Today\u2019s race features 3 year old horses running a mile and three sixteenths over a firm turf track for a shot at the winners share of the $250,000 purse. VULCANIC(AUS)<\/b> from the Slowhand stable will be racing from the inside rail. This Encosta De Lago colt will be going off at 6\/1. He is coming off a 6th place performance in the 12 furlong Grade I Adelaide Derby that I covered last month. This horse has twice won at the Grade III level and finished 2nd in an allowance last time he ran this distance. This horse is a deep closer who has won from as far back as 15 \u00bd lengths. <\/p>\n
COLAC NINER(KY)<\/b> from the tracie71 stable will be coming from the #2 post position. The son of Curlin has morning line odds of 6\/1 for today\u2019s race. He is coming off a 3rd place finish in a 6 furlong stakes race two weeks ago. This is only the third turf start for this colt that is looking for his first victory on this surface. This is the longest race of his career by a half a furlong and the longest on this surface by 3.5 furlongs. This horse would be considered a moderate closer to stalker, having won from 5 lengths back on dirt and having gained 7 furlongs on the leader last time out. <\/p>\n
LONG GONE G(KY)<\/b> from the dgdg stable will be racing out of the #3 spot. This 3 year old son of Gone West is coming in with odds of 9\/2. This colt is coming off a 2nd place finish in the 9 furlong Grade II Edward\u2019s Kingdom. He is looking for his first stakes victory of his career and finished 2nd in an allowance the last time that he ran this distance. This is another deep closer who has came from as far back as 11 \u00be lengths for the win. <\/p>\n
CAN’T SLOW DOWN(ENG)<\/b> out of the Desperado5 stable is coming out of the 4 hole. This is a son of Pivotal that is coming into this race with 7\/1 odds. I covered this colt the last time he raced when he finished a game 2nd in the Grade I Jockey club at 10.5 furlongs back in May. This horse is looking for his first stakes victory and won an allowance the only time that he ran this distance. This horse would be considered a closer, who has won from 8 \u00be lengths back previously in his career. <\/p>\n
DERHAMM(KY)<\/b> from the 2aussie is the morning line favorite out of the #5 spot at 7\/2. This son of Street Sense is coming off a 3rd place performance in the 10 furlong Grade I Queen\u2019s Dish last month. This colt has already won a race at the Grade III level and is looking to best that today. This horse has never raced at this distance but has raced both a half furlong shorter and longer before. This horse would be considered a short closer to stalker who has won at 8 \u00be lengths back before. <\/p>\n
LAST WORDS(KY)<\/b> from the cnn stable will be racing out of the #6 slot. This Political Force colt is the long shot of the race at 28\/1. He is coming off of a 5th place performance in an open allowance at 8 furlongs last month. He will be looking for his first stakes victory and ran 3rd in an allowance the only other time that he ran this distance. This horse likes to run up front and will be hoping to have enough speed to get the early lead.<\/p>\n
CROSSED FORM(ENG)<\/b> out of the jmahls stable is the #7 horse in todays race. This Dubawi colt is going off with a morning line of 8\/1. This colt is coming fresh off a victory in a 10.5 furlong Stakes race last month. This colt finished 4th in each of the previous two times that he raced at this exact distance, both at the allowance level. He will be trying to get in the money for the first time at the Graded level today. This horse can either stalk or close, as he has won at both types of races. <\/p>\n
MISTY MORNING(IRE)<\/b> from the lopickles2 stable will be heading out of the #8 post position. This 3 year old son of Montjeu will be going off at 5\/1 today. He is coming off a loss by a nose in the Grade II St. James Tavern last time out. This will be the longest race of this horse\u2019s career, with a previous long of 8.5 furlongs. This colt likes to race at the front of the pack, but not necessarily up front, though he has won from slightly off the pace to front running.<\/p>\n
KING FOR A YEAR(KY)<\/b> from hilofarms is racing from the outside position. This North Light colt is going off with morning line odds of 6\/1. He is coming off a 4th place finish in the Grade III World Weekly News 2000 at 10 furlongs last time out. He has raced at this distance once before, finishing 6th in stakes competition. He has won at the Grade III level and is looking for his biggest career victory here today. This horse is a stalker who likes to get to around 6-7 lengths back before trying to win. <\/p>\n
