A competitive field of 13 runners are set to battle, when they face the Starter here Saturday, in the 11th running of the $125,000 Grade III He Keeps Going Going Stakes. The race, for 4yr. olds, is to be contested over a grueling 1 mile and 5\/8ths on the Dirt Course, and is carded as the 16th and final race on the program. We are expecting a large crowd to be on hand Saturday, as the Weatherman has confirmed the 0% chance of rain and is calling for sunshine with partly cloudy skies in the morning, but clearing by race time. On first glance, the race appears to be shaping up as a study of “PACE” and it will be very interesting to see just how it will all be played out. In the meantime lets take a closer look at the combatants…<\/p>\n

This multiple stakes winning and Grade I placed son of DEHERE and winner of nearly half a million dallars has been consistantly facing stiffer compitition, with better results. He should be leading the charge of late runners as the horses straighten out and head for home. A big chance if he has his running shoes laced-up today!!<\/p>\n

My first thought when you read the name is, that you have to admire somebody(well in this case a horse) who still believes in the power of the almighty dollar. Aside from his fiscal view point, this lightly raced and well-bred son of NEWFOUNDLAND has yet to greet the photographer while racing in stakes compitition and has never attempted 13 furlongs before, the distance that he will be required to cover today. In his last start the 12 furlong Grade I Starlight, he was shuffled back to last early, and was content to trail the rest of the field all the way down the backside, finally making contact with the field going into the far turn. Searching for room at the rail, and running out of options, he was eventually forced to pull up and unleash his run on the outside as they turned for home, Passing 11 horses from the top of the stretch to the wire, he still fell short, beaten 7 lengths. The good news is that he wont have quite the class disadvantage to overcome or have to contend with all the traffic today, that he encountered in his last start, when he finally does make his run.<\/p>\n

This is the story that we all replay in our heads when we are dreaming of glory. it is David & Goliath, the 69′ Mets and cashing a winning ticket on a 99-1 shot all rolled into one. I am not sure that he can win it all, but i am sure, willing to admit it or not, that many will be hoping that he can. he gives the average guy hope that maybe, just maybe one day that can be me. A WINNER ALREADY IN MY BOOK, REGARDLESS OF WHERE HE FINISHES!!<\/p>\n

SHOULD BE IN THE HUNT!<\/p>\n

The first of his career!! The downside is can he go the distance? His late running style won’t hurt his chances today, but having never run more than 10f, leaves a big question mark?? Will he have the kick at the end when he needs it? If nothing else a “horse to watch” in the future!<\/p>\n

In review, the race breaks down into 3 well defined groups, The Rabbits (INSIDE THE MACHINE and BURNRUBBERONME), being tracked by the hounds (PAUL THE APOSTLE, FEARLESS FLASH, SPECIAL OFFER, A.P. PRINCESS and FACE MY DEMONS) and then followed by the Hunters (everyone else) who are waiting to pick off the tired game as they run for home. A “classic” story in the making….
