We are looking at the ANSETT Memorial Stakes. The race is named for Aussie bred Ansett who was a stakes winning Flying Spur offspring. This six furlong Stakes for 2 year old fillies and mares will be run on the dirt course which has been sizzling lately. This $55,000 stakes has a small field but could be interesting as it is really evenly matched. Lets take a look:

#1 WALLY’S DEHERE trainer – doa, ( 2/1), Jockey – V. Webb (23%), Avg Sp # (79.7)
Four races and four in the money for this Dehere filly out of Wally’s Prospect. She is already a stakes winner and has won two of the past three with very consistent times. She stretched out to eight furlongs last time out but has dropped back to the sprints where she looks more comfortable. It remains to be seen whether the 8 furlong jaunt did her good or wore her out. I’m sure with Webb in the stirrups he can coax a good race out of her.

#2 STAGECOACH DREAM trainer – cloudninefarm, ( 3/1), Jockey – M. Hamm (8%), Avg Sp # (76.2)
This Phone Trick filly out of Their Girlfriend won her first Stakes last time out but with only a four horse field. She has now won two in a row and looks like she has learned how to finish. Her time last out wasn’t great but she eased up at the wire with a five length lead down the stretch. She is developing nicely and seems to like this distance.

#3 BARB’S DEHERE trainer – jakematt1, ( 5/2), Jockey – M. Mickson (15%), Avg Sp # (76.7)
I’m sure that Dehere is standing somewhere in his stall and smiling that he has two offspring in this Stakes race. This brown beauty is out of broodmare Sister Pro. She has run five times and never finished worse than second though there is only one win and no Stakes races in that record. She has improved each and every time out and keeps stretching a bit to longer distances. Can she improve again against this field?

#4 STORM THE QUEEN trainer – daqt2, ( 3/1), Jockey – H Wheatley (11%), Avg Sp # (73.2)
This Storm Cat out of Queen Nine filly has run two stakes races but never finished better than 4th. She is moving down a bit from 7 furlongs and may do better with even a little less ground to cover. She has shown improvement on each dirt race but needs to make a pretty good jump here to compete. It may take a little while before this filly shows her true colors.

#5 BARB’S CHANGE trainer jakematt1, ( 6/1), Jockey – F. Raish (9%), Avg Sp # (71.0)
Trainer Jakematt1’s second entry in this race is a Changeintheweather filly out of Cat Icing. Unlike her stable mate, Barb’s Dehere she has previously run in a stakes race but finished a disappointing 6th nearly 9 lengths behind the leader. That was last time out and though she pulled out a maiden win, she has only run better than a 67 speed figure one time and doesn’t look ready for Prime Time against this group.

Dehere, standing at stud will have a big smile as I choose both of his daughters in the race to finish in the money. I believe that BARB’S DEHERE will improve enough to grab third behind STAGECOACH DREAM. Dehere’s other Daughter will be smiling at Dad from the winners circle as WALLY’S DEHERE beats them all to the wire.

Good luck to all runners!

Paz

[2

post-616","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
