Czech derbys know their champions. Just in a few words about the real one. The winner of the Czech derby trial (Big June Prize) Talgado<\/font><\/a> defeated in an easy style all the others 15 horses in the race. Three years old chestnut performed a striking finish, which no one else could accept. Ulan<\/font><\/a> was runner-up and Miracle Match<\/font><\/a>, with the doubts of his distance abilities finished 3rd. You can see the introduction of all participants and of course the whole race in this video<\/font><\/a>. Talgado did a great job, breaking the time record of the race (2:28.46) and the track record over 2400m as well. Another remarkable thing was the jockey of this horse. Talgado was ridden by the 16-years old daughter of the horse’s Slovakian owners, currently riding in Panama. She<\/font><\/a> was not the only the youngest winner of the derby, but the youngest participant of our derby as well. Amazing race and amazing day at Prague’s racecourse…<\/font><\/p>\n

But you are interested in what happened in the simulated derby. Due to smaller amount of six horses, the race wasn’t as dramatic as the races with big fields are. Flyaway Zeppelin from my stables set the pace, exactly as I didn’t want to. In the last quarter of the race, Dynaformer’s son Dynamic Destiny<\/font><\/a> took the leading position from him and the only graded winner in the field could just keep the 1st place, winning with ease by 2 3\/4 lengths. Flyaway Zeppelin<\/font><\/a> didn’t lose so much ground to Dynamic Destiny and finished second, not threatened by anybody else. Another Dynaformer’s son Columbia Valley<\/font><\/a> took 3rd position and it now seems he would be better over 10F or something similar. Anyway, it was his first graded podium. Can U Feel It<\/font><\/a> showed improvement in last furlongs and finished 4th, he probably likes the distance, but needs more allowance or stakes experience to success on this level. Watch him anyway, this horse definitely hasn’t said his last words. The biggest disappointment of the day was the performance of Corin<\/font><\/a>. His strong finish in the last part of the race just didn’t come. Hard to say, what happened. May be slight fatigue from the previous graded races, may be he wasn’t sharp for that race. Topicount could know more about it. Anyway, I believe once he gets fit, he will be strong again. Rahydehere<\/font><\/a> closed the field without any progress. Seems that this was simply very long for the brown Rahy’s colt and going back to the middle distance races is the probable step.

Another derby is gone. I am very pleased with the growing quality of the field and now it’s Dynamic Destiny who is holding the speed record of the simulated Czech Derby – 2:31.2. Next year it could be broken again…it’s still lot of time, but keep an eye on your 2yos, may be one of them grows to the next derby winner. It is up to you.
