A million dollar purse is on the line. Six of the fourteen entrants have earned over a million dollars during their career. The horses rank between fourth and ninety-seventh going a route distance. The field has two six year olds, with the rest of the filed splitting to four and five year olds fairly evenly. Now that the generalizations are out of the way, lets get down to the nitty-gritty of it all.

Breaking from the rail is super20’s BROADWAY DANCER. Ranked forty-first in the division this five year old son of Kingmambo is coming into the race in top form. He is a grade 1 winner at this distance as a two year old, and most recently won a grade 3 at a mile. In his last race he won going a mile easily, and with a top speed figure of 116. Generally he will lay just off the pace and close in to win after the final call. Looking at the past performances one concerning point is he seems to win two and then bounce on the third. At 7/1 could this be his bounce race, or maybe hefll break that trend and run away with it.

Lopo34 sends out the next entrant DUKE OF NORMANDY the forty-fifth ranked dirt router. The four year old son of Bluegrass Cat is a listed stakes winner at this distance, and overall is grade 2 placed. The Duke is going through a bit of a dry spell with only one win in the past nine months, however his last race showed that he still has something left in the tank. Look for him to settle several lengths off the lead and attempt to close in on the leaders late in the race. At 11/1 if he can keep up in the early going of the race, and close soon enough he could be in it to win it at the end.

Breaking from the third post will be lawyerron’s DESTINY’S GLORY. Destiny, a four year old son of Seeking The Gold, is ranked ninety-seventh with just four career wins, his only stakes win, was a grade two last time out going nine panels. In five of his last eight races he posted triple digit speed figures, as well as all of his wins. Look for him to back well off the pace and be coming on fast at the end of the race. At 27/1 this is definitely a dark horse of the field, but nine furlongs is the shortest hefs won at and I believe he favors the longer distances.

Breaking from the four hole is Looneylopo’s SNARKY REMARK. Snarky is the fourth ranked routing colt, a five year old son of Invincible Spirit. Just looking at the pedigree and past performances briefly, I must say I probably never would have tried him on the dirt, only once off the board on turf. Good thing looneylopo tried it all, and Snarky has shown great talent on the dirt, with over three million in earnings, a multiple grade 1 winner, including the BB Classic as a three year old. Snarky Remark loves to trail the field and run on late, and is capable of huge speed figures so a quick early pace wonft hurt his chances. At 12/1 I think Snarky Remark can repeat last yearfs performance and take this race two years in a row.

Drawing post five is lopics’ GLORIOUS SONG a five year old son of Unbridledfs Song. Songfs favorite speed figure looks to be a 110, but his last win was in an allowance race back in November. However, he has been hitting the board with solid figures stakes races. He has one win at this distance in an allowance and is a grade 2 winner with almost four hundred thousand in earnings. Glorious is yet another horse who will be coming from the back, he may be midpack back, but still not up close. In his last start he missed the win by a head, going a little further than today. At 9/1 Ifll pass on this one because he wants more distance.

Breaking from post six will be sdmf2’s WUNDERKID a five year old son of Point Given. The Wunder is ranked ninety-fourth in dirt routes with over six hundred thousand in earnings, and is a restricted stake winner at this distance, while being a grade 2 winner overall. Finally a horse that will be up near the pace, I was starting to get tired of all of these closers. However, he does lack the speed that the rest of the competition has. At 15/1 hefll have to replicate that 112 from his race back in November to figure to be any factor in this race.

Loading into gate seven will be hoof hearts’ ALYPOINT, a six year old son of Point Given. He is the second offspring by Point Given in this race, and is ranked thirty-second overall, with earnings of just over a half of a million dollars. Alypoint is a grade 1 winner at this distance, as recently as three races back. Since that win though he has gone through a bit of a slump. That 116 may have worn him down a bit, not to mention his age may be starting to kick in. Once again wefre back to having a closer, at least the final eighth of a mile should be exciting! At 9/1 if Aly can get back to the way he ran in November hefll be a force to be reckoned with.

Drawing post eight is ticketman0’s POWER RANKING a four year old son of Awesome Again, who is ranked a solid twenty-eighth. Aptly named Power Ranking is lightly raced for his age, and is a listed stake winner at this distance, and is grade one placed at nine furlongs. This is the first horse who you can honestly think will be vying for the lead, and he is capable of wiring the field with a huge number. Two back he won at this distance with a 119, but there are a couple of other speed horses to his outside, not to mention some strong closers in the race that will be trying to catch him at the end. In that race he also rated some, rather than go to the lead. At 7/1 Power Rating will have the best chance to win if he rates again, rather than trying to wire the field.

Post nine goes to bacchus’ K’S GIANT DOSSIER a four year old son of Giantfs Causeway. Successful as a three year old Dossier is ranked fifth in dirt routes, with earnings of 1.1 million, he won his first grade 1 race last time out. He closed from way out of it to win, but is also capable of running from the middle of the pack. At 19/1 he won last time at 34/1 so you canft write him off, but it was a huge jump in speed figures, and one has to wonder how much it left in the tank.

Loading into gate ten will be tulloch’s TULLOCH RANGE a tough luck five year old son of Include. Ranked sixty-fifth in dirt routes, he is a grade 2 winner at this distance, posting a 114 in the win four races back. During that race he breathed down the necks of the leaders until the third call, by that time he was clear in front. He also has a tendency to run at the front, if he sprints away the field may not catch him. I call him a tough luck horse though because he is capable of posting huge speed figures while not earning a trip to the winnerfs circle. At 7/1 he hasnft seen the winnerfs circle since last September, hefs still running well, but may not be in top form for the run he needs to have today. If he falters today it may be a good idea to try the turf, you never know what could happen.

Post eleven goes to socalman’s TELESIO a five year old son of Bernardini. Ranked fifty-third with over a half a million in earnings this grade three winner comes in with two consecutive listed stakes wins at this distance. Besides that one graded victory, Telesio seems to be allergic to graded races, finishing off the board in five of his last seven attempts. Generally a stalker, he can run on very late, or kick it into gear earlier in the race to be part of it for the last quarter of a mile. At 10/1 in a listed stake against lesser horses Ifd pick him in an instant, but not today.

Jonsnow’s WATERGATE SCANDAL will break from post position twelve. A six year old son of Empire Maker he is ranked thirty-fifth in routes with over 2.7 million in earnings. Watergate is the reigning Breederfs Bowl Mile Champion, but has not run to form since that race. A pacesetter, he failed to deliver in an open allowance last time out, which is concerning. That race may have been a tune up for this race, but to seriously consider him as a possible winner you would hope he could handle an allowance field. At 11/1 its hard to go against the BB Mile Champion, but he is off form.

Simster4’s JUILLET BLUES will be the second to last to load in the field of fourteen. A four year old son of Gone West, he is ranked seventh in routes, with over 1.5 million in earnings, and his a grade one winner at this distance. He will be up there at the start battling with Watergate Scandal, and Power Rating for the lead. Lately his best performances have been in listed stakes, but his speed figures have been staying right up there. At 9/1 coming off of a seemingly easy listed stake he could have enough in the tank to battle it out to get the lead, just for him to win he canft use up too much, because of the strong closers in this race.

Last to load will be super4’s ON THE ROAD a four year old son of Dynaformer. On The Road is ranked thirteenth, and is a multiple grade one winner, with 2.7 million in earnings. His last effort was slightly disappointing, but it was the Equinics, and anything can happen those restricted types of races. Before that he had two wins at this distance, winning easily both times with 117 speed figures. When at his best he isnft far off the lead, which for todayfs race I think may be the best plan. At 8/1 if the jock gets him to rate a couple of lengths off of the early speed I think this could be the horse to beat. Ifm also curious as to why this one has tried the turf yet, I guess if its not broke, donft fix it!

A very talented field of older horses will be exiting the starting gate on Saturday. It really could be anyonefs race, so I wonft pick an actual winner. Good luck to all, may your horses run fast, and return home safely!!

[2

post-7900","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
