A huge field of 14 runners for the Strand Broke in Victoria. This G1 race is over 7 furlongs on the turf and some classy runners here. We are in for a great race – have a look over a few of these and see which you fancy to back in on the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IN ONE PIECE Out of Snitzel x War Front x Galileo (IRE), like many in this race is from well known sires and loves the turf. Has really come into some nice form in its last 4 races over the previous 6 months which a high of 116 speed rating in his latest outing. Looked like was wanting more room to run out last two times however finishes strongly and should be figuring in the first three across the line. In form – good distance – hard to go past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n PERIL THE FIRST<\/strong> Great return on his runs to date. Has only finished worse than 2nd placing once out of 12 runs and that was just before the owner in golfteam6 decided to geld him. Which has produced a very realiable and improvement in his 3 runs since. Back at G1 level after a successful win in the G3 Django Cup in April. Has shown a good turn of speed over 7 furlongs with his highest being 117 rating. Another with a huge chance of getting success here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n GRAF VON SPEE<\/strong> Has the highest career earnings in the field with 9 wins out of 20 outings. One of those wins was at G2 level only 2 races back with his last outing a very strong 2nd place run in the G1 Sand Castle Turf Sprint over 6 furlongs. This is longer here and probably a very small question mark on the distance as has had a lot of success up to the 6 \/ 6.5 furlong mark. This might be just a little long however time will tell and the bookies have him at 7\/1 so one of the favourites here on the track. Very impressive record to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ALL MY MISTAKES This is his maiden G1 outing today for this one out of All Too Hard (AUS) x Snitzel x Shamardal. Don’t let that put you off however as his speed rating in his last outing was seriously impressive at 118 over 7.5 furlongs. This one has some real speed in him and he can take this out today if he repeats that. 7 wins out of 14 outings is a great record to date so watch for him in the straight. Likes to come from the rear and finish strongly – make no mistakes here, exciting one to watch if you have a ticket on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n NATHANIEL HAWTHORN<\/strong> In good form with 3 wins out of 6 outings to date. One of those wins was a speed rated 117 over 7 furlongs in the G3 Sumo Sprint. Can’t go past that for speed and class! Has found it hard to finish strongly in his last two races but definitely has shown that he can run this length and speed if needed. Just needs to do it today to get a coveted G1 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n INFERNU Is the most experienced in this field with 33 races to date coming away with 7 wins and a nice packet of just under $300k. Has raced on both dirt and turf surfaces with relatively equal results to be honest. Over time has preferred the turf and this distance is about his best. Will find this a little harder being a G1 but is proven at good speed in the past. One of the outsiders at 19\/1 but still a chance if he has his best day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n DIABOLICAL TALONS Diabolically fast and amazingly was claimed only 2 outings back with an impressive last outing for the new owner with a closing finish across 6 furlongs in the G1 Sydney Sprint. Extra distance here which he will surely love given he has won at this distance and this class before. At 12\/1 wow!! Seriously good odds for what he can produce – should be there at the end – a definite backing from me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n TWO SHOT EXPLOSIVE In super strong and consistent form with placings and wins littered over his last few outings at both allowance and stakes level. Has deserved this step to this class and it will be a step up but looks like he can handle it too. Great speed last time out and looks the goods to challenge a few here and the bookies think so too giving him the favourite tag with 5\/1 odds. Form shows this one will run well – hard to go past consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n RYANS KEEPING Stepping up from what is mainly a stellar career at Allowance racing. Has raced at G3 level before for a well run and strongly finished third placing across this distance. This will prove tougher against this field but has shown great speed at times. Coming off a good win too with a speed rating of 108. Love the roan colouring and hope this 4yo colt can do well here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n U BUCC O Another of the favourites at 7\/1 odds and why not when this gelding’s last run was 117sp over 7.5 furlongs in the Stormborn Turf special for a third place finish. Was wanting more distance last time out so will have to start his run earlier to make sure he crosses the line at the right time. Maiden try out at G1 level and it’s going to be a great finish and result if he runs like he has in his last two outings. May want more distance but will see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FRANKEL’S SHAM Well named after his sires being from Frankel (GB) x Shamardal x Sepoy. Really likes this turf surface and has performed well at Stakes level with a win November last year across this distance on a good track. Will need a good start and place in the race to finish in the placings and doesnt want to get too caught up when making his run. Outside chance in this field you would think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n AHEAD OF THE TIMES Succesfully racing on both dirt and turf but the preference is turf with the results and career earnings also pointing that way. Great speed last time and got a well placed 2nd in the Insenced Turf sprint stakes race. This will be much harder but does bring that speed into it and the shorter distance will only suit this colt. Will need to be ahead of the field and not just the times coming into the straight to take this out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CENTENARY COURSE Really great record with 10 wins out of 19 outings. Think about that – thats a win every 2nd time he runs out!! Most of those wins have been at allowance racing early on in his career with his latest wins coming in Stakes and G2 company. Well deserved outing here at G1 level especially with his most recent run a third place finish across 6 furlongs. Should do well today!<\/p>\n\n\n\n WORLD OF BLUE Loves the off tracks this one with 6 of those 9 wins coming on a good or yielding surface. Has raced on both dirt and turf with the better results and earnings on the turf – runs well and finishes strongly too no matter the distance although looks like more distance to run out and close will only help this chestnut horse.
