Where Every Race Has a Story.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Canada Mile: Eleven Horses, Three Millionaires, and One Mile to Settle It<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ontario-CAN \u2014 Sunday, September 6, 2026<\/strong> A million dollars can buy a horse a reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two million can make everyone notice when that horse walks into the paddock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But on Sunday afternoon in Ontario, none of it buys a head start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Canada Mile<\/strong> has drawn a fascinating international field of eleven, including three millionaires, accomplished stakes runners from around the world, and one rapidly emerging gelding who may be running better than all of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nice and Chill<\/strong> arrives with more than $2 million in earnings. Elemental Powers<\/strong> has banked more than $1.7 million. Good Choix<\/strong> has crossed the million-dollar mark as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then there is Regal Rocks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He doesn’t yet have their bankroll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What he does have are consecutive speed figures of 117.938 and 117.872<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At one mile on firm turf, reputation will get you into the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After that, they’ll have to run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #1 DO YOU GET DEJAVU \u2014 Knocking on the Door<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> darkasr Two wins from eighteen starts hardly sounds like the r\u00e9sum\u00e9 of a Grade I threat \u2014 until you look at what Do You Get Dejavu has been doing lately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His last three performances have produced figures of 111, 110 and 117<\/strong>, and the most recent may have been the best race of his career. Going nine furlongs in the Eddie O Cap, he settled sixth, began moving into contention and finished third, beaten only 1\u00bc lengths while posting a 117.136<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now he cuts back to a mile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That could be significant for a horse whose two career victories have both come in sprint races, yet who has shown increasingly strong form as the distances have stretched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Dark Angel\u2013Invincible Spirit\u2013Frankel pedigree certainly doesn’t look out of place on firm turf, and his current form says he belongs here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> He doesn’t win often. But if that 117 wasn’t a fluke, he doesn’t need to improve much to win this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #2 RAVEN’S FLAPPAGE \u2014 The Late Arrival<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> asteroid Raven’s Flappage wasn’t among the names that originally made this race jump off the early entry sheet, but he has made the final field and gets his chance on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His career has taken him across all three surfaces, although turf has clearly produced his best results: three victories, three seconds and two thirds from ten starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Recent form is the concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His 2026 campaign has been spent largely on dirt, and his only turf appearance this year resulted in a 13th-place finish at 8\u00bc furlongs in Wyoming. His latest start produced a 106 figure on a sloppy dirt mile, but Sunday’s assignment represents an entirely different level of competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is useful turf ability buried in the r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The question is whether he can find it against this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> At 25\/1, Raven’s Flappage arrives without expectations. Sometimes that makes a horse dangerous \u2014 but he’ll need the race of his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #3 ALL CORRUPTED \u2014 Catch Him If You Can<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> teamasr5 If you’re wondering who might decide how the Canada Mile is run, start here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All Corrupted likes the front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In March’s Horse Chestnut Stakes, he led through every call before finishing third. In June, he went straight to the lead in the nine-furlong United Invitational and simply refused to come back, winning with a 113.849<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That wasn’t an isolated performance. He won last year’s Lipstick Guineas at a mile with a 114.160<\/strong>, again racing prominently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His most recent seven-furlong effort wasn’t as strong, but the return to a mile may put him right back where he wants to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Six victories from sixteen turf starts tell us he knows how to finish races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The intriguing question is how aggressively everyone else allows him to run the first half of this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> Give a horse like All Corrupted an uncontested lead in a Grade I mile and everyone behind him may spend the stretch wishing they hadn’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #4 UNLUCKY RICH \u2014 Looking for April Again<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> cork11 There was a moment this spring when Unlucky Rich looked ready to become very interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In April, he dropped well off the early pace in a nine-furlong allowance, began gathering horses late and swept past them to win by two lengths with a 109.713<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nothing since has gone nearly as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Three subsequent starts have produced finishes of seventh, seventh and sixth, and his most recent 7\u00bd-furlong effort resulted in a 97 figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunday brings him back to a mile against the strongest field he has encountered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The challenge is substantial, but his running style gives him one potential path. If the pace becomes considerably hotter than expected, Unlucky Rich won’t be anywhere near the early fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then it becomes a matter of how much he has left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> The April version belongs in the conversation. The July version needs a lot of help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #5 NICE AND CHILL \u2014 The Two-Million-Dollar Horse<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> beerkeg0 The richest horse in the Canada Mile needs little introduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n $2,018,870. Eight career victories. Seven wins on turf.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And earlier this year, Nice and Chill reminded everyone exactly how he accumulated that r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After opening the season with a 112 in California, he traveled to Hong Kong for the Champions Mile and delivered a 113.736<\/strong>, sitting just behind the leaders before taking over and winning by half a length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Next came a 115.149<\/strong> in the Queen Sam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His latest race was disappointing \u2014 ninth in The Suffix with a 106 \u2014 but accomplished horses are allowed an off day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n More importantly, Sunday’s mile is home territory. Nice and Chill has spent much of his career competing at exactly this distance, and his tactical style gives his rider options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> The question isn’t whether Nice and Chill is good enough. Two million dollars answered that long ago. The question is which Nice and Chill arrives Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #6 SANTIAGOS \u2014 One Big Run Away<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> corzak9 Santiagos has won only once in twenty-one starts, but he’s also collected five seconds and three thirds while competing exclusively on turf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And there are hints that his best race could make him interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last December he came from near the back of a fourteen-horse field to finish third at 7\u00bd furlongs with a 111.668<\/strong>. His latest mile effort in Germany produced a 109 after he again settled well behind the early leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That tells us exactly what his connections will be hoping for Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lots of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Santiagos isn’t likely to participate in the opening argument. He’ll be somewhere behind it, waiting to see what’s left when the real running begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Against this level of competition, however, waiting isn’t enough. He’ll need to deliver a finish better than anything we’ve seen recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> If the leaders turn the Canada Mile into a fight, Santiagos is one of the horses hoping to pick up the pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #7 GOOD CHOIX \u2014 The Millionaire Looking for Another Moment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> corzak Good Choix has earned $1,228,560<\/strong>, but his r\u00e9sum\u00e9 is unusual for a millionaire: only three victories from thirty starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That tells you something about the company he has kept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He is another horse who prefers to do his running late, frequently settling near the back before trying to make up ground through the final stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His latest effort in The Suffix was encouraging. After racing tenth throughout much of the mile, Good Choix closed to fifth, beaten only 1\u00bd lengths, while producing a 109.432<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Earlier this season he reached 112.712<\/strong> going 8\u00bd furlongs in Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The concern is obvious: he hasn’t won in the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But horses don’t accumulate seven figures by accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> Good Choix has spent a career chasing good horses. Sunday he gets another chance to remind everyone why he belongs among them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #8 ELEMENTAL POWERS \u2014 The Professional<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> xpansion3 Nine wins. More than $1.7 million<\/strong> earned. And perhaps most importantly, a horse who seems to understand exactly what his job is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Elemental Powers is a miler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Twenty of his twenty-two career starts have come at route distances, and his recent mile r\u00e9sum\u00e9 includes performances of 110, 110 and 116<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That 116 came last time in Japan’s Fried Rice Mile. Elemental Powers sat third throughout much of the race, moved into striking position and finished second by only half a length while recording a 116.334<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That is a serious prep for this assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His Kingman\u2013Frankel\u2013Kingmambo pedigree reads like it was designed for turf racing, but by now we don’t need the pedigree to tell us what he can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The record already has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> Elemental Powers doesn’t need the race to unfold perfectly. He can sit close, wait and attack. In a Grade I mile, versatility is a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #9 REGAL ROCKS \u2014 The Horse They Have to Catch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> stcbeisbol Forget the earnings for a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Look at the numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 117.938. Those are Regal Rocks’ last two speed figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In May’s Confederate Stakes, he went straight to the front, opened up through the race and demolished the field by seven lengths<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two months later in the Turf Invaders Stakes, he again raced prominently, took command and finished second by only half a length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Regal Rocks has seven victories from sixteen starts, with another seven second- or third-place finishes. He has never raced anywhere but turf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And perhaps most importantly for Sunday, he has already won at a mile, producing a 114.604<\/strong> while leading throughout and drawing clear by 4\u00bd lengths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are richer horses in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are horses with more famous r\u00e9sum\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Right now, there may not be a faster one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> The Canada Mile may ultimately come down to one question: who can make Regal Rocks slow down?<\/p>\n\n\n\n #10 NO ESTOY SEGURO \u2014 The Dangerous Outsider<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> cjt No Estoy Seguro enters with more than $857,000<\/strong> in earnings and a r\u00e9sum\u00e9 built entirely on turf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His latest performance deserves attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the same Eddie O Cap where Do You Get Dejavu ran third with a 117, No Estoy Seguro finished fifth while recording a 114.758<\/strong>. He had settled eighth early before gradually working his way closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That was a significant rebound from his previous start in the Queen Sam, where he finished twelfth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At his best, he has the kind of late-running style that could become very useful here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because if Regal Rocks and All Corrupted begin testing one another earlier than expected, somebody will be coming from behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n No Estoy Seguro would like to be one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> He doesn’t need to be involved early. He just needs the leaders to leave something behind for him to chase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #11 FIRE IN OJAI \u2014 The Improving California Runner<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Owner:<\/strong> beefcake2 Fire in Ojai may not carry the Grade I r\u00e9sum\u00e9 of some of the headliners, but his recent form says he belongs in the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Three starts ago, he stretched to a mile in the Solaguen Turf Challenge and responded with a 112.387 speed figure<\/strong>, finishing second after settling seventh early and gradually working his way into contention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He followed that by winning the 7\u00bd-furlong Secret Coon Turf Sprint with a 110.980<\/strong>, then returned in August and finished third in the California Turf Stars Stakes with a 109.920<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That gives him three consecutive strong turf performances entering the biggest test of his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His record is also quietly impressive: 10 wins from 26 starts<\/strong>, including six wins on turf<\/strong>, and he has shown that he can handle both sprint and route distances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The jump to Grade I company is significant, but this is not a horse arriving out of form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond the Wire:<\/strong> Fire in Ojai has spent the summer proving he belongs against better horses. Sunday tells us just how high that ceiling reaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n RACE SHAPE \u2014 Who Blinks First?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This may be where the Canada Mile gets decided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Regal Rocks<\/strong> has repeatedly demonstrated that he is comfortable controlling a race from the front. All Corrupted<\/strong> has exactly the same preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That creates the central tactical question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Does one concede?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Or do they look at each other and decide neither will?<\/p>\n\n\n\n If the pace remains reasonable, Regal Rocks becomes extremely dangerous. His last two figures make him the standard the others must reach, and we already know he can carry his speed for a mile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But if Regal Rocks and All Corrupted turn the opening stages into a contest, the complexion changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Elemental Powers, Fire in Ojai<\/strong> and Nice and Chill<\/strong> could get the ideal stalking trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Behind them, Do You Get Dejavu<\/strong>, Good Choix<\/strong>, Santiagos<\/strong> and No Estoy Seguro<\/strong> will be hoping the leaders do just enough damage to one another to bring the closers into play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That’s what makes this Grade I fascinating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There isn’t just a question of who is fastest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There’s a question of who gets to run their race<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n HORSES TO WATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Most Likely Winner \u2014 REGAL ROCKS<\/strong> Main Challenger \u2014 ELEMENTAL POWERS<\/strong> Best Value \u2014 DO YOU GET DEJAVU<\/strong> Live Longshot \u2014 SANTIAGOS<\/strong> FINAL THOUGHTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The money tells one story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nice and Chill \u2014 $2 million. The 116.334 in Japan puts him right there, and his tactical style may give him the best trip in the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 117.136 last time makes 7\/1 awfully interesting. He’s still searching for his first route victory, but he’s coming into the Canada Mile in excellent form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At 13\/1, he needs improvement. But we’ve already seen a 111 from him, and his deep-closing style gives him a completely different path if the front end collapses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
