Welcome to Deauville which is to the north west of Paris. The feature race today is the Grade1 The French Diana run over a mile and five sixtenths on the Firm Turf Course for 3 year old Fillies.

These 9 beautiful Fillies are heading around to post so lets take a look at the field before they move into the gates.

1. Duchess of Skunk – 11- 4-2-2

Second favourite from who comes into this in career best form. Last time out in the Grade1 The 1000 Guineas she got back worse than midfield before running home well to finish 5th. At her previous start in the Grade3 Irish 1000 Guineas Trial she again settled back in the field before unleashing a powerful finishing burst to win running away posting a 103SP. The extra distance will suit and if there is speed on up front she will be charging home.

2. Distractivation – 6- 4-1-0

A lovely young filly who has made her way through the allowance grades to find herself with a live chance here today. I would assess her chances on her 2nd last run where over 8.5 furlongs she settled 2nd last in the run and let go with a great late dash to swoop home and grab the prize right on the wire. She doesn’t have to improve far off that run to be competitive here.

3. Star Flyer – 12- 5-2-4

This little girl is one runner in the race who will head forward from a good gate. Her last 2 starts have been over this distance for a win and a 3rd. Last start she went straight to the front and gave nothing else a chance racing out with a nice lead and then holding that margin in the straight to win in a 83SP. If she gets a soft lead in front she will take a power of catching.

4. Buda At The Dance – 13- 8-1-0

Our race favourite @ 5/2 and comes into this race on the back of a win in the Grade1 The Saint Larry over 10F. She sat in 2nd position for much of the race before powering away to win by 1-1/2 lengths with a 105SP. Well I am pleased to be joined now by her trainer Juju. Juju thanks for joining me today, How is she heading into the race??? “I have her as fit as human hands can have her and i would think whatever beats her here will win the race”. Thanks for joining me Juju and goodluck today.

5. Lucky’s Janene – 14- 5-3-0

Her last couple of runs have been good without being brilliant. I want to look back to her start 3 runs ago where at stakes level she went out with a big lead and then held on in the straight to win by 1/4 length with a 101SP. If she reproduce that run she has a good chance here.

6. Heart Noir – 12- 3-2-3

She will settle in behind the speed and if she gets a little bit of luck in running she may very well sneak into the trifectas here. Last run over 9 Furlongs she settled at the tail of the small field before running home well to finish 2nd beaten 2-1/4 lengths with a 93SP.

7. Winsome Ransom – 10- 4-1-1

Comes into this in career best form. Last she ran 2nd in an owner restricted stake race where she got into a lovely position early and then made a little ground in the straight to finish 2nd. I look a run further back and see that she ran 5th in the Grade3 Irish 1000 Guineas Trial where she finished 5th behind Duchess of Skunk. Would need to improve to beat that one here but she is on an upward sprial at the moment.

8. Falling Fire – 9- 5-0-3

This 3yo daughter of Awesome Again had been racing well in allowance level before being turned out in stakes company for the first time last start…And what a stakes debut it was!!!! Sitting with the leader early she then dropped the rest of the field winning by 5-1/4 lengths with a 90SP. Well the further they went the further she got in front last start so we know she will enjoy today’s distance.

9. Varoooooooom – 6- 3-0-0

Takes a big step up here today from allowance level to Grade1 but you never know until you test them and after all she will only be 3 once. Last time out in open allowance company she showed a really good turn of foot to sprint quickly posting a commanding win with a 90 SP. Anything like that run will see her competitive here.

A very hard race to assess with so many beautiful horses engaged. My selections for the race are 4 – 1 – 8.

I hope all horses have a safe run and I wish all the trainers the best.
