Trainers have been very keen to test their potential guineas fillies over the same course and distance as the time honoured fillies classic, and this weekend sees a stronger line than the 2 fillies stakes races we have seen here in recent weeks.

1- Preach 7-2. This daughter of Pulpit has won 1 and placed in another of her 3 lifetime appearances to date. She showed nothing on debut in a MSW when 6th of 13, but given an 8wk break she was deadly when next produced winning in the same grade on a wet track. Newracing stepped her up to Stakes grade on the back of that victory, and was rewarded with a very strong 3rd when making up many lengths from the home turn onwards. The big concern is that we dont know how she will go on Turf, and for that reason she cant be tipped with any confidence.

2- Skipped A Beat 4-1; A winner of 3 from 6, and dual Stakes winner. She stepped to a distance greater than 7F for the 1st time last start when she ran 12th in a G1 even in Ireland.Whilst she will find this easier than that, I have a query on her being able to beat these judging by her recent winning times.

3- Josefina 7-2; This daughter of Scat Daddy is the most experienced runner of the field having already graced the starter 7 times. She has only had the one go on the turf and that was her last start when she ran 3rd in this grade to the very talented Jetsetting. The big query with her is whetehr she can run out a strong 1600m. Her best performances have been at less than 7f to date, and based on that I’m going around her this weekend.

4- Disco Lemonade 4-1; I like the way Buffy has brought this filly along, spacing her runs and giving her plenty of time to develop whilst gaining racetrack experience at the same time. She didnt break her maiden until start number 4, when she crushed a MSW field by an ever-widening 4L. She was a narrow winner last time out, but the time was impressive enough to say that she will be a factor here.

5- Sangria 2-1; The favourite is easily the most interesting runner in this event having only started the once and creating a massive impression winning by 4.25L. She is beautifully bred being by Galileo out of a Diesis mare, so you’d expect her to be showing something at this distance and even further in the future. My concern with her is that she beat nothing on debut, the 2nd horse being a 6 start maiden, and whilst she was impressive – was that good enough to take 2-1 here?.

6- Trader Joes 8-1; Daugther of Dubawi boasting a record of 2 wins and a 2nd from her only 3 starts. She was a winner on dirt last time out over the 7F, and she steps to the Mile here for the first time. Whilst she hasnt recored times that you would normally associate with potential Stakes winners, I suspect she is still on the upward spiral here and I’d be wary of discounting her chances.

Very tough race to sum up. Disco Lemonade appeals because she ticks boxes in regards to class, distance, and surface, whilst her rivals have queries in one or more of these areas. No confidence though in what should be a very even race.

[2

post-6957","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
