OUTPLAN, OUTRIDE, OUTRACE<\/strong>! – The Third Immunity Race<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a Crazy week in Down Under Racing\u2019s Survivor Race Series, with our races being bid races we welcome outsiders to come and cause some mayhem and that is exactly what happened this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rules for Survivor<\/a> The Scoresheet for Survivor<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 8 survivors remaining in the hot days and freezing nights of the Dubai Desert, this week the camp was invaded by 13 outsiders, so for the first time the race split. The rules as set down for survivor catered for this eventuality, and now the results will be decided on the Best and Worst SP\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With original race a an Open 3yo MSW over a mile due to run at 13:00 we found that of the 8 survivors only Johnno and Andrew had drawn in against 9 outsiders. After the race we found Johnno breathing a sigh of relief as his SP was nothing brilliant and he finished 6th<\/sup> and Andrew was a mere length back in 7th<\/sup> with an SP of 83.571.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OUTPLAN: <\/strong>My planning for this race was meticulous, I spent hours searching for the right horse to help me survive. Unfortunately the right horse just didn\u2019t seem to be residing in my stables, the best I could find was an early 3 year old I bred in January who had 2 starts under his belt 1 on dirt and last start on Grass, both utter failures with low 70\u2019s as his SP\u2019s. He also had never raced further than 1100 metres (5.5 furlongs). This is where more planning and scheming was required and with 2 hours before cut off time \u2013 I PLAYED MY IDOL!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OUTRIDE OUTRACE: <\/strong>For the second time in 3 races Mat (lindsypark) takes this title, dropping \u201cBULLOCK BEACH\u201d<\/em> to the tail of the field and riding him cold until the 700 metre mark where he took off to run over the field down the straight. Kevin (selurnivek) tried to lead all the way with his \u201cJUSTIQUIST\u201d <\/em>but was outridden and outraced by the winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the split race we had 4 outsiders but they played very little part in what turned out to be a thrilling race for lowest SP among the survivors. One ran 3rd<\/sup> and the other three filled the 1 2 and 3 placings at the bottom end of the race. With Kevin and Mat fighting out the top 2 places the remaining 4 survivors Linton, Simon, Magoo and Kim were left to see if they could at least beat Andrew\u2019s SP from the 1st<\/sup> race. Magoo very quickly showed out and pulled away from the other 3, and Linton\u2019s horse as quickly dropped back and was clearly going to be last of the four. However, they were also aware that the idol was in play. Kim\u2019s (rasmus) 1st<\/sup> starter \u201cDUR TAKE CHARGE\u201d <\/em>(Bred especially for this race) and Simon\u2019s (groupies) \u201cNAT ON THE MAT\u201d <\/em>were left to fight it out. With Kim\u2019s horse weakening rapidly and Simon\u2019s only plodding along it would be a close finish. In the end DUR TAKE CHARGE crossed the line a \u00bc length clear of Simon\u2019s horse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final result\u2019s were in a clear slowest was Linton\u2019s horse \u201cA FLEET OF KINGS\u201d <\/em>finishing 7th<\/sup> with an SP of 79.618, but he was saved by the judicious playing of his idol. Everyone waited with bated breath the times were in Kim\u2019s horse 5th<\/sup> with 84.945 Simon\u2019s 6th<\/sup> and an 84.544, which unfortunately for Andrew meant he was eliminated and becomes the 3rd<\/sup> member of our Jury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
