Several recognizable trainers take a shot at the 50k purse with some terrific colts. Regal breedings light up the program from Storm Cat to A.P Indy but they are challenged by a few sired by horses you may never have heard of before. I’d say this race is a classic advertisement for simsters to use some of the little used sires. Let’s take a closer look.

1 127795 POWER FORWARD(GB) dokki3 – K Friar 6/1

The Dokki Stables sends this powerscourt 4 year old colt straight from Illionois. Dokki is unaffiliated with a residency in 11 of 12 stables including dokki3. Power Forward last won in Athens in February at this distance. This colt has run on off tracks 4 times and has victories in 3 of those tries. With 8 total victories and 7 of 17 on turf, this colt has rightfully drawn the track’s best jockey. He has posted speed lately of +101 in 6 of 8 races. Returned from overseas in May to run in the grade 3 Hyperactive Handicapp in which he finished 6th. This is his first try in Minnesota, which could definitely hurt.

2 93415 FREDDY DUDE AH(IRE) golfteam2 – N Brim 9/1

The Golfteam Stables have set up this Intikhab 6 year old to run in his first stakes race since November. In 46 career races, this veteran has 6 wins, but perhaps it is telling that only 1 has come on turf. His last race was a solid turf win in Illionois in an allowance race. Unbelievabley this colt has never visited the majestic gardens in Minnesota but a veteran like this colt who has been all over the country and back may not need the practice.

3 99882 NORTHERN DIVA(AUS) kevoman2 – K Bowen 10/1

It’s Coolk Stables in the third spot representing the EAAA Racing Residency with this five year old horse by Redoute’s Choice. The ‘Diva’ has an amazing 14 wins in 33 turf tries. He has 3 off track victories and has posted speeds up to 111 at similar distances recently. Although he loves to win, the ‘Diva’ actually hasn’t won a stakes race since 2006 and has even been through the claiming ranks as recently as september of 2006. His best is good enough here especially if he can match those speed numbers from late last year. Northern Diva hasn’t been on these hallowed grounds since his second career race in 2005 whic was on the dirt. Bowen is the jockey that a horse like this wants in a spot like this.

4 85583 DESPOT(KY) pr – D Sanford 10/1

What does Kf Stables of the Northwest Racing Circuit do when he discovers his prized dirt horse actually like the grass? Well he ships him to america of course! That’s what happened early this year when this Ghostzapper son decided to win two of three grass tries. He arrived in California in April but has shut off the board since. With two wins in eight tries on the lawn, zero off track victories, and never having run on the Supertoy Lawn, the cards are stacked against him. D Sanford takes on teh challenge and his 10% WP this season makes me rethink discounting despot’s chances.

5 68317 RIVER LODGE(IRE) pacer – B Sessions 5/1

It is true that they grow them sturdy in Ireland and this Grand Lodge 7 year old is no exception. The Chayely A farms run by techranger an Ireland stalwart have amassed 14 turf wins with this veteran. Since coming to America in October of 2006, River Lodge has won six times. In all that time, however, he has never run in Minnesota and has never won on an off track. While clearly one of the favorites on the board; there may be as much not to like abot him as there is to like. I would toss him completely if not for the name techranger.

6 83935 CHATEAU ROCKER chateau2 – C Boothroy 9/1

Everyone’s favorite king, kirby, tried to win the 10th race feature again this week. This time, however, the OJAI VALLEY STABLES are representing the Northwest Racing Circuit. This 6 year old by Rock Slide is two races away fro posting an impressive 108 speed in a 7.5 furlong stakes in North Dakota. He is also only three races removed from a 106 speed effort in the 7.5 furlong Dandy’s Ham here in Minnesota. Kirby has upgraded his jockey to Billy Sessions this time around. Don’t be mistaken, experience over this turf counts here in Minnesota. Of course the 9 career wins and the seemingly sharp form help also.

7 100343 LEAD US UP reaper519 – B Craver 12/1

Reaper519 is an unaffiliated stable who is very welcome to come check out the Minnesota Residency, where he could have been up for a prize just by running in this race had he already joined the residency. This Tapit 5 year old light grey horse was purchased in the auction not too long ago for $250,000. That is a steep sum to pay if you don’t think this horse can run in stakes events. Reaper519 did think Lead us Up could compete in stakes level company, and he was correct. In two races Lead us Up has a show and a win to his credit. His last race in Illionois was his first in America. Reaper519 smartly brought him to Minnesota as soon as he could to showcase this fine animal to the Minnesota crazies. With 5 career wins, all on turf – and one on an off surface – This one is an outsider here with a severe upside and a nice price.

8 114581 SHY GENERAL(AUS) snappa3 – A Scott 6/1

The Snappa Racing Syndicate of the EAAA Racing Group sends the impressive 4 year old by General Nediym to Minnesota for a hopeful repeat of a victory in November of 2007. Shy General won an allowance that day over this track at this distance. He has 7 career wins and has been in the money in all four off track tries. Little used jockey Alan Scott gets the mount today.

9 19904 JAKAROO STORM jason607 – E R Cothill 9/2

Another resident, Fabman, is here with a big chance to win the 10th Race feature, but this 6 year old by Storm Cat from Fabman Farms is actually representing the Northwest Racing Circuit. He has 8 career turf wins including several at this distance. In February, Jakaroo Storm graced the Minnesota fans with a 109 show in the Pharivor Challenge. He looks to be rounding back into form with a big run in Colorado last time out. ER Cothill, member of the Minnesota Jockey Guild, gets the ride on this handsome chestnut horse.

10 65162 CRIMINAL MIND(KY) claymore – A Beasley 16/1

The Galileo Stables, possibley the best operation in the sim, represents the fledgling Blazing Saddles residency. The Empire Maker 4 year old is one of the long shots here, but certainly has a significant chance here. In his three off track tries he’s won, placed, and posted a 102 for 4th place. Although he has limited stakes experience and no stakes wins, and although he has never run this course before, one needs to respect the 17% winning percentage in over 5k races by Galileo. Aaron Beasley is the jockey here. Certainly this one needs to be included in your exotics.

11 126533 INDY MAGPIE(KY) willypike – O Stinson 35/1

This 4 year old colt by A.P. Indy runs for willypike forthe very first time today. Willypike, who also owns the stable thepontif, is unaffiliated with any residency. Recruitment materials from Minnesota have been placed in his rented owners box, and a tab paid for by the residency has been opened for him at the Johnno Pub. This horse was claimed for 10k in June and looks to be in over his head here. He has 1 win in 7 tries on turf and has primarily been running on dirt throughout his recent career. He has liked off dirt courses and this distance in his career so if it can translate to off turf, then Indy Magpie won’t be left behind. Very early in his career he did seem to like the grass better. This will be his first time around this lawn and he will have THE O Stinson on the saddle.

12 95570 FANTASTIC KRIS 3rdtry – J Johnson 7/1

The familiar Clement-Migliore Stables aka mig (mig call home – your missed at Minnesota) represents the GR Simsters today with this son of Fantastic Light. With superior off turf form – 10 wins in 16 tries – and over a half million in purse money won, anyone who discounts this horse should have his head examined. He won as recently as May – on an off turf in Conneticut- this horse visits thes lush lawns for the first time since February of 2006, a 4th place stakes effort. My money says that this one will like the conditions.

——————————————————————————–

Picks
Win: Fantastic Kris
Place: Jakaroo Storm
Show: Criminal Mind

What’s Happening in Minnesota?

With equinics clearly in our sights, the residents are busy nominating their best horses. It certainly will be a difficult decision in many of the races. Jrodneyg won the latest addition of No Mercy the contest where you try and pick better horses in a random race than the player your playing that week. The next Sire Series has been planned out and sign – up has begun. Please see our message board for more details. After our residents have had some time to breed a Came Home 3 year old, this contest will be open to anyone who is willing to support the residency during the length of the contest. Chuckrock and Marmac remain tied at the top of the Homebred Contest, unable to score points recently leaving the door open for cothill and the rest of the pack. Speaking of Cothill, he recently jumped in front of the Mountains of Money contest.

[2

post-6297","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
