I will this week look at some of the more interesting sires based at stud in the Country. Germany at present has one of the best breeding programs in the world. This is highlighted by the fact a German bred horse is most likely to turn out to be on the international classifications at the end of the year than those of any other country. They are therefore due a massive bump in general in the sim some very substantial. I do feel sorry for the Spanish and I think Greek horses that share the regional bred tag with them.

All the sires below are more than capable of breeding graded stakes winners and have done so in real life except the first season sire. If they cannot in the sim that is because the rating attached to them is wrong.

Dai Jin – This classic winning son of Peintre Celebre has done well at stud from very small crops he has had the same number of graded stakes winners in real life as Vindication did in the same number of crops. Of course this should have been suspected looking at the racing merits of the two. It would be unfair if his sim rating was not higher than Vindication who needed a massive drop in ability to reflect actual results versus sim results if he had not died. He appears to be getting better support now as well both in terms of numbers and quality. He should be capable of throwing the odd very goo runner each year.

Dashing Blade – has been a very good sire in Germany for a long time. He should be capable of getting a graded stakes winner per year and several listed stakes horses. His record as a broodmare sire is better and will continue to improve over the coming years as well. Having Sharpen Up as a dam sire is an added bonus considering how well he works with Danzig line stallions.

Desert Prince – was a very good racehorse and started out his stud life at the Irish National Stud initial results were very promising but for some reason he did not build on them saying that he has sired 14 graded winners in his time at stud. He should be still capable of getting graded winners still maybe one a year and the move to German could be positive for him. He should suit broodmares by Dashing Blade as an example.

Lomitas – has been a very solid sire over the years though is time in England was not as fruitful as expected. He is still capable of siring graded winners he had a grade 1 winning horse in 2009. It would be no surprise to see him do well as a broodmare sire in time he already has an Arc placed horse in this capacity.

Monsun – Is one of the best sires in the world and has a stud fee to match one of the joint highest in the world. He is covering reduced books due to eye sight problems. He has an excellent record and at one point half of all his offspring that had run at 12f or above had earned black type. He continues to be one of the leading sources of stamina in the world. It is worth pointing out his best bred runners have yet to hit the track. He also has several interesting sire sons at stud.

Samum – Is one of those interesting sons of Monsun at stud. He was a classic winning racehorse and is already a classic producing sire. His last two crops have been his best in terms of quality of mares and it would be no surprise to see his statistics improve in the coming years considerably especially given Monsun’s health and price. He should be a decent staying turf sire in the sim capable of getting a couple of graded winners per crop. It would appear his ability was raised in the sim last year.

Sholkhov – was a decent race horse and was a grade 1 winner at 2 and classic placed at three. This is not good enough to get you on the Coolmore roster so he was sold. His offspring have been doing well in Germany and his percentage of stakes winners to runners is very good. He mixes really well with Surumu a top class dam sire in Germany and worldwide but you would not guess so looking at his sim statistics. He should be afforded better chances his offspring stay well and need time but there is no reason to think that he is still not capable long term of being a 5% stakes winning sire to runners

Silvano – this horse was as tough as teak. He has done really well at stud. Most of his time has been spent in South Africa where he has no fewer than 5 grade 1 winners already. Ok you have to take South African form with a pinch of salt it is several pounds below top class but he has several graded winner s in Europe as well. Out of interest his dam is probably the most influential horse to have run in Arizona in recent years I believe she won around a dozen races at Turf Paradise. He should be capable of siring a few stakes class horses at least each year.

Tertullian – is a sire on the rise. He has sired two of the last three winners of the German 2,000 Guineas which is form above that required to win 3yo only turf graded races in the USA. He is also a sire who is sexy for other reasons. They are his pedigree he is a brother of Urban Sea dam of Galileo and Sea The Stars. On top of that his own sire is her sire Miswaki which adds even more weight to the pedigree another half brother of his is multiple grade 1 producing and classic winning sire King’s Best. This has lead to an improved book of mares in 2010 his percentage of stakes winners to runners was not shabby before and is likely to improve. He is well worth keeping an eye on as a sire.

Adlerflug – he is a first season sire and had a good race record being a multiple grade 1 winner. He is a typical German horse in that he excels at 12f and like a bit of cut in the going. His sire In The Wings has one very good son at stud in Singspiel though you would never guess looking at his sim record. His dam sire Last Tycoon boasts one of the best records in the world as a dam sire though his sim record is diabolical compared to real life. We then get into the exciting part of his pedigree that second dam is in fact a half sister to Urban Sea and the sire above. This is an excellent family which is one of the hottest in the stud book at present. It is hard to see him not getting top class horses not in massive numbers but several every year. In five years time a breeding of Adlerflug*Tertullian*Surumu would be no major surprise in top class turf races.

This weeks runners as usual bear no reality on what should be expected for an eleven furlong turf race in Germany. Apart from Montjeu all the sires listed above are or have the potential for new sires a far greater probability factor of siring a top class turf horse.

DIVINE SHAKE (KY) SHAKESPEARE x HIGH CHAPARRAL (IRE) x PEINTRE CELEBRE

This horse’s sire has zero to recommend him as a stallion. In fact he has less to recommend him than Zaminder did when he was based in Florida. That means zero graded horses and nothing better than 25,000 claim horses. Theatrical has a poor record as a sire of sires which adds even more fuel to the poor stallion file. All the German sires listed above should have considerably higher ratings than this horse. The back end of this pedigree offers hope though especially bred to the sires above. This 4yo is on the up and seems to be an improver with age. This is good for the owner who should get a decent horse for several years to come. Recent results and speed figures are positive and in a small field even though he has to improve in terms of quality in stakes company form he has place claims.

MUSICAL CAT (KY) BLUEGRASS CAT x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x DANZIG

It has to be hard to see Bluegrass Cat siring any top class middle distance turf horses especially that run outside of the USA. This horse does not suggest he has the breeding or the tough attitude required to be able to hack it on German galloping tracks with good ground at best. I would put money on this horse either breeding or choking. I hope for his owner that this does not happen to this horse in the sim. His shrewd owner has eyed an easy chance to hit the frame in a graded race here. The horses speed figures and current form, give him a fair chance here. As long as he does not bulk at going back to graded company should run well.

MON COUP (IRE) MONTJEU (IRE) x KINGMAMBO x SEATTLE SLEW

I do hope this mare wins just on her breeding alone. Her sire looks nailed on to once again have classic winners in 2010. The question is how many and will it be the first triple crown winner in England since Nijinsky? This filly is top class and has fallen back a bit since last year. She was placed in the big open turf race in Dubai last year. This is an easier race than that. She maintains good form if a step below what was shown last year. In this sort of race she has to be respected and has a decent chance.

PLEASANTLY BBOR (KY) PLEASANTLY PERFECT x AWESOME AGAIN (CAN) x KINGMAMBO

This horse’s sire has not really lived up to expectations so far. It may well be that like him his off spring need a lot of time. This is going to have a massive impact on his commercial appeal if there is that much left already. His offspring also have not shown themselves to be needing long distances on the evidence of his first three year olds last year. This horse does look up against it in this race for several reasons. His form does not really suggest he wants or likes distances as far as this and probably more importantly he does not appear to have the same class as some of the other runners. He appears a long shot in this filed.

IM A BAD KIRBY (KY) STREET CRY (IRE) x DYNAFORMER x KINGMAMBO

Street Cry has done very well in America and to some extent in Australia his European record reads less well. The first thing to say none of his stakes winner have won at further than a mile in fact al have won at less than a mile. He therefore is an influence for speed. The other factor worth noting he has only had one stakes winner that was not from his first crop that horse never won again and is now pretty hopeless on the all weather showing the mental fragility many of his offspring display. This horse is lightly raced and improving. He stays the trip which is a major surprise given statistical data. On the basis that this time of year many horses improve at a rate of knots this horse has a decent chance in this race.

FALLOUT SHELTER (KY) GHOSTZAPPER x NIJINSKY II x BUCKPASSER

Nijinsky was one of the best broodmare sires in the world it is fair to say that his day has past now. He is still a very good dam dam sire. His sim record does not really reflect so far the fall off that would be expected as his mares get to the ripe old age they are now. He has only sired one graded winner as a dam sire born after 2003 in real life that is very different to the sim. He is not the only old sire this relates this is one of the quirks that comes to light as the game develops over time. This is a top class horse that excels at this trip. His form and speed figures demand a lot of respect in this race as well. With everything in his favour and no obvious fall off in ability yet he has to have a great chance here.

As for my selections:-

1 Fallout Shelter, evidence suggest eh still retains a lot of ability
2 Im A Bad Kirby young horse on the upgrade
3 Mon Coup very good filly and has to be repsected

[2

post-7894","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
