The two favorites are No Price Too High and Eyes Of Fire at 4-1. Let’s get to the race!

PP #1 L Bundy-Deep Impact x Smart Strike x Rainbow Quest, 5-1 with B F Abman up (22.9%)
Stable: Marusha Stables (NA)
This Deep Impact 5yo has been going a mile in his last four races. He has only raced one time at 10f, resulting in a 3rd place finish, but this took place 2 years ago, when he was only 3. In his last race, 14 days ago in the G1 Cobbler Mile 8f on the firm turf course, he sat right off the pace in 4th, only a few lengths behind the leader. He moved into 3rd going around the turn, but couldn’t catch the winner late, and got nipped by a nose at the wire for 2nd. He finished 3rd beaten 2 lengths, earning a 110 speed figure. He should be up close early, and if he brings his mile form to 10f, he has a chance.

PP #2 Gotta Go Go-Symboli Kris S x Majestic Light x Northern Prospect, 9-2 with N Painter up (10.6%)
Stable: Goonergeez Stables (Hong Kong Racing Club)
Another miler here, trying to go longer. Two back he won the G2 Bourbon Mile, going gate to wire. He won by 2 lengths, earning a 112 speed figure in 1:34. Last out in the Little Nijinsky at 8.5f, he opened up a 9 length lead at Call 2. Opening up such a big lead early, he started to tire in the lane, the closers came at him hard, but he managed to hold on by ¼ of a length. He earned a 110 speed figure. This horse has won 3 of 9 at 10f, but has never won a stake at today’s distance. Should be winging up front early, and as the inside horse, he has a chance if he brings his mile to 10f.

PP #3 Pretoreus-Elusive Quality x Danehill x Lyphard, 5-1 with A Rolling up (24.1%)
Stable: NewOwners Racing Stables (EAAA Racing)
This Elusive Quality 4yo colt really showed his stuff last October on this turf course, wining the G2 Usain Bolt by 2 ½ lengths with a sparkling 115 speed figure. Last out, 21 days ago, he ran in the G2 Confederate at 9f on a good turf course. He tried to go gate to wire, when he opened up a 3 ½ length lead coming around the turn, but couldn’t hold in the late stages, finishing 2nd beaten only ½ a length. He earned a 108 speed figure. This colt is 2 for 3 at 10f, with his only beat coming in a G1, when he finished a respectable 4th. Looks to be sitting right off the pace, and is going to be tough here.

PP #4 No Price Too High-Smart Strike x Awesome Again x Rahy, 4-1 with D Givins up (21.6%)
Stable: Desperado Stables (Blazing Saddles)
Blueblood Smart Strike colt is ranked 6th in the division. Last out in the G1 Manha Manha at 10f on a firm turf course, he raced against ALL graded winners. He sat right off a hot pace early in 2nd. He took a 2 length lead going around the turn, but got outdueled late to finish 2nd, beaten only ¾ of a length. His last 9 of 10 races have been at today’s distance of 10f. He has only been off the board twice out of 16 starts, one coming on dirt, and the other coming in a G1 at 8.5f on turf. Another that should be up close early, the class, the pick.

PP #5 El Otto-Malibu Moon x El Gran Senor x Carson City, 11-1 with S Israel up (10.0%)
Stable: Otto Haack (Venezuela) (Hispano Parlante)
Longest shot in the field here, this Malibu Moon 4yo colt comes into this one after impressively winning a listed race (The Milk W. Memorial). He was far back in last, during the early stages. He was still in last going around the far turn, but was only 4 down. He blew by all of his rivals late, to win by 2 ½ lengths, earning a career best 108 speed figure. He is a long shot, but he is 3 for 4 at the distance. Will be far back early, and even though he could be improving, he still needs to step it up.

PP #6 The Longest Yard-Manila x Grey Dawn II x Vaguely Noble, 7-1 with J Caves up (20.5%)
Stable: Otistaylor Stable Group (Blazing Saddles)
This Turkish bred son of Manila has won only 2 out of his last 10 starts. Last out, he ran in the 750,000 Galaga Dash at 10f on a firm turf course. He was in last early, and was almost 14 lengths behind at call 2. He passed tired rivals late, to manage 4th beaten 9 ¼. Out of 6 tries, he has never won at this race’s distance of 10 furlongs. But has finished well, only beaten ½ a length in a G1, ¼ of a length in a G3, and 2 ¾ in a G2. Probably will be in last early, and could come late, but I don’t think he’s good enough to win.

PP #7 Eyes Of Fire-King Cugat x Irish River x Cozzene, 4-1 with F Gossett up (20.9%)
Stable: 20two Stables (Ireland)
Oldest of the field, at 6 years of age. I don’t know why he is the co-favorite as he has never won past 9f, and never run past 9.5 furlongs. Last out in the Kit Kat Ranch at 9 furlongs on a firm course, he broke well and went head to head up front early. He took a slim lead going down the backstretch, and opened up by 2 ¼ going around the turn. He held off a late challenge, to win by ½ a length with a 111 speed figure. At 9.5f (his longest distance to date) he has raced 3 times, all resulting in third place finishes, all were listed stakes. Comes in off a big race, but is a play against in my opinion.

PP #8 Birdman-Dynaformer x Rock Of Gibraltar x Kingmambo, 5-1 G Smith up (8.7%)
Stable: Kingdamo Stables (Queensland Racecourse)
Least amount of races in the field for this 4yo Dynaformer colt, who’s he-mare earned more than $800,000.This colt tried graded company for the first time last out in the G2 Marcy’s Fort at 8.5f on a firm turf course. He was only a couple lengths back early, but was in mid pack. He made a move going around the turn, moving into 3rd. He fought hard, but couldn’t keep stride with the winner late, finishing 3rd beaten 1 ¼, he almost got up for 2nd, but was beaten ¼ of a length for the 2nd spot. He should be in mid pack early, and has a lot of potential.

Morning Line: 4-7-2-1-3-8
Gowans: 4-3-8-1-6

Good luck to all connections!

[2

post-8139","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
