The race is restricted to those horses that are 3 years old and older and will be across the firm turf track. This race has drawn a short field of seven horses but all of them are very nice looking, and all have in the past won their share of accolades. This is a tight field and will be tough to find the one that will make it to the wire first and get a trip over to the winner’s circle to collect their prize. The morning line odds and post positions have been released so let’s take a preview of the seven horses that will be going 12 grueling furlongs in the G1, Sword Swallower Stakes in New York this Saturday.

1

LIT CANDLE BARBARA

IRE

6G

maryfarms

G Garbaccio

27

7

52%

$614,437

16.00

5/1

Heading out first we have this 6 year old Brown Gelding (WORKFORCE x DYNAFORMER x DUBAI MILLENNIUM ) who’s most recent strike on the boards came two starts back when he came in third in the G2, The Cold Plate. In his most recent trip to the track in Berkshire, he would have difficulty going 12 furlongs in the G2, The Longstickgoboom Stakes. This late closer failed to fire in his stretch run and would cross the wire out of the picture in eighth over fifteen lengths back with a 99 speed rating. The owner is looking to see him have a rebounding effort this weekend when he heads over to his gate representing the Only Stayers residency.

2

PATH OF TIME

GB

5M

asrfrankel

T Ace

22

4

64%

$5,218,820

32.00

7/2

Next, we will see this 5 year old Bay Horse (FRANKEL (GB) x GONE WEST x SADLER’S WELLS ) that in his four starts this season has failed to find a hit on the boards. His most recent start would be in South Africa going 11 furlongs in the G1, The Greatest Show On Turf. He looked game in the early going finding a spot in second out of the gate. In his stretch run he would yield to others in the field and find a fifth place finish with a 109 speed rating. He will head out this weekend looking for his first slap on the boards representing the Orphan Racing residency.

3

SHADY GAMES

IRE

4G

chilimac1

G Wendorff

12

4

58%

$773,040

70.00

8/1

Here we have a 4 year old Bay Gelding (SEA THE STARS x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x SADLER’S WELLS ) that two starts back would drop in class and pick up the win in an Allowance start in Paris. He would then make his most recent start in Ireland going 11 furlongs in a $53600 Local Allowance race. His stamina outlasted other starters in the field, and he would pick up a second place finish almost nine lengths back at the wire with a 104 speed rating. He will be moving back up in class for the start in New York this weekend when he heads out of the paddock to the cheers of an excited crowd.

4

BIG NIGHT THUNDER

NY

4M

seabeast1

D Raymond

16

4

44%

$394,030

64.00

8/1

Next, we have this 4 year old Chestnut Colt (BIG BROWN x NIGHT OF THUNDER x SEA THE STARS ) that has made three prior starts this season. His best start would come in his most recent in New York going 11 furlongs in the G2, King Kam Sepoy Stakes. He found a quick spot out of the gate in second and held it all the way to the wire with a 111 speed rating. He showed up sharp here in New York last time and the owner is seeking another good performance out of his horse when they head out on Saturday to the cheers of an excited crowd.

5

SAMMY DOUBLES DOWN

GB

6G

givensunday

O A Haack

29

10

76%

$5,831,697

416.00

9/5

Next, we come to this 6 year old Chestnut Gelding (DUBAWI (IRE) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x KRIS S. ) that had run very well for the owner and would pick up the win two starts back in the G1, Sand Castle Golden Turf Classic. He would then make his most recent start in the G1, The Grand Brazilian going 12 furlongs. He put up a game effort in this start but would miss the boards for the first time since May of 2025 when he came in fourth with a 110 speed rating. Look for him to be in the mix coming down the final stretch this weekend representing the GR Simsters residency.

6

LOUISVILLE SAFE

SAF

4G

jagerbomb

R Hansen

19

4

63%

$2,926,910

64.00

8/1

This is a 4 year old Bay Gelding (CHIMICHURI RUN (SAF) x SAVABEEL (AUS) x SEA THE STARS ) that has made three prior starts this season and found his four year old season to be a tough graduation. His most recent start came in Deauville going 12 furlongs in the G1, The Saint Cloud Grand Prix. He lingered back in the crowd and would cross the wire in eighth with a 106 speed rating. He is seeking his first hit on the boards this season and hopes to find it here in New York on Saturday representing the Midas residency.

7

I AM SOW SLOW

AUS

5M

kirbykia

M Buck

20

8

90%

$496,463

137.50

4/1

Breaking from the final gate in this race will be this 5 year old Bay Horse (I AM INVINCIBLE (AUS) x HIGH CHAPARRAL (IRE) x KINGMAN ) that has been running very well for the owner. His time to shine came in his most recent start here in New York going 11 furlongs in the G2, King Kam Sepoy Stakes. He popped out of the gate and headed straight to the front and led this field all the way to the wire going away by six and a half for the win with a 117 speed rating. He easily earned a G2 win and is now in the hunt to find a G1 win this weekend representing the Midas residency.

Good luck to all owners and horses!

Skippy’s Watch List

4-Big Night Thunder: Second last time.
