The race has turned out a very contentious field of ten who also feel their mares are pointing in the right direction.

The connection of Jubuk Annoy realize that it will take a huge effort to take this important Grade/Group 1 if they have aspirations to dethrone champion War For The Gold as the end of the year staying champion. I caught up thursday with the connections of Jubuk Annoy, stable chatham 03 who had a very serious demeanor while looking on as jockey B Scott jogged by with a tight hold on Jabuk Annoy as he finished up his morning work. We really don’t need to tighten the screws on her, she’s ready explained chatham. I asked if he was a little anxious when he saw that the race turned up so contentious with zkingab 25 champion rolling into town. He was very excited to see how Jabuk Annoy stacked up against the two time divisional champion. I have great admiration for what that mare has accomplished. zkingab 25 has done a masterful job of pushing the buttons on her at the right times. That is why when it’s all said and done he will be a HOF trainer. The toughest thing to do is to keep it going. It’s got to be a perfect storm each and everyday to keep them on the track. That is why you can’t take any of these horses lightly. If we are going to win this race we will have to go through War For Gold. I must reiterate, that we all must go through War For Gold. Don’t count out Only Hearts and Trompettia, they both are good enough to have their number hung. /

Only Hearts (GB) mare pocahontas grade 1 winner rbokie 5-1

This mare 5 yo mare has really hit her stride as of late taking the grade1 Desert Lady Stayer back in March when she shortened from 16F to 14F which is today’s distance. pocahontas has again asked rider rbokie to guide her around the track. Her last four races have all been graded with wins in the grade/group 1 Desert Lady Stayer and the GR 3 Eagle Handicap. She also hit the board in the other two. This Stalker/Closer daughter of New Approach (IRE) out of a Sunday Silence mare would probably benefit from a little pace to run out. She may be able to slow it down up front to get a check but she has never faced the likes of these. She has won at 14F going wire to wire against Alw horses. Big ask in my opinion.

3. Trompettia mare koza GR 2 winner Gr1 pl J Sands 7-1

This five yr old mare of Empire Maker out of champion sprint mare Angel’s Trumpets, daughter of Distorted Humor. This mare is has been a runner-up in multiple Gr1 races 14F or longer. This mare ran second to Jubuk Annoy in 2022 addition of the Little Rock Stayer GR1. I think this horse has a nice square price and should be in the thick of it late. With 17 starts under her belt her last two have been her best. Winning five of her last seven races with her last two races being stakes. Her last was a 16F Gr 2 where she ran up front in a pack of three hanging in to place on the track rated sloppy. I look for her to take a shot tracking Carina Alexandra and trying to hold off the stalker/closers who will come to them late. I would like to see 10-1 on this mare but she’s got a shot.

5. Ar Fifteen Tx mare deyoto 7 Stk PL Turf W Desantis 17-1

This Scratch bred daughter of Camelot (GB) out of a Kris S mare has set sight on doing several things that she has yet to do. Win her first race on the dirt course. That’s tough when her class and breeding says stick to turf. She also would probably fair better with more distance. She has to much to overcome with this group.

6. Jabuk Annoy mare chatham 03 Multi Gr1 winner B Scott 7/2

Daughter of multi faceted sire Tapit out of Stks winning Graded place mare Outback Annoy, daughter of Candy Ride. This mare is the defending race champ who may not be the favorite come post time. Multi Division champion War For Gold will challenge for the right to be called race favorite with her extensive catalog of achievements. In my opinion it may make too deep of a run to win this race at 14F. She’s a Very tough horse who is capable of great things if the race plays into her deep closing ability.

7. Pekerman Time mare vinotinto Stks winner Gr pl J Shelden 9/1

This five year old scratch bred mare from sire Arrogate and broodmare sire Deputy Minister is just starting to scratch the surface. He hit the board in the Grade 1 Empire Stayer last winter and recently 2nd off a layoff he won a overnight stake at 14F. Still would like to see 12-1 to 15-1 but has a chance to get a check off a career best. OA Haack seems to have been his regular rider and he’s chose not to fly in. It’s really hard to go against somebody so solid at 4-1…….. She last ran in a 100K stk finishing 4th after reeling off 4 wins in his last 5 races. She could possibly turn the corner in the near future with a little more seasoning. Needs to get that stakes race before hunting Grade ones against monsters.

My Race Pics

1st win: War For The Gold

I really think that she a special animal at a very hard price to pass on. She may not be the same horse later in the year but she fresh and right now I give her the nod in a tight one.

2nd place: Jabuk Annoy

Jabuk Annoy is the real deal and has a great chance to defend her title in the Little Rock. I just like War For The God a little better at 14F.

3rd show: Trompettia

Trompettia is very consistent and has that big closing run that wins races like these but she’s just a touch below the first two at this distance in my opinion.

Longshot: Lay The Blame

Lay The Blame is the true longshot who has a shot to hit the board at a price.
