmed the trainer’s decision in a go on the lawn. For today’s race, he gets a great litmus test in here. He will be facing a young seasoned veteran if there is such a thing. He and Distinguished have similar running styles and I believe if he beats Distinguished Ted to the punch at the 2f marker, he can win. A very versatile horse on both surfaces and appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

Man this is a great 3 horse race to watch. It’s that exciting time of year where trainers aren’t actually sure of what quality they have got yet. They feel very optimistic, but these races determine future starts. In terms of pace, I don’t think that the 3 horses will be separated by more than 3 lengths throughout the first 4f of the race. I am guessing the winning speed number will be 82 or so, and that’s only a slight because of the size of the field. A bright future awaits at least one in here, but probably all 3 of them. Here’s my stab at 4:

1) Distinguished Ted- Give the nod to him here based on experience and track record. He will sit patiently in 2nd throughout and make a determined run late. I feel he must get the first jump in on……

2) Oranienbaum- Will get another litmus test here today to see if can again respond to his great turf debut. Comes in undefeated and very well may leave the same way. Should be a great tactical pace battle between the top 2. If he gets the job done, Taz will add another turf horse to his already ranked Atomic Storm.

3) Incal- Great spot here today for this guy as he will be sked to pick up his speed numbers today to get ontop or in between top 2. With that said, he could totally pop a bigger number and show his trainer that he is in fact ready for this company. Either way he will get questions answered for his connections, and not totally incapable of springing the mild upset.

4) The lock spot here today as the comp horse will fadeeeee awayyyyyyy early and be off the screen!! (another 50 Roys!!)

Best of luck to all here today as we have some fine representatives of this early graded turf season. !!!!

[2

post-8254","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
