We have some very impressive colts that have come to showcase their early talent. Since it is the first Gr2 of this early year, some trainers will be starting their horse for the 3rd time to get that elusive graded victory early in their colt’s career. Last years victor of this race was Papa Bear CC, trained by Balata. He has earned over $500,000 in his career, so this race is a platform for things to come later in the year. Hisfinal time of <st1:time hour="13" minute="11">1:11</st1:time> 1/5this the standard for today’s race. A speed number of 84 is what it took to get the job done here last year. Trainers must make sure that they have brought their horse ready to run today, for one mishap and it may spell trouble. As far as pace is concerned, well it’s gonna’ be pretty quick up there today. This race is dictated by speed, not developing horses. In order to win, you must be fast and be ready to run now. Let’s take a look at these emerging colts from the rail out.

DC Contender, trained by Con10der, comes here today with a very impressive maiden win. He broke on top and extended his lead to 3 ¼ at the top of the stretch and his final margin of 1 ¾ at the wire. His debut speed number of 76 against only 4 others was impressive. A very successful debut that makes trainers scratch their heads as to what possible horse they may have on their hands. Con10der brings him here today to find out just that. He will play a pivotal part of today’s race. I don’t believe that he will get his natural lead today, but I believe he will sit right behind the leader. If he can relax behind a horse and let him do the dirty work, he can take first crack if the frontrunner starts to fold. In his return MSW race, the son of Samum again flashed his deadly speed, and after having a race under his belt, he cruised to the wire with a length to spare. His 71speed number and blazing front running speed told MrVica that he was ready to be tested. In his last, the Gr3 Television, he faced 13 others. A very nice debut against a full field. He comes here today fully rested (6 weeks), and the betting public has made him thepost-time favorite. His DS, Silver Deputy, gives him the much needed athleticism for these young races. Can he repeat that performance and improve slightly? It’s so hard to gauge these young horses, but a horse that wins thateasily 1st time out against a full field usually can come close to another effort like that. Some things to like here today for this guy. Firstly, he’s won at 2 different distances and seemed to not fully exert himself yet. In his maiden effort, TransparentFarce broke dead last in the field of 9 others. With only 2f to go, jock Jolley tapped the big boy to get his mind to running. Transparent Farce responded with an incredible closing kick that got him to the wire first, passing 6 horses through the stretch. He returned in The Sedona Stakes, where he went off at 5-1. He broke towards the rear again, trailing 8 others down thebackside. Sitting sixth at the top of the stretch, Transparent Farce would again unleash that turn of foot and drive to the wire. He would miss the win by a driving ¾ of a length, but is here today to turn the tables on Tariat’s Town and others. A big positive for this guy today is that he has a real front runner in here today that will ensure the action early, which will benefit his tremendous kick in the lane. A big closing late threat for Skunk. (Grank first foal). 10-1 and Murano in the irons.

Smoke’s Analysis:

What an exciting race we should have here today. But congrats to the winner of this race, as they will move to the head of the class in the divisional rankings.
