Five two-year-old colts will face off against each other in the DON FOR NINER Bonanza. The race is 5 1\/2 furlongs on the firm turf, and the purse is $45,000.<\/P>

1 (3\/1) – Obxfarms <\/I>sends out RIDE KID RIDE (KY)<\/B>, who came in second, third, and then first in three Maiden Special Weight races. In his first race in late May, he put up a remarkable 74 speed figure, but unfortunately hasn’t been able to duplicate that effort. He ran considerably slower when he broke his maiden in August. RIDE KID RIDE just needs to regain his May form to be competitive here.<\/P>

2 (7\/2) – EMPTY CAGE (SAF) <\/B>broke his maiden first time out and moved right into stakes company from there. He’s never won a race besides his maiden, but he’s never finished worst than fourth. He finished second in two listed stakes races in a row. The 76 he ran in his most recent race – the KEY RUSH Memorial – is especially worth noting. Saturday’s race will be a test of whether that impressive race was an aberration or if he’s a horse who’s maturing and improving.<\/P><\/B>

3 (9\/2) – GUNGAREE (AUS) <\/B>doesn’t have the most impressive speed figures, but he does have a stakes victory under his belt. The 61 he ran in the PHARETA’S WISH Stakes might be deceptive, as the victory was an easy one and he probably wasn’t going full out. Still, he’ll need to show more talent than he has already if he wants to challenge for the win.<\/P>

4 (4\/5) – At first glance, favorite FINAL EXAM (KY)<\/B> seems to be a step above the rest of the field, routinely running speed figures in the 70s rather than the 60s. Owner\/trainer maltese2<\/I> tries him in this listed stakes race after finding Grade III company to be a little beyond his grasp in two successive tries. FINAL EXAM has an impressive victory in a NW2L allowance race on his resume – he ran a benchmark 80 speed figure there, something no other horse in this race has achieved. The main question here is the surface, as FINAL EXAM has never run on the turf before.<\/P>

5 (7\/1) – PATRIOTIC FIRE (KY)<\/B> is the longest shot on the board. He has a win and a second in Maiden Special Weight races, but the competition wasn’t particularly strong there. Owner\/trainer sandstone<\/I> hopes that PATRIOTIC FIRE will improve on the turf, a surface on which he’s never raced.<\/P><\/FONT><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
