This is the 2nd running of this Grade I and this race features two horses that are ranked in the top 20 in the world in this class. It is another beautiful day in the normally gray Berkshire area and we have a firm course lined up for today’s race. We will waste no more time and get straight to the runners.

From the inside rail we have the veteran 6 year old son of Wando, CHOP EM DANE from the meguire6 stable and Meguire stables representing the Blazing Saddles residency. This horse is looking for his first stakes victory today. He will have to turn around in form however, as he has not won a race in the last 12 months. He is coming off a 3rd place finish in a $900,000 value allowance last time out. This horse did finish 2nd in a Grade I at the end of last season. This is a nice horse capable of putting speed figures up into the 100’s, but I think he may be outclassed in this field. The morning line is 8/1.

At the #2 Post we have STORM KID representing the zabeel stable, Goldsmith group, and the Comedy Central residency. This 4 year old son of Storm Cat is the 19th ranked horse in the world in this class. This horse is a 10 furlong specialist and won in the Equinics earlier this year at this distance. He is hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 5th in the Kinsho Cho Classic last time out. This horse does like to be right around the lead when races start so I would expect a quick dart to the front. This horse is going off as the 3/1 favorite in today’s race.

CLUB FORTUNE from the stupor2 stable of the Evil Empire group will be representing GR Simsters today. This 5 year old son of Mineshaft is coming off a 2nd place finish in the Kinsho Cho Classic. This colt has put up some great speeds this year but hasn’t won since last June, which is also the last time he did not break a 100 speed figure. I would not expect CLUB FORTUNE to race out to a big lead, but it could be the leader heading out of the break. He likes to take the lead to possibly be right behind the leader as his comfort zone. The current odds are 7/2 according to the morning line.

Out of the #4 post will be the 4 year old son of A.P. Indy OOPSY DAISY from the Opus stable and Moose Hollow Farm. This colt can be described as a stalker. He will follow the lead and is at his most dangerous when he is between 6 and 7 lengths back from the leader. His last race was a 4th place finish in the Texas Turf Cup. The morning line is 7/2 for this colt.

UNGROOMED from the nofear stable and WillyAM13 group will be representing GR Simsters. This is a 5 year old Galileo horse that is looking for his first stakes victory and his first victory of any kind since 2008. This horse does not like to have the lead, preferring to come from a ways back before heading to the front. He will be looking to turn around his form in a big way today. The line has this horse at 6/1 on the morning line.

The 6 post contains PLAY STATION THREE from the Shamran8 stable from the Shamran group representing EAAA Racing. This 4 year old Monsun colt is coming off a 2nd place finish in the Grade I Prince of Whales that I covered last month. This is a Graded stakes winner that is looking for his first victory of the 2010 season. This colt likes to move to 7-8 lengths back before coming up from behind. The morning line of 4/1 on this horse looks like a good bet.

Finally coming from the outside we have the 6/1 5 year old Pivotal Horse, SPARTIATE from the Wicked stable and Tremendous Machines group, and yet another horse representing GR Simsters. This horse has put up some monster speed figures in the past and seems to run best from middle to the back of the pack. He will also be looking for his first victory of the 2010 season and today’s race may be ripe for the picking.

This race features a lot of horses that are looking for their first victories in some time. In the end, I feel that PLAY STATION THREE will be too fast for the competition followed by OOPSY DAISY and CLUB FORTUNE. There is not a lot of front line speed and not any real deep closers in this race so I would expect a close pack for the first half of the race, with CLUB FORTUNE or STORM KID leading out of the break before those two take off. The lack of any other real front threat could also bear fruit for the Evil Empire’s horse.

Good luck to all of the connections!

[2

post-8206","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
