We had exciting finishes at both ends of the race for both the win and caboose. GENE SCOTT who just missed out of the points in the first race of this series ended up the winner although he is lucky that the race wasn’t a few paces longer. In the Sun Dial portion of our series we had some folks dragging their walkers up the stretch and once again there were four horses within a couple of lengths for last place although they were barely within hailing distance of our winners. A newcomer to the series, and another Faeriebad entry, SUB WOOFER II was able to capture the last place spot and really tighten up the standings in the Sun Dial. That is what makes this series so interesting. Horses seem to come and go as their memories fail them and they forget to enter the next leg of the series or sometimes they just can’t seem to get the old bones ready again in time.

In the race itself, our host THREE WISE MEN and the winner GENE SCOTT started the race like they wanted to get the last bingo card before they were gone. They took off nearly six lengths ahead of everyone else. The furious pace eventually did in THREE WISE MEN and he fell back but our winner continued to lead the parade and only tired in the last few lengths of the race where he was very nearly caught by first time starter OUR REASONS AGAIN . The old girl probably would have won if the race was just a wee bit longer. Third place went to OR NOT TWO PUNCH who gathered a point and tied THREE WISE MEN for the overall lead in the OMOTM Standings. There are now four horses within a point of the lead including GENE SCOTT .

In a separate part of the race, in what we call the Sun Dial Standings, the race for last place is almost as coveted in the win in this series for AARP card holders. The winner of the Sun Dial Trophy is held in high regard back at the old folks horme. It’s always a lot of fun to see who contends. In the end (and I mean that both ways), we had four horses that finished more than twenty lengths behind our winner but SUB WOOFER II really proved that he doesn’t like to run in either sprints or on the clay and turned in an SPF that was nearly half of the winners. He was followed for points by both BRATTICUS and BEEF TOOTH the latter of which gained a point for the overall lead in the standings. It looked like BEEF TOOTH had this last place finish sewed up until the very end when the other two threw out their anchors and stumbled by him to the rear down the stretch. The stewards had to wait for quite a while to get these last four horses across the finish line.

GENE SCOTT will have to wait until June to requalify for the restrictions unless our host is able to win another race. There are seven races left in the ten race series and lots of things can happen including quite a few new horses that seem to jump into the field along the way. The Sun Dial standings are really heating up with lots of possibilities for a winner/loser there. That’s what makes this series so much fun.. Stay tuned Race Fans!

Best of luck to all of these fine old guys and gals!

The Leader Standings in the series:

THREE WISE MEN (Kelsobarn) 7 Point

OR NOT TWO PUNCH (Decker) 7 Points

GENE SCOTT (BeeAScout) 6 Points

P J LORD NELSON (Plunk5) 6 Points

WORKING TITLE (Gerbil) 3 Points

OUR REASONS AGAIN (Rharfbeam) 3 Points

CITY DEVIL (Capote99) 3 Points

DIABOLICAL PRINCE (Ruffino) 3 Points

TEQUILA SLAMMER II (Rharfonz) 1 Point

SOLAR SHADE (Jesus) 1 Point

Sun Dial Standings in the series:

BEEF TOOTH (Faeriebad) 7 Points

SUB WOOFER II (Faeriebad) 6 Points

WHO CAN I TURN TO (Pecos197) 6 Points

THE ARMS OF ORION (CMD2001) 6 Points

BRATTICUS (TheFred) 4 Point

CENTERFOLD SPARK (Millview20) 3 Points

SANDY RACK (LostKey2) 3 Points

SON OF RABBIT (WnrsCircle) 3 Points

VERBID’S GAL (Superfly) 1 Point

SKY WAHBIT II (Nineteen) 1 Point

Good luck to all runners!

Email your comments to pazjazz.btb@gmail.comI love to hear from you!

[3

post-7406","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews
["GET
