Irish Mandolin(IRE)<\/b> kept the favorite\u2019s jinx alive, romping to a two and three quarter length vvictory in this week\u2019s Crevis En La Burgs(IRE) Stakes. The joint second favorite colt notched his second career stakes victory in back to back outings, posting a career best 103.2 speed number while doing it. That speed also sets a new benchmark for this annual event, easily eclipsing the old mark of 100.5 set back in the 2005 running. The victory earned him his photo on his profile page, taking his career earnings to the $106300 mark in his six career starts. The long distance stakes win also catapults him into the top 50 in the three year old Long Turf division, taking him to a new ranking of 44 after starting the day at a 199 ranking. Handicappers still need to keep their day jobs after this one, but we\u2019ve seen worse payouts in recent week\u2019s. The winner paid $9.70 $5.00 $3.70 across the board. On the exotics front, we had a $16.80 payout in the exacta, and a somewhat more satisfying $64.80 in the trifecta.<\/p>\n

He ran away from the field, and though race favorite Big Wind Blowing(IRE) <\/b>tried to press him from just off the pace, he couldn\u2019t gain any ground, settling for second after a workmanlike outing where he neither gained or lost much ground throughout, showing some decent stamina in this longer race. Not So Cheap(KY)<\/b> finished third, mostly by virtue of simply outlasting the fading front runners, seven lengths out at the wire.<\/p>\n
