We entered this feature 2yo race on Saturdfay with 3 undefeated colts and as expected-we left with one. But it was not the result punters predicted with favourite and BTB selection El Is The Best going down narrowly to the Latent Heat colt Latent Ruby. The colt was entering the weekend’s race with 2 previous wins, of which one was at Stakes level, and provided his dam Ruby Doctor with her 3rd Stakes winner from 7 folas to race, and outstanding achievement by the mare and her breeders.
The colt was well away and sharded the lead with El Is The Best for the majority of the race, and it wasnt until late that he got the better of the favourite and went on to score a decisive win in 1:30:4. He had a length to spare over the favourite, who lost no friends with his performance, with a further 3L to Ninzowitsch in 3rd. The run of the race outside of the first 2 was undoubtedly Bartsi Gusse. The son of Savabeel was identified by this reporter as a horse who wouldnt find his best form till he was tested at distances in excess of the weekends 7.5f, and this was clearly displayed as he hit the line like a stayer with a good future.
