A field of 20 hopefuls in search of the $150,000 first place check made their way to the starting line in a race that proved to be quite competitive.

Before the start of the two “Glue Factory Specials” there was an announcement that this race would be repeated next year in Las Vegas and that in addition there would be a male and female turf “Glue Factory Special” added. This brough loud cheers from the crowd.

As the horses were brought onto the track a lively crowd cheered their favorites on in the post parade. INCURABLE ROMANTIC(NM) was the early favorite at 9-2, while CHANTILI CHE at 7-1 and JETHRO TULL at 8-1 were getting lots of action as well.

As they broke from the gate BLUMIN BALZAC(NE) a 42-1 shot took the early lead in this encounter who was followed by PLUMBERS LUCK AT 28-1 and DELEWARD DISTRICT AT 13-1 in third place. In fact at the first call 4 horses were within 1 length of the leaderand even the last place horse at this point C DON(NY) was only 5 lengths behind.

BLUMIN BALZAC(NE) continued to show the way at the halfway point of the race much to the surprise of the experts but right on his hip was DELEWARE DISTRICT who kept pressing the pace. PLUMBERS LUCK was already starting to fade at this point but still held on to 3rd place. Amazingly 14 horses at this point was still within 5 lengths of the leader very likely spurred on by the incredible cheering of the crowd when they heard the unexpected fast speed these horses were setting.

Just beyond the halfway point was when DELEWARD DISTRICt, CHANTILI CHE, and INCURABLE ROMANTIC(NM) made their move. DELEWARD DISTRICT took over the lead from BLUMIN BALZAC(NE) and was trying to put away the field however while many of the early leaders had run out of gas others were making major moves. Between the 2nd and stretch calls CHANTILI CHE moved up from 10th place to 2nd, INCURABLE ROMANTIC(NM) moved from 11th to 4th, EIGHT TRACK TAPE(GB) improved from 17th to 12 and MIA SECRETO(LA)moved from 18th to 13th but both were gaining fast.

In the end however DELEWARE DISTRICT had too much and jockey E.N. Tice doggedly determined to make sure the 6 year old brown horse who to this point had only raced 7 times stayed out in front and and won with an impressive speed figure of 81 collecting the winners purse of $150,000 for its owner monopoly3. Those who bet on this horse was thrilled with the $28.70 payday for their $2 bet as well. CHANTILI CHE finished in 2nd pace just 2 1/2 lengths behind while my personal favorite INCURABLE ROMANTIC(NM) TOOK SHOW.

Even with the race for first over there was intrest to see who would have the infamy of finishing last place. The crowds continued cheering loudly trying to cheer these also-rans on. In the end the honor went to EUPHRATES THE 45-1 SHOT who finished almost 27 lengths behind the winner.

In addition INCURABLE ROMANTIC(NM) was claimed in this race. Arizonacub put in the claim for the horse who finished in 3rd place and I wish him future success with this animal who ran a speed figure of 75 in this race. I think this will be a good pickup.

[3

post-7066","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews
["GET
