Goldman Sachs entered the Eduardo Jara 2-mile Grade 1 stakes with a 4-race win streak. K’s Araku came into the same race putting her own 5-race win streak on the line. Only one horse would find success in the short field of six.<\/p>\n
K’s Araku bolted from the gate quickly as the 7-2 shot in the race. She was pursued early by 19-1 Rainbows Queue, who has shown early speed in past races. Rainbows Queue didn’t have enough in her to take the lead, and K’s Araku was able to advance to a 4 length lead well before the mile pole. <\/p>\n
Slew of Cash and Goldman Sachs ran together as a pair a good six strides or so behind K’s Araku in the early going, followed Point Break and Randy Breeder, who were well off the lead by the mile marker.<\/p>\n
As the field proceeded down the back stretch for the final time, K’s Araku looked strong, pulling off to a good 6 length lead as Rainbows Queue folded. The pair of Slew of Cash and Goldman Sachs started to make their move heading into the final turn. Point Break and Randy Breeder watched the field from the back end.<\/p>\n
As the field hit the stretch, K’s Araku’s lead was rapidly diminishing as the duo of Slew of Cash and Goldman Sachs dug in hard and were able to catch K’s Araku in mid stretch. Goldman Sachs responded well to Jockey Z. Wango’s urging and lunged ahead of Slew of Cash as K’s Araku ran out of gas.<\/p>\n
At the wire, Goldman Sachs was the best (my second choice) taking the win and paying $4.60. Goldman Sachs was successful and extended her win streak to five straight.<\/p>\n
Slew of Cash (my third choice) officially finished 1 1\/4 lengths back for second. K’s Araku finished 5 back and ended her win streak. K’s Aracku had no problem taking third (my top pick), as the rest of the field slumbered across the line some 25+ lengths back.<\/p>\n
