The field would be vying for a sum of $2,000.000. The seven contenders went through the post parade easily, though upon loading Conglomerate King, owned by hewett, spooked near the gates, nearly dumping jockey S. Fairchild on the firm turf course. Eventually settled down, the five-year-old son of North Light (IRE) loaded easily into the number three post. Once loaded the horses all waited patiently within the starting gates.
Once the doors flew open and the horses broke it was Conglomerate King who was away first out of the gate and away on the lead. He led early by an impressive four and a quarter lengths over Cozy Bend (IRE), who was trained by rlogan. Running right even with Cozy Bend (IRE) to his outside was haackslew’s Alondra Power (IRE), the lone filly in the race that weekend. All three of the front runners were running as expected according to their past record. Trailing the seven horse pack early on was Storm’s Gone Again, owned by tisgold. The longshot on the betting board, the oldest horse in the field trailed the leader by twelve and a quarter lengths, though he was a proven closer.
As the field continued on Conglomerate King increased his lead to five and three-quarter lengths over Cozy Bend (IRE). The filly, Alondra Power (IRE), was still running along in third but had dropped back a few lengths behind Cozy Bend (IRE), no longer running alongside the colt. A length off the pace of the filly was Vindianapolis, trained by icbomber4. Going another two lengths back was whispa4’s River Sun in fifth, the connections of the colt deciding to hold him back this start with the prevalence of pace in this race. The post time favorite, Portman’s Perfect, owned by nijinsky4, was in sixth with Storm’s Gone Again, still trailing the field, now off by nineteen lengths.
As the field neared the turn before the stretch Conglomerate King had lost a lot of ground and was starting to fade out of the race, not able to keep up the pace he’d set for the entire mile and a quarter. Quickly closing in behind him towards the inside rail was Cozy Bend (IRE), just a half length off his flank. Vindianapolis was gaining ground as well, though was a length and a half off Cozy Bend (IRE), having also passed by Alondra Power (IRE). Positions for the rest of the field remained the same as the eleven horse field came roaring for home.
In the stretch Conglomerate King would surrender his lead to Cozy Bend (IRE), who went flying past, having more gas in the tank towards the wire. At this point Conglomerate King was fading fast as the rest of the field rushed up on him. Vindianapolis would try to challenge Cozy Bend (IRE) for the lead, but in the final furlongs he would come up a length and three-quarters short. Cozy Bend (IRE), who sat behind the pacesetter Conglomerate King for nearly the entire race would go on to win easily in 2:01 with a speed figure of one hundred nine under jockey D. Ledwith. The connections of the winning colt were estatic. Vindianapolis came in for second with the filly Alondra Power (IRE) making it home for third.
Also Rans: Portman’s Perfect, River Sun, Conglomerate King, and Storm’s Gone Again.

[3

post-8062","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews
["GET
