When I was asked which track I wanted to cover this week, I jumped for Epsom.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It wasn\u2019t because of the warm atmosphere and the cheerful people that are at the track.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It wasn\u2019t for the refurbished press box with cable television.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It was for one reason\u2026 Roasted Weanies.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I heard the track had a promo going on, 10-cent Weanies!!!!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Who could turn that down?\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Throw on the kraut, add some mustard, and ya got yourself a delicacy!\u00a0 <\/SPAN>And, who could believe that the track also has a race called the Roasting Weanies Stakes starring eight 3-year olds going 7 furlongs on a firm turf track.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>They are all looking for there share of the $125,000 purse in this grade III race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>That will buy the winner a lotta Weanies!!!<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

1.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Tobyhanna\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>9-2<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Although not the favorite, Tobyhanna offers some value at 9-2.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He comes in with a 5-race win streak on the line.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He sports a record of 5-2-0 in only eight starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s won three stake races, which include a grade 3 and grade 1 race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His last race scored a win in the Duetoburst stakes (grade 1) where he set a career best mark of 96, winning by over a length.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He is a slow starter but is able to keep alot of fuel in his tank to make a late mad dash.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He should be a contender and may end up paying off some nice mad money!<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

2.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Pirate Treasure\u00a0 <\/SPAN>6-1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Pirate Treasure, in 7 starts, has recorded a record of 1-2-2.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN>Pirate does have some early footing, and should be running near the pace setters early on.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has two races, both at miles, where he has posted an 89 for a speed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This race marks his debut on the turf and I generally do not throw my backing at horses switching surfaces for the first time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019m not making an exception to my rule here\u2026let him run and see what he can do before you back him.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

3.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Copper<\/st1:PlaceName> Canyon<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>7-1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

In the Giants Ack Bonanza, Copper<\/st1:PlaceName> Canyon<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> set a new career speed of 88, finishing third by over 4 strides.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Copper doesn\u2019t show any early speed, so expect him to be in the back half of the field early on.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He does have the ability to reel horses in late in the race, however, his late moves aren\u2019t always well timed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He does draw the experience of the 16-year veteran T. Nugent who has come in the money 43% of his career.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This may help improve Copper\u2019s chances to hit the board.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

4.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Buda Storm\u00a0 <\/SPAN>4-1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Buda\u2019s last two races are interesting, but I wouldn\u2019t put a lot of weight on them.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In his last race, he finished 8th<\/SUP> in a field of 15 (set career mark of 88 for speed), finishing a good 10 lengths back in the Grade 1 race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The race before was a win in a non-graded race, however it was against a field of four.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Both races were run on the dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Buda is being put back on the grass where he seems to excel.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In 5 starts, he\u2019s posted a record of 2-0-2 on the turf.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>On the grass he\u2019s got two thirds in Grade 3 races and a forth in a Grade 1.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>All three graded races boosted large fields.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This race has a moderate size field and I think Buda will benefit in this race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019ll be running near the lead early and should be well suited to walk away with some purse funds.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

5.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Tycoon Wells\u00a0 <\/SPAN>5-2<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Tycoon Wells has been established as the favorite in the field.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His last two races weren\u2019t impressive, finishing 5th<\/SUP> and 8th<\/SUP> in Grade 1 races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s back to the Grade 3 level where he has been competitive.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In September, he finished 2nd<\/SUP> going 8.5f, yielding the lead he had late in the race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In August he won a 7f race and ironically was the 5-2 favorite in that race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019ll be running close to the lead and we may find him to be the leader by the 3rd<\/SUP> call.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s back to the level he has had success making Tycoon a force to contend with.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

6.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>River<\/st1:PlaceType> of Fun<\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place>\u00a0 <\/SPAN>6-1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

River<\/SPAN><\/st1:PlaceType> of Fun<\/st1:PlaceName><\/SPAN><\/st1:place> has won 3 of 8 turf starts coming in the money 5 times.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hitting the board 5 of 8 races isin\u2019t bad, but looking closer, River<\/st1:PlaceType> of Fun<\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place> has 3 stake starts\u2026and has not hit the board in any of those races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Now we look closer\u2026two of the stake starts were on a wet track, where he finished 4th<\/SUP> in both\u2026perhaps he doesn\u2019t like the moisture.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The other stake start was an 8th<\/SUP> place finish in his only graded start (G1), so maybe he was outclassed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Believe it or not this is the smallest field he has faced in his career.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>All of his other races sported fields of 11 up to 20, with half his starts against fields of 17 or more.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>River does like to run on the front end and I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if he bullied his was as the lead.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>For those risk-takers out there, this one may be for you!<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

7.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Proud Ziggie\u00a0 <\/SPAN>8-1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Proud Ziggie has only a maiden race that he competed in at the end of November, winning a 6.5f race by 2 and posting a nice speed of 81 his first time out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He shows nice breeding Proud Citizen x Danzig<\/st1:place> x Tom Rolfe.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I expect this race to record a speed near 90 and I think that Proud will need a couple of races to elevate himself to be competitive at the graded level.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

8.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Mister Cricket\u00a0 <\/SPAN>12-1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

A horse loaded with early speed, Mister Cricket comes in as the long shot in the field.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has been on the board in 6 of his 9 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Stake racing-wise, he has four starts and finished third once. \u00a0<\/SPAN>This is his premier race at the graded level and he will have his work cut out for him.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>For him to win, I believe he will need to develop a good lead early on.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019ll probably need a 3-4 length lead heading into the stretch to beat his foes here.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Several horses in this field will be running close behind him early, and I doubt he\u2019ll build up a large enough lead that they can\u2019t cut into.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Mister Cricket looks best at the allowance level.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

I\u2019m going for a little value here and I think Tobyhanna has a good chance to extend his streak.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019s coming off a career best speed of 96 and will be eating up the grass as he strides down the stretch and will catch the front runners.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Tycoon Wells is back to the G3 level where he has had success in the past.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He\u2019ll put in a good race and will be dangerous here.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

River<\/SPAN><\/st1:PlaceType> of Fun<\/st1:PlaceName><\/SPAN><\/st1:place> intrigues me enough to make him my third choice.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It\u2019s not often that a field of 8 is the smallest field a horse has faced after having 8 starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has a chance to hit the board in this smaller stakes field.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Now\u2026.go get some of those bargain weanies and good luck at the track!<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>
