That’s right, I said races not race. There were races at both New Hampshire and Vermont this weekend with full fields of 20 each. That is a lot of geezers huffing and puffing around! Our Host THREE WISE MEN ended up winning in this New Hampshire leg and that was after finishing third in the first chapter. He has taken the lead in the series and could be tough if trainer Kelsobarn keeps feeding him that patented mixture of Viagra and Geritol! WORKING TITLE surprised here as the career turf horse took to the clay and really took off. Third place was taken by TEQUILA SLAMMER II who slammed through the crowded field to survive down the stretch.

In a separate part of the race, in what we call the Sun Dial Standings, the race for last place is almost as coveted in the win in this series for AARP card holders. The winner of the Sun Dial Trophy is held in high regard back at the old folks horme. It’s always a lot of fun to see who contends. In the Sun Dial portion of our series we had some folks dragging their walkers up the stretch but perhaps not near as far behind as in the Vermont race. WHO CAN I TURN TO was able to capture the last place spot and was only a mere 17 lengths behind the winner. He won a near dead heat for last with SANDY RACK . The track stewards had to get out their high tech instruments to see who had actually finished last and wasn’t sure which end of the horse to use for that measurement. In the end it was “TURN TO” by a tail. VERBID’S GAL ended up picking up a point in the standings for finishing just ahead of the other two. That is what makes this series so interesting. Now everyone is still eligible and some will be even with a win while others will have to wait out the host winning again if they want to get back in and gain points for the Old Man of the Mountain series Championship and garner all of the accolades that come with that. Certainly a nice thing to hang on your wall at the Old Horses Retirement Home!

Now we will have to see what happens in four weeks with this series. Will it be two races or even three now that both of these were filled up? I don’t know how far I can stretch myself, this cloning stuff can be expensive!! Back at the BTB offices, they don’t like to see CLONING on the old expense report! The early line is that it will be one race back at Vermont but will probably still be open to twenty runners. It will probably have to change to a NW of 3 in a year race as well. THREE WISE MEN will be rested and ready and sucking down his magic youth potion. We added a lot of folks to the leaders board this week so it is still anyone’s game. There are eight races left in the ten race series and lots of things can happen including quite a few heart attacks and strokes among the participants, so it should be interesting down the road. That’s what makes this series so much fun.. Stay tuned Race Fans!

Best of luck to all of these fine old guys and gals!

The Leader Standings in the series:

THREE WISE MEN (Kelsobarn) 7 Point

OR NOT TWO PUNCH (Decker) 6 Points

P J LORD NELSON (Plunk5) 6 Points

WORKING TITLE (Gerbil) 3 Points

CITY DEVIL (Capote99) 3 Points

DIABOLICAL PRINCE (Ruffino) 3 Points

TEQUILA SLAMMER II (Rharfonz) 1 Point

SOLAR SHADE (Jesus) 1 Point

Sun Dial Standings in the series:

BEEF TOOTH (Faeriebad) 6 Points

WHO CAN I TURN TO (Pecos197) 6 Points

THE ARMS OF ORION (CMD2001) 6 Points

CENTERFOLD SPARK (Millview20) 3 Points

SANDY RACK (LostKey2) 3 Points

SON OF RABBIT (WnrsCircle) 3 Points

BRATTICUS (TheFred) 1 Point

VERBID’S GAL (Superfly) 1 Point

SKY WAHBIT II (Nineteen) 1 Point

Good luck to all runners!

Email your comments to pazjazz.btb@gmail.comI love to hear from you!

[3

post-7253","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews
["GET
