Welcome back to Queensland for the 2009 racing season!\u00a0 Today we have a small field of last years 2yo’s to see if they can perform again this year at this level or will they instead fade to has beens?\u00a0\u00a0 It is the Buttered Captain Challenge Stakes and the 3yo girls will be running over 7.5 furlongs on what has been rated as a good turf track. <\/P>
1 DUMMY N SPIT(FL)<\/STRONG>\u00a0 <\/P> Owner: acarigua4 Well this is the loser of the race and the long shot of the race, I think the owner \/ trainer is seriously deluded and quite possibly out of his mind if he thinks this one is going to win today.\u00a0 I mean this horse has only just won her debut maiden last time out and that with a speed of only 73.\u00a0 The owner is kidding himself here.\u00a0 The horse is a shocker and has zero chance of taking this out. Deservedly the long shot of the race.\u00a0 Owner: wistful Known amongst her friends for always having the latest styles and in the lastest fashion she has been rumoured that she is a possible chance to making the cover of Horse Fashion.\u00a0 Not sure when but apparently it is in the making. Making her Stakes debut who after getting her maiden win in November 08 over 8 furlongs, ran third last time out in an Allowance race over the same distance again for a speed of 84.\u00a0 Will probably pick up on that speed here again to seriously challenge here.\u00a0 Will have to anyway.\u00a0 Trainer quiet but confident.\u00a0 Horse knows a win will not hurt her chances in the fashion world. Owner: martini A good career behind this girl already having started 12 times now for 4 wins.\u00a0 She has never finished worse than third though.\u00a0 Pretty good record hey?\u00a0 Impressive breeding with Montjeu(IRE) x Kingmambo x A.P. Indy.\u00a0 Has raced at Stakes level including a third at G3 level in only her second race and then a win in October in the More of the Ginny Memorial Stakes over 6.5 furlongs.\u00a0 She does look like she was wanting the extra distance but then last run she came out and won in an Allowance over 6.5 furlongs.\u00a0 Still I dont think the distance will trouble her here.\u00a0 The favourite and has a very good chance of taking this one. Owner: rlogans Known for hating early track work particularly when it is still dark and cold and you can see your breath in the air and you know your nice warm stable is just behind you…. Still put in the hard yards and you get results.\u00a0 And this girl does. Has not got a win at Stakes level yet but has got plenty of second places.\u00a0 Including one in a G2 early on and then lately in the Boomer Belly Stakes over 6 furlongs and The Bob’s Warnings Special over 6.5.\u00a0 Her last run was an impressive speed of 88 on an off track over 6 furlongs.\u00a0 The only question really is can she last the distance.\u00a0 Will probably end up with a placing but may not get the win if she can’t hold out. Owner: gocollect A yam is a type of food and I believe from what I have seen in the training yard that this girl eats them like they are going out of style.\u00a0 Trained by gocollect she is out of Pastoral Pursuits and has two wins to her career so far.\u00a0 Stakes debut today and is coming off those two wins in her last two runs.\u00a0 Best speed of 82 last time out so while on the tote is one of the long shots in this small field could surprise here I believe.\u00a0 A good chance if she gets her run right. Owner: zimzam Lightly run with only 4 races to her name. Already with 2 wins though she has only had the one race at Stakes level and that was on a yielding track where she ran third and closing over 6 furlongs. Ran in a heavy allowance race last time out over 7 furlongs which she won convincingly and is another who could seriously challenge here.\u00a0 Her owner zimzam whose horses have run here before is confident she could take this out. So confident in fact that the post celebration champagne is already chilling and the guests have been invited.
