Never has been worse than second he has 3 wins and 2 seconds one of which was on dirt. His most impressive race came last time out in his first stakes attempt where he won by a head going wire to wire. The shorter distance will be good as he posted a solid 98 speed in his last race but almost got caught. (23/1) Tuff Bailey – Mig- (Reset (aus) X Accordion (Ire) – Since going to auction this 3 year old colt has improved nicely hitting 8 for 8 on the board in turf sprint stakes. in his last start in the Clique Bug Handicap where he covered 6 furlongs with a 88 speed to finish second by only a length. His best start to date was also over 6 furlongs in a stakes race where he finished 2nd by a nose with a 92 speed. (21/1) Barb’s Royale – Leo3 – (Royal Academy X General Meeting) A winner of half of his starts this colt Started his career off well breaking his maiden at first asking and then winning a stakes in his second start. He will be happy with the distance here, he loves 5.5 and 6 furlong races 6.5 seems to be a bit too long for him. Though in his last race he posted a 90 to win covering 6.5 furlongs. But he has shown preference for shorter so if that’s what he can do there he will be very happy with this race.

4. (7/1) Basestealer – Yunkai – (Distorted Humor x Giant’s Causeway) This colt made his first run on dirt where he finished 3rd. Next start he broke his maiden on the turf and has been there ever since. With impressive wins in allowances and stakes the 3 graded attempts have shown to be this colt’s only weakness finishing at best 5th by 4 lengths. Though that was at a mile in his last start he was shortened back up to sprints and posted a 100 to finish second at 7 furlongs. Proving he much preferred the shorter distance. Hopefully the shorter distance in combination with the graded race will prove a successful venture for this colt.

5. (4/1) Clarity Through Smoke – Lawdro – (Theatrical X Grand Slam) This speedy youngster has broken 100 twice and both times in March. (12/1) Royal Homecoming – Conman3 – (Royal Academy x Came Home) another solid colt who has been off the board once in 9 starts where he finished 4th. He went on a 3 race winning streak only to be broken last out going 6 furlongs with his career best speed of 96. He looks good and continues to improve but even though his speed was better his 3 most recent wins were at 6.5 furlongs though at 6 he was third but only by ½ a length, which is nothing to sneeze at. Could prove very tough here.

7. (12/1) The Twister (Aus) – Wildwest – (Markane X Hamas (ire) – This colt has been in stakes races nearly all his life and with 12 races to his name he has hit the board in 9 winning 5. Impressive, with two of his off the board runs being 4th by around 2 lengths. This colt looks tough consistent with a career best speed of 92 coming from a win over this distance, though he has only one graded start which was a disaster his only really bad run. But today’s race looks more favorable.

8. (9/1) Mambo Mine – Jockeymax7 – (Mineshaft X Kingmambo) This well bred colt started his career on dirt with one trial turf run where though he won he ran slower so his trainer decided to stay on turf where he was successful in allowance races. Then after a disappointing allowance start they tried turf again. Like a rocket the colt has never placed a speed below a 90 and has a stakes win and a graded show. He will like the distance and will hopefully live up to his expectations.

9. (11/1) Tiger Hill Colt –reman12000- (Tiger Hill X Run Softly) After running well in his first race he was sold and bought by the R&R Stables. He then went on to win his next three starts making him an undefeated winner of 4 in the G3 Mohawk Juvenile mile. Then he had a string of ok runs until last time out where he showed his old winning form and was dropped back to sprints where he is at his best. With a 100 and then a 105 in his last start this colt could easily prove too much for this field to handle. It depends on the distance his best speeds came at 7 furlongs or longer which could prove that 6 is just too short for him. But if not this colt is one to keep an eye on.

12. After breaking his maiden in his first try he won two allowances then two stakes before showing some mortality and getting a third while still posting an improved speed. Then in his next start he wowed the crowds again by winning by a length and a half with a 102 speed in the Quick Seattle Stakes. With continuing to improve speeds off every start, if he does that again there will be no catching him.
