This week we will head to New Jersey where on the card this Saturday they will be hosting the running of the G1, United Country Stakes. Ten horses will make the start across the firm turf track going 11 furlongs. The race is restricted to those horses that are three years old and older. Several prior graded winners will be seen in this race while the remainder will be seeking their first G1 win. The field looks pretty tight for this one and finding the winning ticket may be a guess finding the horse that will cross the wire first. The morning line odds and post positions have been released so let\u2019s take a preview of the ten horses that will make the start in the G1, United Country Stakes in New Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heading out first we have this 5 year old Bay Horse (EPIPHANEIA (JPN) x DEEP IMPACT x STREET CRY ) that back in March would pick up the win in the G1, Sydney Cup. He would go off the boards in his next start and then would make his most recent trip to the track in New York. He would travel 10 furlongs across the yielding turf in the G1, NY Island Cup. He would have a rough trip as his hoofs gained no traction across the wet grass. He would cross the wire in tenth with a 99 speed rating. He is looking to rebound this weekend after that failed effort and he should like the turf being listed as firm this weekend representing the East-West Connection residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we will see this 4 year old Bay Colt (FRANKEL (GB) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x NIJINSKY 2ND ) that has his only win this season came back in March in an Allowance start in Berkshire. Two starts back he put up a good effort in Dubai grabbing a third place finish in the Sand Castle Golden Turf Classic with a respectable 114 speed rating. His most recent start would come last month in Deauville going 12 furlongs in the G1, The Saint Cloud Grand Prix. He was in second through the third call but down the stretch he would get gobbled up to fall back to fifth at the wire with a 109 speed rating. We have seen better out of this horse in the past and he will try for a good performance this Saturday representing the DelPenn National residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we have an 8 year old Bay Horse (NOVELLIST x HUSSONET x GHOSTZAPPER that by most standards would be considered a senior citizen. However, when he finds the right race and feels up to the challenge can put on some pressure. Last time on the track he would be seen in Germany going 11 furlongs in the G2, The Einstein Stakes. He broke well out of the gate and found a spot in fourth. He would hold that spot all the way to the wire with a 108 speed rating. He is headed back out this Saturday and may need to find a little extra effort here when he heads over to the turf representing the Empire State Racing residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we have a 6 year old Chestnut Horse (DUTCH ART (GB) x ENCOSTA DE LAGO (AUS) x DANZIG ) that calls himself a fat girl, but this fat girl has shown up in the past with some good speed ratings. He is a multiple Listed Stakes winner but has yet to find a hit on the boards in a graded start. Last time on the track in Berkshire he would drop in class to make the start going 8.5 furlongs in a $53600 NW2y Local Allowance race. He came out of the gate and fell into second down on the rail. In his stretch run M Madden up top would ask for a little extra and he would respond getting to the wire first by three lengths and a 109 speed rating. He heads back to New Jersey this weekend and is in the hunt for a hit on the boards in a graded start when he heads out of the paddock to the cheers of an excited crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we have this 5 year old Light Grey Horse (MINESHAFT x ARROGATE x DUBAWI (IRE) ) that two starts back pick up a third place finish in the G3, The TV Stakes. He would then make his most recent start in New York going 10 furlongs in the G2, Out Of The City Handicap. He would never fire in this race and perhaps it was some equipment failure, and he would never be a factor crossing the wire in thirteenth with a 100 speed rating. He is seeking a rebounding effort this weekend making his first career start on the turf when he heads over to the grass representing the Orphan Racing residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a 6 year old Chestnut Horse (KITTEN’S JOY x AUSTRALIA x STREET CRY ) that three starts back would find a second place finish in the G2, The Stayer\u2019s Dash. In his most recent start, he would be seen going 12 furlongs in the G3, The Stars And Bars. He found a spot that he would hold in third until his stretch run where he would fall back a spot to fourth missing the boards with a 110 speed rating. He has never made a G1 start in his career, but the owner is giving him a shot to prove himself a contender when he heads out this weekend representing the Universal Racing Club residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we will see this 6 year old Bay Gelding (PINATUBO x DUBAWI (IRE) x RED RANSOM ) that two starts back would pick up the win in the G3, Great Beer Cap. He would then make his most recent start in Germany going 11 furlongs in the G2, The Einstein Stakes. He put on the pressure throughout this race finding the lead at the third call. In his stretch run he would lose that spot and fall back to cross the wire in third with a 108 speed rating. This horse has shown good speed in the past and if he pops this weekend, he could very well be a contender when he makes the start representing the East-West Connection residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we have a 4 year old Bay Colt (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT (IRE) x DURAMENTE x SO YOU THINK ) that would break his maiden back in May of 2025. Since that time, he has remained win-less with just a few hits on the boards. The odds makers have taken note of this and thus put him as the longest choice in the morning line. His most recent start would be in Ireland going 11 furlongs in a $53600 NW3y Local Allowance race. He would cross the wire in third but was eleven and a half lengths back from the winner and he posted a 102 speed rating in that race. This weekend he may find himself in deep water unless he can find some extra effort representing the East-West Connection residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heading out next, we have this 6 year old Bay Gelding (KINGMAN x KINGMAMBO x FRANKEL (GB) ) that had two G1 wins in a row heading into his most recent start. He would take the G2, The Nikki Show and the G1, The Grand Brazilian. He would then make his most recent start in New Zealand going 11 furlongs in the G1, The Mihali the Great Stakes with the turf listed as \u201cgood\u201d. Out of the gate in second he would fall back to third by the third call. He would lose another spot in his stretch run to cross the wire in fourth with a 107 speed rating. It seems he struggled on the wet turf but this weekend in New Jersey he gets his wish with a track listed as firm when he makes the start representing the Midas residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his most recent start, he would be seen in New Zealand going 11 furlongs in the G1, The Mihali the Great Stakes. He balked at the wet track and would never be a factor crossing the wire in eleventh with a 99 speed rating. He gets back on the firm turf this weekend and I can see him making a rebounding effort when he heads out of the paddock to the cheers of an excited crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
