EM <\/B>looked on the final turn to be repeating his winning move in the Bargain Summer Classic, in which he turned back four of today\u2019s competitors.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Just back of the leaders early, he swept by pace duelers <B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">ST.HAWK(JPN) <\/B>and <B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">VAINEST<\/B> as they began to falter.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>But that was <B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">SPARE KEY(FL)<\/B> on his outside flank, pushing <B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">JOIN\u2019 EM<\/B> hard as they slugged it out at the top of the stretch.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In the end, though, the four-year-old <B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">SPARE KEY(FL)<\/B> pulled away by more than two lengths and avenged his somewhat lackluster performance in the Bargain Summer Classic.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The winner posted a 107 speed to return to his best level, quite lofty for a bargain bred.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The runner-up posted a 105, stamping the top two as the elite of the classic bargain set as the bettors had predicted.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It was well back to the rest of the competitors.<\/P><P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P><P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">QUART LOW(TX)<\/B> attended the tough pace duel and did well to hold on for third, seven lengths behind the place horse.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN><B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">COLONIAL GOLDS(IRE)<\/B> was below his par but came from midpack to grab fourth from the gallant survivor <B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">VAINEST<\/B>, who bested his consecutive eleventh place finishes in this race\u2019s previous two versions.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The biggest surprise to the bettors was <B style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal\">BARE WHIP<\/B>, sent off at 4 to 1, who never got rolling late and settled for sixth with his lowest speed of the year.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The rest of the entrants were behind at all times and never factored.<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sets Down Rival Join&#8217;
