Db is a long-time Simulated Sports player whose biggest claim to fame is that he has been playing Simulated Sports for a very long time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has sporadically regaled us with his\u2026interesting (?) commentary through the years in the Black Type Bugler, on the Message Board, and in the Chat Room\u2026often unsolicited and oblivious to the target audience, or lack thereof.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>True to form, he\u2019s done it again, this time in ultimate fashion.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Tough call, but if you go by frequency, the answer would be \u201cfrijoles negros\u201d in their various forms and incarnations.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Mexican food would be a broader answer.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I did develop a sort of tradition \/ superstition that whenever I had a \u2018big score\u2019 at the racetrack, I would purchase an order of nachos.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u201cBig score\u201d eventually devolved into \u201ccashing a ticket that put me ahead for the day\u201d.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Otherwise I wouldn\u2019t have eaten nachos quite as frequently.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Even though I don\u2019t attend the races much anymore, the ordering of nachos remains synonymous with a celebratory mood (at least in my little universe).<\/P>

I have neither at the moment, but have had one or both in the past.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>City living kind of precludes me from housing large animals, and I despise Chihuahuas<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>, so \u201ccat\u201d is probably the answer, if pressed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Living in Chicago, and enjoying Mexican and Asian food, there have been occasions where I honestly questioned the genus\/species of the meat source of various burritos and \u2018authentic\u2019 regional cuisines\u2026where \u2018beef\u2019 may be considered a luxury.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Wow- I never really thought about myself that intently to see if I have a \u2018hobby\u2019.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I suppose I keep abreast of American politics, international cinema, and human rights issues.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I am becoming a bicyclist, and I like experimental theatre, although 2 years ago I would have told you I hate the theatre.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I am evolving.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This game used to be the biggest hobby of mine, but I suppose those things change, as well.<\/P>

The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, by Junot Diaz.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I think some of the SIM geek community would really get a kick out of this one, for the language and context, if not the characters and narrative.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I am currently reading \u201cThe Audacity of Hope\u201d by Barack Obama, which is no great shakes, but gives you an idea of how this guy thinks and approaches problem solving, which is kind of nice.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>At least if a politician is going to lie to us, we can get an idea of WHY he or she has lied, and what the thought process was that led to that decision.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>So far, it appears no wars, occupations, disasters, or deaths have taken place based on Obama\u2019s choice fibs.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Which is more than we can say for past and current commanders-in-chief.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>But I suppose there is still time\u2026<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/STRONG><\/P>

If you were stuck in a hospital room for 6 months and could chose one person, past or present, to be in the bed next to you – who would it be?<\/STRONG>\u00a0 <\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

This question would produce a different answer for each interval if it were 6 minutes, 6 days, or 6 weeks.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>But 6 months is a really long time, so most of my heros and I would probably run out of things to say well before that time elapsed.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I would want to choose someone whom I would not regret a minute of the time spent together, since time is precious, and if I am stuck in the hospital that long, there\u2019s a good chance that we\u2019re not doing so well.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019d never wish that on anyone.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I think the clear choice for me would be to spend the time with my lovely wife, Luciana.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Yeah, she\u2019s the only choice.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/STRONG><\/P>

If you were to take a day trip in your area – where would you go?<\/STRONG>\u00a0 I recently took a day trip to Milwaukee<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, and while it was pleasant, I don\u2019t think that would be my next choice.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019d go to Western Michigan<\/st1:place> and spend some time on the beach, exploring sand dunes, hiking through the woods, and topping off the evening with dinner and a few regional microbrews.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>My wife can drive us home J<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

I think there is a little bit of latent frustration with how gameplay has evolved, not necessarily the programming or the structure itself, but what the measure of success has become (however subjective), and the relative means required to be effective in that pursuit.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The elusive \u2018re-write\u2019, and its myriad adjustments and additions to gameplay, such as residency-controlled tracks, races run daily, and statebred competition, were a serious carrot being dangled before my watering eyes.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>As the fervor for those unrealized changes fades with time, so does the excitement for the game itself.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I seriously could not have envisioned a time where I might step away from the entry-box, until this week.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Like all things, I\u2019ll reserve the right to change my mind, rethink my positions, and reclaim my rightful places in the echelon of SIM history for longevity and mediocrity.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Winnett(Anna) might inherit a boatload of my runners if Squirrel\u2019s Solar Song pulls off the unlikely Breeders Bowl Three-Peat, the payoff of an ill-advised wager I made in the chat room.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019m sure she will hunt me down with a court order and a SWAT team if necessary, despite Tracy<\/st1:City><\/st1:place>\u2019s inclinations to throw the race on my behalf.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>My steeds can take a good long rest, and hopefully mature without the wear-and-tear of monthly racing and meddlesome training tactics from a disheartened trainer.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019ll get to find out what it\u2019s like to have a life outside the home on Saturday mornings, and use the computer for less obsessive-compulsive endeavors (well, some of them, at least.)\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Until then, I\u2019ll be saving those passwords.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>
